Cena was the RIGHT choice. Brock is getting that belt at SummerSlam...and those of you who are angry that Reigns, Wyatt or Cesaro didn't get the belt last night would be FURIOUS when Brock destroyed them and took their belt. Cena will not only not be hurt by such a loss, Brock needs it to get a victory over Cena and make right the poor decision to job him in their first match.

You could say the same thing if Orton had won and the argument would still stand. Any of those 3 names being transitional champs just to be Brock's dinner would be hurt in the long term.

KENTA will be back in Japan in a year.

Unless the opponent he faces is Bryan (Bryan has state numerous times that KENTA was his great opponent) for the majority of his time there, I see this happening. I just know they won't let him use the GTS either.

I agree that HHH has been the bane of Orton's career, but I don't think that one month reign was the career killer that it felt like it was going to be ten years ago. In fact, he has turned out to be one of the top guys of the last decade. While they should AIM higher, I feel like the young guys would actually be lucky to have Orton's career (minus the wellness policy issues).

The real killer was the Wrestlemania 25 loss. Orton has been stagnate ever since. When he was the Viper, he had some diesel momentum. Then that got squandered as well. And we all know how it went while he was the Authority's lackey.

I'm not angry, I completely agree. The initial prospect of Cena as champ again is usually unsavoury these days, but when you realise the bigger picture here, it's not a problem at all and is probably the right/best decision. It's simply a means to an end.

I'm not gonna say I'm jumping on any bandwagon but I'm certainly excited to see what the fuss is all about.

Yeah, since I gave up on TNA years ago and don't have the time (or motivation) to really seek out content that's not basically sat in my lap, I pretty much don't watch anyone that's not in WWE/NXT. It's not a knock on other promotions. I just don't really care enough at this point to get invested in another promotion.

If content was so readily available back when I was in high school, I would have been all over it. I got WWF, WCW, and, when I was lucky, ECW on my tv, and we didn't have YouTube or anything like that to watch videos online, so I could only keep up with Japanese, Mexican, and indie wrestling through magazines.

Cena as placeholder champ does nothing to hurt his career

I would love to see Stephanie tonight saying John Cena isn't good for business because all his charitable work doesn't contribute to the company's revenue.

Cena being the champion is the right decision. However, I wonder how many boo's the dude is gonna get tonight.

:o

I'd watch RoH if they had a better TV deal.

His character might have suffered greatly, but it's not like he has gone the way of Damien Sandow or even Miz.

- As noted earlier, WWE is expected to announce the signing of Japanese superstar KENTA at a press conference during their Japanese tour next month. WWE's Japanese microsite has the press conference listed here, and KENTA's name is actually listed in the file name of the picture on the site, which is kenta-teaser-image.jpg.

- As noted earlier, Triple H announced on Twitter that a former WWE Champion will be returning on tonight's RAW. We mentioned this morning that Ric Flair and The Miz may be returning this week. WWE.com noted that the Superstar returning is a "cross-platform entertainer who has found numerous successes outside of the squared circle."

Excited for the signing of Yoshi Fuji.

It really must be a two night appearance because Jericho said on his podcast he's booked up throughout the summer.

I'm behind Bryan vs Orton as Bryan's first feud when he returns. They wore that feud out last year but it'll be somewhat fresh again soon.

The Shawn Michael's set, Mr. Wrestlemania, is now on Netflix. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!!

While I don't really care to see them in a feud again, Bryan and Orton generally had really good matches when they weren't overbooked.

Cena is absolutely the most bulletproof, followed by Orton. I would have went with Sheamus, who I also believe could absorb a transitional reign. You could blow off his feud with Cesaro at Battleground, and then have Heyman insert Lesnar into the mix to build towards SummerSlam.

But, Cena is the best choice, considering their rivalry going back over a decade, and the prospect of Cena returning the job to Lesnar.

Cena actually hasn't won at SummerSlam since 2010.

....so.. You're saying it's not Sting?

:(

MITB was a solid show, I actually thought Rusev vs Big E was the best match,m a real smash-mouth fight between two athletic guys, and I liked how they countered a couple of spots from their Payback match, you only usually see that type of layered work from top guys.

The Briefcase match was the best of the two ladder matches, great stuff from Rollins, Ambrose, Ziggler and Kofi. I didn't mind Rollins getting help I just wish The Authority had a better enforcer than Kane who is beyond stale.

Tag title match was really good and Paige had her best match in WWE with Naomi who also had her best match to date.

The WWE title match was ok, to be honest the guys in it weren't really suited to the gimmick and it was a bit ponderous as far as action goes. Cena winning is fine because WWE have nobody else to face Brock at Summerslam, although I still don't think Brock winning the title so far out from Mania makes sense.

Hoping for Cena vs Cesaro at Battleground.

Steph's character work was on point again last night. :D

I think the only difference is that Brock beating Randy means next to nothing...Brock beating Cena means that Cena's earlier victory over him was a fluke (or at least they could argue that). Brock had his legs cut out from under him with that loss to Cena upon his return, and he must beat him if he is ever going to get them back (which he likely never will fully).
