The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 7 "When the Dead Come Knocking" Discussion Thread

My brother told me that he though they took it way too far with that scene. I told him to read the comics.

Yeah, seriously. The difference between what happened tonight and what happened in the comics is like the difference between a light slap to the face and being sledge-hammered to death.

My brother gets squeamish easily from scenes like that, too. I think he'd faint from what happens in the comics :whatever:

glenn got it far worse

take your top off

or

get the crap beat out of you and fend off a walker in a locked room strapped to a chair lol

It's also worth pointing out that what Maggie got was more psychological, while what Glenn got was mostly physical.

Awesome episode, I was expecting that scene with Maggie to be worse than it was.

Michonne got it worse in the comics. :csad:

She wasn't raped but it was still a moment that showed you just how sick and psychotic the man is. The end result would probably have been the same even if she had been raped: the audience now sees how much of a **** he is. The show just got that across without getting graphic.

IMO it needed to go there.

The TV Governor isn't as sleazy as the comics Governor. Maybe its still coming but that rape scene almost defines the character and how twisted he is.

Well if they are going to go the way the comics go, between the Gov and Michonne (which I hope so!), it would be the ultimate showdown!!! Now that would be what I call revenge from Michonne, but they need to add that scene between Gov and Michonne, I was thinking, what if the season finale, they ended up rescuing Glen and Maggie and Andrea, but they lose Michonne?? and that's when the scene happens, so season 4 is going after the Gov to rescue her or something...

Something about the restraint in this gov' that will make it all the more engrossing if he does reach that character defining level. These new producers have taking the show to crazy heights and at this point I'm very curious to see what the do with him.
If this was last season...he'd probably be sipping porridge all day.

I know! they could never go the way the comics go, it would be insane!!:wow:

I've seen worse on these sorts of Premium cable networks. One episode of spartacus or Game of Thrones at it's worst has reached levels of depravity this show(but not book) has only approached.

This Governor is pretty tame so far, not sure I like it so much.

I gotta say I agree that not raping Maggie deflated the Governors character.

This is a guy who watches decapitated heads in fishtanks for entertainment.

A commercial break could have been used to avoid the nastiness, but I gotta say, when considering the character, I find it disappointing.

I did like the scene of Glenn vs Walker though. Nice to see Glenn man up to Merle and go badass.

I know it happens in the comics, but am I the only one who feels the show doesn't need to resort to rape to get the point across that the Govenor is a psychopath? There are so many more interesting and creative ways to show how messed up a character can be without resorting to that. What he did to Maggie was as far as they needed to take it, IMO.

I'll say Glenn/Maggie is leading the pack as who has the biggest score to settle with the Governor so far. I know many are waiting for this Michonne/Gov conflict, but at this point, unless it does go the route of the comics between them, she doesn't deserve the deathblow, not yet, and we've yet to see how things are going to play out between the Gov and Rick yet. I have a feeling Rick's group is going to roll over the Governor's at first, then major repercussions will come of it for the group for the beginning of the second half of the season.

Technically...
Michonne didn't have the deathblow in the comics either it was a Woodbury resident during the attack on the prison.[blackout]after making her shoot Lori while she was holding the baby[/blackout]

As much as I hate to say it [blackout]but I think Michonne will have some "fun" with him, I think Andrea will have the deathblow once she realizes she has been scammed this whole time.[/blackout]

Agree. I would really love to see Glenn reign down some sweet vengence upon the Governor right now.

There was a BBC show called Survivors in which a group of people survived in a virus hit post-apocalyptic world (minus the zombies).

It reminds me alot of The Walking Dead.

I've watched This Is England 86. The maggie/governor scene has nothing on the Mick/Trev scene

But that's the thing, The Walking Dead isn't on Starz so it has to side step a lot of stuff. I'm shocked they're able to get away with the level of gore they show.

walker full gore head stomp with all goo shown = Pass
Andrea/Maggie slip a nipple = Show's over

America! :)

Glen fighting for his life against the walker was awesome.

Michonne is like a female Wolverine.

Michonne's and the Governor's Oh **** expression when they found out Rick's gang cleared out the prison of walkers was cool.

The woodbury crew are all talk. Its like the scene on the wall with the woodbury chick talking about what a great shot she is with the bow and arrow yet when Andrea jumps down puts the beatdown on a walker she freaks out.

Misfits you see someone get their stabbed in neck, penis/hand cut off as well as full frontal nudity and graphic sex all in one episode and its aimed at teenagers :woot:

The only rules on Channel 4in the UK is there are no rules!

It should have been taken further at least. Like making her go fully nude and licking the side of her face in front of Glenn. I really want Maggie to stay true to the comics after this arc.

I'm still holding out that we get the Gov/ Michonne. The climax to their confrontation needs to happen. Its bad enough that we only got Carl shooting a zombie Shane.

Don't get me wrong I love the show, and :hrt:Lauren Cohan:hrt:, but they are really missing some character defining moments.

I'll admit that could have been creepier, but the scene had me on end and I figured she was the one that was going to get raped instead of Michonne. I was kind of happy when that didn't happen.

What would have been more messed up was if he did it in front of Glen after acting like he wasn't in the room with Maggie just to really show how messed up the Gov. is.
