The Wachowskis Returning to Sci-Fi with Jupiter Ascending

I'm pretty surprised about this to be honest. It's one thing to post-pone a movie that's coming out in a year, but to post-pone a movie that's coming out in 2 months when you've already had trailers and stuff? And the fact that it was pushed SEVEN months makes it even more bizarre.

VFX work was near complete and done in the screening in April. The only thing not finished was the score. The reaction to that screening was..well..less than favorable and that's putting it mildly.
Of course the screenings went poorly, it's a W-siblings movie and the year isn't 1999.

And now there is this crap about how The Lego Movie made money in February. Well the Lego movie is a kids movie, it was based on a popular brand and featured popular characters, it was good and it wasn't pushed back to February weeks before it's summer release date. Furthermore Robocop Reboot came out in February as well and even with a brand name it only made 243mil worldwide which would not be good numbers for the 150 million dollar Jupiter Ascending.

after JA is out we need reports how was the original cut.

there is no way i belive that people would have a negative reaction to a simple snow white and the huntsman plot. W's went in a crazy direction in the second and third act.

Such a disappointment. I'm going to have to wait until next year to see how badly this movie bombs.

Well I'd think it's certain to say this movie is probably awful.

Is anyone actually planning to pay to see this in theaters?

Perhaps they're planning on reshooting...

the whole movie.

been looking for this thread to crap on the horrible trailer but I guess
the studio beat me to it :oldrazz:

If it were completely dire they'd move it to January. February is much less of a dumping ground.

Apparently this only finished shooting a few weeks ago. The film was likely far behind schedule

They actually did that with World War Z. They reshot more than half the movie completely from scratch.

But they actually turned that one around. It was a huge hit and a sequel is now being made.

Well it'll be kinda tough to do reshoots with Kunis currently.

Bet Total Film is pissed off at this release date change: :funny:

You guys seem awfully happy to see it doing bad. None of the people involved are really *******s or whatever, but I guess I don't see it.

World War Z was successful but damn is that movie bland.

I honestly weep any time I see Science Fiction do bad. It doesn't get enough good films.

Well, when a movie looks stupid, you won't exactly find many people rooting for it or sympathizing with the folks who are involved in the production...

Does it really look that stupid though? Star Wars probably looked stupid, lol.

The W-siblings pissed me off with the Matrix sequels and I didn't like Speed Racer or Cloud Atlas so why should I be sad? Should I be sad when M.Night crashes and burns yet again as well?

Unfortunately yea, the trailers look pretty bad. I hope I like the film but the marketing isn't doing it much Justice. Though I'm not going to burn it to the ground either. It looks meh, with great visuals.

At the time, the original Star Wars may have looked stupid to some people because there was no precedent for it. There was nothing like it and people weren't used to big, special effects-laden sci-fi movies.

By now, though, we've seen so many intergalactic, sci-fi movies over the past few decades that it's much easier to spot when one of them looks stupid, silly, or unoriginal a la Jupiter Ascending.

Yes. Cause it means someone keeps giving that lucky one shot director money...

People rushed out to see Star Wars, so safe to say, whatever promotions were used back then worked. Do you think that people are going to be turning out in droves to see this?

Who knows, man. I am just genuinely interested in what it does after all this.

Lol this delay can't be good...

This has had flop written all over it since day one.

I hope this movie is a success, but the majority of responses I've seen to this movie have been negative.
