Comics The Wolverine thread

Origin was a real good story. I was expecting another Origin miniseries, not an ongoing.

ya actually that's what I was expecting too. I was pretty dissapointed in the end, just because it really wasn't want I would have expected, but since he still doesn't have his memories in that, I think it's safe to say that that story is pretty much not going to be counted with any validity.

I just finished Wolverine 40 and I'm not so sure I liked it. I'm having trouble fitting this into my Wolverine continuity. See I thought that Weapon X, when they put the metal in him, so traumatized him that his memory fell apart. But this story takes place post Adamantium. So why did he forget it? Why did he forget his wife? Why is he friends with Muramasa when the guy beat him up before? *confused*

That my friend is the selling point of Wolverine: Origins. Just gonna have to read it to find out these things apparantly and I for one can't wait. Guy has 200 years of history just waiting to be uncovered.

I'm looking forward to Origins too. I just don't wanna be teased! :p

That's how I felt, but that's why we must see what happens in Origins.:)

One thing I was musing about (musing...I have a good vocabulary yay me! ahem anyways..) what exactaly was everybody's opinion on Origin? I know I loved it, but what did everybody else think?

i kinda thought it was a false memory of wolverine's. cause those parallels to his current life are way too coincidental. the story was interesting, but there were a lot of holes :
is dog sabretooth?
is dog's father wolverine's as well?...and some others.

I like to think that Dog is Sabretooth, but I have heard others say it was Cyber. I don't know Cyber that well, I have some back issues to reread, but supposedly Cyber claimed that Logan killed his dad. That would fit in with him being Dog. Plus in the What If? recently, Logan kills Dog who turned out to be a gangster or something. I think Saby better fits the whole profile of their constant bickering, but it's not up to me. :)

Spoilers

Last night I bought the tpb of New Avengers "Breakout", and I do Not agree with Wolverine getting stabbed in the throat by his own Claws by SpiderWoman! WTF?! He would not have been taken that easily. Shield training or not, that was stupid. I've seen him take down far worse than her and he hasn't been weak in a surprise attack before.

Other than that I like the story so far, haven't finished it yet.:)

I can't wait to see Ramos' work in Wolverine, I've seen a little, and I thought I wouldn't like it but, I think I'm digging it 'cause it's a little change from what's been done lately.

I think I was just in the mood for something different.

I finished Breakout last night, it's really good but it leaves off on a cliffhanger. Now I need to get more. I didn't like the idea of Wolverine being an Avenger but it is cool, it's just a place where you can get more bang for your buck, 'cause in one book you get more heroes.:)

And it's another place I can get my Wolvie fix.

I liked how Cap didn't want him in 'cause he's a killer, but then Ironman pointed out that for this situation they need someone like him, I was wondering why they'd let him in, 'cause that was my first thought about Wolvie in the Avengers, Isn't he too dark for them?, But I see now.

He's like the new Hulk in the Avengers.:wolverine :D Someone wild, and uncontrollable.

Jess is a trained agent of SHIELD and HYDRA,of course she could stick it to Wolvie.

Way's O and E arc was pretty decent.Sure it was meant to be a lead in to the new ongoing, but Dillon's art is just a turnoff for me.In this day and age of pricy comics,I can't justify buying comics I'm iffy about.Maybe I'll get the trade, maybe.

Anyone else picking up the Wolvie CW tie-ins?Ramos' art is pretty extreme for me,I'm not sure about this.

I don't mind Ramos. He's not great though.

Wolverine still could whip anyone's butt from SHIELD, IMO. I don't like how in Spider-man Peter threw Logan out of the window, they better not make him the whipping boy of the Avengers.

It was funny but still I've seen Wolvie do alot of amazing stuff and won't take crap from anyone, after Spidey tossed him he should have kicked his ass.:)

Not much longer until Origins #1!

I can't wait. Hope it's worth it.

looking forward to origins
but how much can they tell us
before the revelations seem repetitive ?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm kind of worried about this series but at the same time really interested.

SPOILERS

That first Issue of ORIGINS was awesome!!! I loved when the Shiva crashed through the wall!

I haven't seen one of those for a while. Wolvie sliced it up good!

I liked how he knew where that secret exit was in the White House.

The artwork in this book is very good, and I'm so happy to see the brown suit back, it's my favorite.

I got the Quesada cover which kicks ass, I love the way Logan looks in the reflection in the water. I wasn't too keen on the Micheal Turner cover I like his work somewhat but not as much as Quesada's cool clean art.

I wonder what's up with this guy with the Flag on his face, all I know is that it all started in Nam between Wolvie and him.

Another thing, Wolvie seems to be spending alot of time in the sewers these days.:)

About the New Avengers thing:

I'm okay with Jessica Drew stabbing Logan-- she's supposed to be very good, after all-- and even with Spider-Man throwing him out the window. I think Logan kinda respects a guy who'll throw him through a window on those occasions when he's out of line.

What I didn't like was Logan getting everybody in trouble toward the end by attacking Sauron. Maybe in his early days with the X-Men he'd have made such a rookie mistake, but it's been years since he was written as that impulsive. Also, the incident-- was it in Spider-Man?-- where he stabbed Spidey with his claws after they'd been arguing, that was going too far. In general, Logan with the New Avengers gets written more as the wild man he used to be than as the gruff but respected team player he is now.

On the other hand, I love Iron Man's reasoning for bringing him aboard as he's right-- Logan DOES add something important to their team dynamic. I just wish he were being used a little better.

Oh, and on completely another note, I love the brown costume too! Yellow stripey looks more like Calvin's imaginary friend Hobbes to me than like a tough superhero. I much prefer Logan in the brown costume or in movie/New X-Men leather. Tres cool.

I got Origins, wasn't bad, but it looks like they will be teasing us about his past. We learned nothing new. :(

Whats up with the sword? The man has freakin claws, on both hands, I know when he is in all Samurai mode, the sword is cool, but...I guess thats just me nitpicking. :p

Forget that leather garbage but, I do like the brown suit. Yeah I liked Tony's reason for having Logan on the team.
