Either way, Purple, I'm sad to see you go. I haven't always liked your ideas and you sometimes come off as rather pushy about them (although that shows a dedication that I don't think is necessarily bad), but you're not a bad RP'er and I hope you stick around, and try and figure something else out. There are many ways to go outside of the box while staying in it after all. Also, for the record, since I probably haven't done so yet, Happy B-Day to you.

Lastly, I really wish this RPG would lighten up. Most of you have been a bunch of tightwads lately.

Very true. I've noticed that I do tend to be pushy sometimes about my ideas. I'm not trying to justify my behavior, but I just tend to push back, when I feel that people aren't having an open mind.

I hate to leave, but I had a very good feeling about my Dr.Fate story, and would have much enjoyed sharing it with you all.

All I asked for was to have a little faith, I was promising not to dissapoint. The way I see it. Why not take a chance with my Dr.Fate? Would it really be that terrible for me to try something a little different. It's not like there are a million people flooding this thread with Fate proposals that my idea should get instantly thrown away.

And I do agree that a lot of people have been acting like tightwads. This is supposed to be for fun. And if someone comes up with a fun idea, why not give them the benefit of the doubt and at least hear them out before sending their idea to the gallows.

I swear, this is a message board RPG. No one should be so uptight about "rules".

I'm sorry for being so confrontational, but I am not backing down regarding my Dr.Fate storyline. It is one of those bizarre somethings that I would love to share if everyone could just accept what I want to do doesn't exactly fall into the rules.

No, I'm just method RPG'ing. Like Christian Bale and acting. He had his trailer read 'Bruce Wayne' on the set of Batman Begins... I act like a **** to be Dick Grayson. It all works out. :o

Dude... the rules are there for a reason. They're not just little snippets that we put there for fun... they're expected to be followed. Now, I have no problem with you playing an existing Fate... You're a capable RPG'er. But what you're proposing is like me picking up a mystery character and saying that I'm gonna be the new Batman. It just doesn't work like that, and I wouldn't be allowed to do so, even though I'm a GM of this game.

The rules should be flexible under certain circumstances.

I offered a good proposal. I gave everyone my word that my Dr.Fate storyline would be worth the rule bending.

The only reason I'm still arguing is because I'm so passionate about this idea. If it were just some stray thought that I decided to latch onto, I wouldn't put up a fuss.

You know, you don't have to RP to share a story, given past continuity in the RPG with the character, having the powers of Fate leave Hector again after he fought so hard to reclaim it wouldn't really make sense. Again, I'm just doing the job I got asked to do. If Twy wants to override my ruling, so be it, thats up to her.

And if we weren't uptight about the 'rules' and every one did every thing they wanted, it would be a massive mess. Like it or not, we can't break the rules for one person without doing it for anyone who asks. I'm sorry, but I'm just trying to keep order.

Many of the rules ARE flexible, and have evolved. It used to be that you couldn't space travel, or time travel. Given the right proposals those were taken out. Some aren't flexible. Whenever someone applies as Darkseid for example. He's too powerful, he falls under that god category. Creating a new person to take an existing mantle also falls under that. Noone is stopping you from writing fan-fiction, its just it would be hard for us to interact with someone we know nothing about because he never existed before hand.

Why didn't I think of this sooner? How about I post my proposal and we put it to a vote? If the idea of some unkown wearing the helm of Nabu is too unreasonable for everyone, I will shut up and never propose any of my radical ideas again. If the vote goes my way, everyone should consider being a little bit more open about the rules.

No, the GM's have sided. They don't want that, and I am sure a vote wouldn't do much good since you are the only one wanting to change the rules. So, please, stop with the hounding when you got the answer multiple times.

He wouldn't be hard to interact with. Most characters don't even know who Hector Hall is, and those that did know who he is, would wonder why Nabu chose someone else, which would lead to interesting conversation.

Maybe people would start distrusting Fate because he isn't Mr.Hall and neglects to mention the whereabouts of Hector. How would the capes confront someone as powerful as Fate?

Think of it like when Azrael was Batman. Azrael was Batman, but he wasn't the Batman, and a lot of the other heroes knew it. And we all know it was only a matter of time until the real Batman returned to reclaim his mantle.

And the answer to my proposal was only answered by CNO and GL. While I value your oppinions, you do not accurately represent the majority of the rpg. So I still say it goes to vote.

How about you let Twylight decide? She is the head GM so she should give the final word. Thus getting rid of bickering and fighting.

He would be EXCEEDINGLY hard to interact with. Adding new powers aside, there's no precedence set for the character, therefore there's no way anyone can claim that you're acting out of character. If I suddenly had J'onn turn around and start killing Justice League members, I'd better have a good explanation for it, as it is definitely not within J'onn's character to do so. Nobody would know what to expect when this new Fate shows up (and btw, I'm under the impression that the hero community knows Hector is Fate, I could be wrong though), and that hinders play.

As appealling as it sounds Purple Man, I have to vote no as well.
It really is something for the Ultimate RPG.
You can establish Hector as the first helmbearer(i like how that sounds) there. Then have your character take over just like you said.

If everyone is willing to at least listen to my ideas, I will gladly take the time to answer any questions you may have.

I sort of planned my Dr.Fate to be sort of aloof, more of a mystical force than another super hero. Fate went on a journey through his tower, and a pretender usurped his power. Hector would be trapped in the tower for some time while I establish the new Fate.

Speaking of magical characters? Anyone thinking of playing Zatanna next season? We could use some more magical characters.

The idea would work better in Ultimate DC RPG. To my knowledge, it isn't against the rules either.

Exactly. That is what the UDC RPG is for.

No. In that universe he would be the first Dr.Fate. I plan on playing off the heritage

I'm done arguing with you guys. Your minds are shut.

I will leave the fate of Fate in Twys capable hands. She has been nothing but fair with me since I've joined so if she says I'm out of line with my ideas then I can walk away without feeling like I was getting richarded around.

We're being fair Purple Man. You aren't listening to our explanations. Hector played a HUGE role in Season II. After he reclaimed the power of Fate from Mordru. Most of the heroes know him because he saved all of their butts from the fire.

No, you can say, in the UDRPG, that you are the second Dr. Fate, and use the same story.
