The Wolverine The Wolverine Unleashed Extended Edition Blu-Ray: December 3

Oh it's on Amazon now too. Standard edition has this cover:

So rare to see DVD/Blu releases with great covers.
What a wonderful cover. Perfection.

HEY

Can you guys help me out? Why is the "Unleashed Extended edition" still only rated 12 (PG13). I thought this was bloody edition, with blood and gore edited back into the film (like the UK BluRay release of die hard 5)

Ratings systems in the UK aren't the same as the US. For example: Terminator 3 was R-rated in the US and only a 12 in the UK.

I guess the extra bits aren't shocking enough to warrant a new rating in the UK, but something about them must have bothered the US ratings people. I'm guessing the added stuff isn't all that brutal.

Then someone needs to die! :cmad: :(

It's lame, but the norm now apparently. I'm only begrudgingly moving over to Blu Ray now for the extras, no way in hell am I bothering with 3D.

I guess we'll get some nice coasters :oldrazz:

At least its not as bad as the "extended" edition of Fast and Furious 6, which was literally less than 1 minute.

The UK "uncut" edition of The Hunger Games was also apparently only 7 non-consecutive seconds longer and managed to get the film rating bumped up from 12 to a 15.

Fun fact, Gremlins is a PG in the US and a 15 in the UK.

I hate that crap.

"Extended edition - now available!"

*Picks up item*

*Theatrical Cut - 126 min, Extended Cut- 126.5 min*

Why bother?

That cover is seriously so beautiful. Possibly one of the most iconic live action superhero images I've seen

Yeah nothing but a cash grab those.

I feel confident that this will be a significant difference and the director has said all along its 12 minutes more of footage that to me is worthy of the title "extended edition"

Pre-ordered it yesterday when I saw "Unleashed edition" confirmed here in the nordics. If the release date is correct, I'll get it November 27th. Or more likely 29th due to some local post office hiccups. For some reason we got Iron Man 3 about a week or more earlier than americans too.

Just pre ordered the extended version, just need a blu-ray player now haha!!

I was in Target yesterday and the preview for the blu-ray was on one of the monitors in the TV section. :woot:

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but BOTH the regular bluray and 3D blurays say they include the extended cut.

Amazon only lists the extended cut on the 3d package... in the uk a least.

In the US here's the regular Bluray (NOT the Bluray 3D "Unleashed" edition).

:D

aww yes, no need to get the 3D

Hate to break it to you guys...but's It's been confirmed the 3D Unleashed Edition is the only one getting the extended cut. You can't pay attention to the Blu-ray cover on amazon.

Except that's the actual bluray cover.

It may be. But everything I've read has said the Blu-ray will only be 2D Blu-ray theatrical cut. And the 3D Blu-ray will contain 3D Blu-ray, 2D Blu-ray, 2D Blu-ray extended cut, DVD copy and digital copy.

Well here in Australia we are getting the EE so very happy with that, cannot wait to see it!

Gotta admit, in the 3D package only or not, I'm just glad we're getting the extended cut at all, and they're not making us wait for a later release.

Same here. I don't have a problem spending a few bucks extra on an extended cut. That's a feature I'm willing to pay for. It's a much better deal then the double release alternative. And even if you don't want the 3D your still getting a DVD, Digital copy, Blu Ray and both cuts. That's easily worth the price imo. The digital copy alone will cost ya $15-20 on itunes or vudu.

Here in the nordics, the regular blu-ray box covers (not the same as JP posted) seem to include the extended edition also. Seems like it's happening.

The two additional things I care about are
1) The Extended Cut
2) Director's Commentary

And that's only available on the 3D edition. Or is it? At this point I'm getting confused.

That's just it, the regular blu-ray back box covers seem to indicate they have the commentary too. Not canceling my "unleashed" edition yet but...

I wish we could get some confirmation as I don't need the 3D copy for extra money if I can get the extended cut on the regular Blu Ray.
