The Wolverine The Wolverine Unleashed Extended Edition Blu-Ray: December 3

Wonder if the Extended Cut of The Wolverine will be on that Adamantium Collection thing that comes with all 6 X-movies and a Wolverine claw (2 claws? I dunno...)

I am interested by this alternative ending.

I guess it will be just once scene at the end rather than major changes to the third act but still I wonder if it will be part of the film itself or just a viewable scene on its own?

Hmm, suppose I'll skip the regular release date and just wait for this. Sucks I have to pick up the 3D version though.

I know that the extended edition is only with the 3D BR combo pack, but is it actually in 3D? I will buy it if the extended edition is in normal 2D Blu-Ray.

No, it looks like the 3D disc is the theatrical version and the extended version is the 2D disc.

I'm still waiting for their announcement about this Adamantium Collection!

I want to get a better picture of the covers!

Some responses from Mangold on Twitter:

@RiqqyChadwick @WolverineMovie The extended version will not be in 3D. It will be a regular blu ray.

@TombyPockle @WolverineMovie I don't understand your disappointment, Tomby. There is a blu ray extended cut.

@PaulSPeento @WolverineMovie then you will be very rewarded with the extended version!

@TombyPockle @WolverineMovie Not sure I follow, Tomby. I would buy the unleashed edition. This is a situation where the extras are worth it.

Yeah, it's really nothing for fans to flip out over. It's the extended edition we all wanted, it's just part of an edition that includes a 3D disc as well. No biggie.

This seems to confirm that UKers will indeed be getting the extended cut on release:

Hooray. Also worth mentioning that the HMV steelbook is coming and will most likely contain everything as well as it will be the most expensive option. Can't wait to get it.

Please be true. Please be true. Please be true. Please be true. Please be true.

Sounds more promising that the UK is getting it after all which is great news. On facebook they advertise this as well even if the link to Amazon doesnt mention any of the extras, still, they are advertising it like it IS coming out here too.

And if I can get my hands on the steelbook too.............

Probably worth buying if you don't have any of the X-mens on Blu yet (I only have 1st class) But I'm hoping the extra disc comes with awesome special features...

So basically I have to buy a blu-ray player to watch the extended version? Is this what Mangold is trying to say? Why can't it be on regular DVD?

I am in same boat.

This is studio's screwing DVD owners.

If the extended version of the hobbit can be on DVD why can't the Wolverine?

Pretty much. This kind of decision will only be made more and more in the following years. It's no shock DVD's are being phased out for both Digital sales and BD, surprised it's taken this long. Just the cycle of life, gotta adapt sooner or later. The extended cut could also be out to purchase on itunes and vudu weeks before the actual disc release like other titles.

At least theres the option to still play DVD's in all BD players. It's a much easier transition then VHS vs DVD imo, and has fairly cheap pricing for players.

Mangold himself said it's about 10-12 minutes, so yeah, duder there is wrong.

Probably. But, Bill Hunt is in the know and has the proper channels to confirm something before he publishes on his site. What if this is actually true?

Maybe there is some confusion and that run time includes the the Path of The Ronin featurette as well.

I know it isn't confirmed, but does the 3D version come with the 2D theatrical cut?
