Well, that's disappointing. It's a shame when it boils down to this kind of stuff. This scenario might be why we'll never see Spider-Man in a Marvel Studios film... though maybe once the air clears after all this hacking stuff, Sony might be so desperate to salvage its reputation that it will ultimately team up with Marvel after all.

Halo wasn't made precisely because it was going to be a huge money maker; the studios involved couldn't agree on the percentage split. The fallout wasn't on whether it would make money, it's who would take in more and how much they could control.

Do you have any link that confirms this information? This is the first I heard of this.

That is an odd article, the way it's written, especially in the beginning.

But it's interesting, though. Wasn't aware of that. I still believe it's not the guaranteed success people think it is, though.

Yeah, it wouldn't take much for this to be better than John Carter.

Go home, you're both drunk. :o

John Carter was not bad at all. Couldve been better but I wouldnt call it bad...just a colossal failure in the box office department

I thought John Carter was alright for one viewing, I haven't had the urge to watch it again. It's neither the worst movie ever or a hidden gem.

Mars isn't a curse, mediocre to bad movies set on mars is.

I really enjoyed John Carter the one time I saw it. In my opinion, it deserved better at the box office. And I would've liked to see a sequel.

John Carter was not bad at all, imo. It just wasn't good enough to overcome the factors working against it, especially the fact that every little aspect of that story had now been aped by so many significant works of sci-fi over the last 50 years that it had nothing "new" to offer today's audience.

This movie certainly looks more ambitious than John Carter did, imo, but I don't really feel like it looks better. Not with Channing Tatum as a space elf and Eddie Redmayne giving a performance he's probably not going to appreciate being his first post-Oscar showcase, lol.

What got me about John Carter was the ending. It isn't the best movie, but I do really like it and felt like it setup something potentially special. But alas...

They showed commercials for it during football yesterday and all of sports twitter (that I follow) was making fun of it. So, that is not good.

The trailers just haven't made the impact that they should have. WB moved the film at the last minute, there is stench of death on it now. Not saying it's fair but people are sharping their knives.

The only thing that can save the film in North America are reviews of the Edge of Tomorrow variety. I don't think even good reviews would get it to 175mil but WB could pretend it's not bad if it squeaks over the 100 million dollar mark.

I just can't imagine who is going to see this. It looks dreadful, and not in a way that is very appealing to mass audiences. And there is no built in audience.

I'm planning to see it, as long as the reviews aren't absolutely putrid.

I'm a fan of the Wachowskis, and the trailers honestly don't look that bad to me.

Well, they're starting to promote it on a lot of shows, so who knows. Tatum isn't really box office poison as of late. Dude has been doing it up.

The only way I'll see it if my mom wants to go to a movie or something.

I think it's the two leads. They just feel so out of place. I get why they went after popular actors but I just feel like neither Tatum or Kunis fit this type of movie. Maybe they'll surprise me, but I doubt it. Kunis wasn't very good in that Oz movie either. And Tatum proved that epics aren't his strong suit with "The Eagłe."
