BvS The Wonder Woman Costume Thread - Part 2

The JL War costume is a tad odd. Why cover her arms but not her upper thighs?

I could deal with it if she was swimming. Not sure a beauty pageant would fit in.

I think it would be funny if she pulled off the skirt, swam for something important to the plot (Aquaman maybe?), THEN pulled them back on.

But only as long as the swimshorts are like this

Really hope we see the invisible Jet as I'm dying to see a big budget Hollywood rendition on the big screen.

I'd like to see the Invisible Jet on the big screen too, although I'm not sure it needs to be seen in MOS2.

I just hope that they provide an appropriate explanation for the jet. To me, the simplest and most obvious explanation has always been that the Invisible Jet was originally the advanced prototype jet that Steve Trevor crashed on Themyscira.

The Amazons retrieved the damaged jet and used their own technology to upgrade the jet, including cloaking/invisibility technology. Wonder Woman then uses the jet whenever she needs to travel great distances and wants to conserve her energy, when she needs to go to areas undetected and when she needs to travel with people who don't have the ability to fly (e.g. Steve Trevor, Batman, The Flash, etc).

That wouldn't bother me. The swimsuit costume would be appropriate for...swimming.

Why has nobody mentioned her costume from the animated movie universe. A costume that actually does a good job of not throwing her body in your face like LOOK AT THESE JUGGS without covering her up head to toe in battle armor or anything. I think its the best of both worlds.

I don't like that for Wonder Woman. She looks too much like Ms Marvel's original Kree costume.

Here's a question, if Wonder Woman is a goddess, why does she need armor?

Even though Wonder Woman's inherent durability and invulnerability fluctuate pretty wildly, I don't think she has ever been completely immune to all kinds of physical damage.

For example, even if she's nearly invulnerable to blunt forces, she is still vulnerable to bladed weapons (or only magical bladed weapons). If Wonder Woman does have some physical vulnerability, even if it's limited, it would make sense for her to wear appropriate protection in the form of armour.

But then you could ask why we need to see her swim. I mean, nudity is appropriate in the shower, but such a scene would probably be seen as exploitative.

^ So you are saying there should be shower scenes? ;)

Apparently Argo cut out a shower scene of Affleck. That would have been pointlessly funny.

^ Ugh. I liked how Black Widow was written in Avengers, but stuff like that is just throwing her under the bus.

I agree. I thought The Avengers poster created a decent amount of online discussion about the sexualised "pose" favoured for Black Widow. And I thought the extent of that discussion was sufficient that it would have come to Marvel's attention. But, that posted for Captain America 2 is even worse than The Avengers poster!

Something I did really quickly to prove that you can have a superheroy color scheme and still have the skirt look and have them mesh. It's just a rough draft BTW.

Idk the real reason is more than likely just for looks and the justification is probably something like why do boxers and kick boxers wear gear on their arms and hands but not on their upper thigh. Those areas just see more action.

Not a fan of the battleskirt in almost any rendition tbh.Give me swim suit or give me pants.

It's like the costume designers counted how low they could get while barely revealing cleavage. It's a total 'tease' outfit.

But yeah, with TWS, Scarjo is the only one with the face turned up, deverting attention away from it

Would people be happy with an update of the classic "swimsuit" costume that covered this much skin:

Personally, I think I would be. But, it would really depend upon the overall design and the material used since I don't think standard cotton/lycra would really give Wonder Woman the other-wordly vibe that she deserves.

But, the shorts are a semi-decent length and if Gal Gadot can add some bulk and definition to her biceps, then I'm not opposed to her showing them off. I think it does help that there is no cleavage on show. A neckline similar to that in the animated JL: War could work well with a costume similar to this.

I'm a male and I still find her pose on this poster to be ridiculous looking.

Cap and Fury are walking determined towards the audience and Black Widow's... doing what appears to be a sexy dance.

I almost want to cut Redford and Scarlet out and have them be their own poster.

THE ADVENTURES OF REDFORD AND THE 40 FOOT WOMAN

Pic number 2..just pic number 2. And people complain about Gal!

Sure. If they're gonna use the shorts they should make them longer, or under the battleskirt, or both (my pick).

Yes, I think cleavage should be minimal or nonexistent, and all bets are off if she has to crouch.

Just as long as some man got shirtless and maybe pantless (Superman changing would be a funny gag) to be fair :woot:

You mean with Superman in red briefs, batman in black briefs, and wondy in spangely briefs? It could be a funny gag, but it could also get into Michael Bay territory and turn them into the Sexy Trinity. :oldrazz:

It's highly disappointing to see a well-written character and great actress treated that way. I thought Marvel would learn too. But I guess not...

The rough concept does come through and I like it.:yay:
Also, Gal has a great look for this facially.

Could be. It looks pretty unbalanced to me.

Oh goodness. It looks even dumber compared to the other characters. Seriously...who designs this stuff? They need a strongly worded memo. I wonder what Johansson thinks of this.

Honestly. I could see that poster being a template for BvS

Fury as Batman
Rogers as Superman
Widow as Wonder Woman
Redford as Luthor
Winter Soldier as Metallo

It will be really interesting to see the posters and promotional material for this movie. If BvsS's marketing team doesn't do any dumb stuff with WW or Lois like TWS team did, I will be impressed.

^ That was done by Teagone. And yes, it's amazing.

I was thinking having just a quick scene of a superhero putting on a costume. Like Superman/Batman. I think Batman would be funny because audiences would take him seriously.

As far as a Trinity Undies scene goes, I guess they'd have to allow themselves to be strip-searched (by a computer or something, but even that SHOULD have a body scanner). I think it'd be funny if Batman was the first to do it (he leaves his mask on of course), but warns Superman not to laugh. Batman would turn to WW, but she'd smack him a little bit (it will be filmed by the shoulders up, or neck just for REALLY sensitive audiences)
Clark would be bashful, and then Batman would be like "That's it! I'm jealous."
WW wouldn't care about them either way. WW grabs her top as soon as the scanner reads and puts it on, the camera focusing on the top of her back(maybe shoulder area), leaving her with the classic piece but without pants. Superman/Batman would be wearing just their 'shorts' which are red and black, respectively. They all say in unison "Let's put on pants" to which WW says "I don't need any" whisking up her battle skirt.

And when I say shoulder, I mean SHOULDER
Pain_between_Shoulder_Blades.jpg

Or just a quick sequence of a scanner showing them all in their undies, which reflect their comic suit :funny:

But that would mean no swimming scene..unless a dude gets disrobed somehow :P
