There's lots to argue about in terms of McKenna's methodology of how he came to his conclusions (Spoiler: LOTS of substances like cannabis and mushrooms etc.) but this statement feels really true.

Just a thought... There's nothing wrong about seeking to be better and trying to bring your life into order and to action on improving your mind and body or try to heal and overcome traumas.

But there is an industry around that and yes, there's also a tendency in many to give up on the world as it is, a big source of a lot of what ails the individual, and try to heal and nurture yourself solely.

I am struggling with this idea A LOT.

Too many are CHOOSING to be... well you know.

But also, there's just a lot out there that don't have the faculties to parse through truth from falsehood and are just living life and, bad luck, latched onto something without thinking it through.

And yet...

Before anyone starts... There's over 200 solitary bee species that don't form large hives and have Queens etc.

Something to chew on.

Don't let something define you but yourself or others acting as though it's all on you and if you don't overcome or seem to still be held back then it's a failure or character or it's about your own inherent weaknesses? Yeah, that's when "You can do it!" rah-rah bull**** can feel empty or harmful in the long term.

Also a thought... No matter how formative, no matter the trauma suffered during it... Your childhood is going to be a very small part of your overall life if you are gonna plan to reach your 70's or 80's. One way or the other you are going to move beyond it.
