Looks like it didn't hit him straight on; more like it hit him at an angle from the inside to outside corner of his eye socket.
In the episode this camera shot was shocking (I actually jumped up from my couch), but that gif sadly shows how computer generated the eye socket is; you can see how much it "jumps around" from not being properly matched to his head movement. (Not a dig at the show; it's amazing what they can do with the budget and time they have; just interesting to note and see signs of how they did things)
It was only a prosthetic for a few shots. The reveal shot was a digital composite of Chandler Rigs and a dummy they made - they recorded the same movement with a dummy and then pasted that onto Chandler's face in editing.Pretty sure it was a prosthetic as per Nicotero. He explained the rig and showed the behind the scenes on TD. They touched it up in post I believe but I think that's it.
Rick's decision to take on all those walkers by himself was idiotic. The way everyone went to join him was equally idiotic. what were they planning on doing when their arms got tired?
Whilst Daryl blasting Negan's gang so quickly and efficiently looked cool, it just felt pointless. I mean how long will it be that the rest if the group turn up and there won't be any hatred more than what these guys had because they won't know who blew them up.
Also, how did they not hear Daryl fighting that guy and how did Daryl get the RPG without people realising.
When Rick went all ax-man, it really harked back to his time at the prison where Lory dies. This is that "bad person" inside him that some times comes out without notice. Like he told Daryl in season 5, it may not be all of him, but that part of him is in there, and it's why Carl and others have been able to stay alive. It's just sort of what he does when his chips are down.
As for the others joining in, I think it worked because it was so stupid. It was like the whole town said to themselves, "now is our best shot, and we've got to muster up the courage to fight with Rick, even if it kills us." It's not as if the Alexandrians didn't see the danger; what's important is that they took a stand despite the danger. No more running, no more attempting to run - it's time to fight through them. One of the more inspirational episodes that way.
See the link Reek posted above. Someone might have seen him do it.
You are underestimating the sneakiness.
If Michonne had sliced Ron's arm off instead of stabbing him would the outcome have been different? You could argue the gun would never have gone off and Carl would have been spared.
Then again, I understand Michonnes quick thinking actions. She saw a someone pointing a gun at her dear Rick so she had to eliminate them at all costs. She is a good friend.
I didn't notice the car, but I definitely did think to myself on Sunday night that Negan has a reason to kill off Daryl now ...

yea i didn't notice the car either, nor did i really think of it as a thing... the rest of the article talking about Reedus working on a new series and the recent rumors of him working with Del Toro caught my attention.
I just really think they should kill of Daryl for many reasons.. Why is everyone so butt hurt about that lol and it makes sense professionally since Reedus has lots of offers to do other things
Like I've been asking, does anyone really think Glen, Maggie and the baby are all going to survive and live happily ever after?
And Lauren Cohan has equally if not more offers to do other things professionally as well, she just had her first starring movie, going to be in the upcoming Batman/Superman movie, is filming the Tupac biopic. Out of that entire cast, it looks like she's about to break out.
