It still doesn't make the WWE Championship a world championship :o Agree with everything else though

We'll have to disagree there, but I'll bite...why isn't it a world championship in your eyes? And what is?

I can honestly see Punk winning the IC if they unified the World Heavyweight and WWE title, which I wouldn't mind seeing. That would be a big boost for the title. Much like Jericho, they could drop him down there to lift up the belt while giving Bryan a chance to flourish.

Sometimes though I think midcard titles like the IC and US has become a curse as of late in this company because that now means being relegated to short timeslots. I'd hate for that to happen to Punk but if they freed up space for the IC title to have significance then I wouldnt mind.

I highly recommend watching Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows. It's on Netflix.

Triple H getting called out by Bret's wife as he holds his head down in shame like a child was great.

If he actually shows up in a WWE ring, this guy:

If not then:

Yes if he retires:

Highly unlikely but who knows (he would be my dream inductee):

You know, I'd love to see them troll us and act like they're showing a promo for a DX Hall of Fame announcement, only for it be interrupted for an NWO "paid announcement" for their induction.

Watching old JCP clips just reminds me of how epic Tully Blanchard was as a heel. For someone with his look, he was a true heel through and through and always knew how to draw heat on himself. WWE is definitely in need of a least a couple Tully Blanchard-like heels. Completely despicable in every way with no likeable qualities in their characters. Chris Jericho's work as heel in the 2008 feud with HBK is the closest thing to that kind of heel.

Watched Sgt. Slaughter's 2009 and Jesse Ventura's RF shoot interview. Probably two of the best shoots out there. It was like watching books on film.

Hogan, Nash, and Hall don't have much to offer WWE on TV. I respect those guys for what they've done but nWo vs The Shield is a waste of time and I don't believe WWE will book it.

If AJ Styles ever goes to WWE, I hope he gets managed by Joey Styles.

Ultimate Warrior should be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame for 2014 before they ever decide to induct Sting in there as well should Sting ever go there.

In my eyes the WWE Championship is the "corporate" championship. This is not because of the current storyline, I've been thinking this since I started watching wrestling again. If it were a true world championship, don't you'd think it'd state that? Believe it or not, it was once declared the WWF's "World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion[ship]", on the belt no less. By comparison the World Heavyweight Championship's so-called "extended" lineage is intrinsic by virtue of the Big Gold Belt, that and it outright states it on the belt. The new WWE Championship belt clearly states that it is nothing more than the championship of WWE. Whatever "world" status it once held notwithstanding, I'm simply saying that in both form and deed, the current iteration of the WWE Championship I no longer consider to be a "world" championship. I favor a lifting up of the World Heavyweight Championship to equal status. WWE is big enough to handle a corporate and formal world champion.

For tradition's sake, though! I'm a guilty WCW mark, and I don't wanna see that belt leave the screen :hehe:

I just finished the latest ROH show Manhattan Mayhem V. Great show ruined by the New York crowd. Pretty much every match was consistent with The Forever Hooligans vs The Young Bucks being the Match of The Night. The NY crowd completely ****ed up the Michael Elgin/Karl Anderson. NY can be quite annoying at times, but it's even worse when those fans at stupid ass WWE sheep. They were chanting "HOOOOOO" at Michael Elgin and "Gillberg" at Anderson. Just frustrating as all hell.

I kind of hope ROH holds 2 or 3 shows in NYC a year because the ROH/NYC crowds have changed so much over the past 3 years.

But you're missing one thing. The tradition of the WWEWHC doesn't date back to the days of WCW. It dates back to September of 2002 when HHH was just handed the title. Just saying.

:hehe:

The WWE Championship is the main event championship, whether you want to call it a "world" championship is up to you. Being world champion is supposed to mean that you're the main event. The championship that Del Rio holds doesn't deserve to be called a world title because it hasn't main evented a PPV since 2010.

I don't know a lot about the lineages of each title as I stopped watching in the 00's and only started watching wrestling again when Rock came back to host Mania but it does seem odd to me that the WWE title, which by name implies is the main/significant title of this particular federation and logically would not be sought after by wrestlers the world over, is more sought after than the World Heavyweight Championship, which by name implies is the title that is contested and significant and sought after the world over.

Having said that, because of how they present it I do understand and consider the WWE Title the "better" or "main" title... I just find it odd and get what Turambar is saying due to the name thing.

Maybe if they combined the two to become to WWE Heavyweight Championship or had just called it the WWE World Championship from the start... it would at least seem more "sensible" for lack of a better word than presenting two "world" titles as they do.

I do like the look of the WWE Title though, it has grown on me since debuting it.

I still think Orton should have won the match to face Del Rio at Summerslam, won the WHC and then cashed in on Bryan to become double champ and then combined the two down the line... But it doesn't seem like WWE want to combine them at this stage.

Too bad the WWE championship belt's design can't switch with the one for the WHC.

Um, I acknowledge that :mag it's why I say it's "so-called 'extended lineage'," by virtue of its representation and use of the image of the Big Gold Belt, which had represented both WCW and NWA's world championship at points. there's obviously a link they want to bring to mind, the "traditional" world championship. But it's significant that it was Eric Bischoff who handed Triple H the title. It was an obvious passing of the torch moment from one generation (WCW) to another (WWE).

It's like Aragorn being descended from Elendil, right, who was of the same bloodline as the King of Númenor, but not the royal line. You know, because they were descended from the Lords of Andúnië, which are in turn the descendants of Silmariën, the eldest daughter of Númenor's fourth king, Tar-Elendil. Anyway, that's the jist of what I'm trying to say.

It's wishful thinking, but they may be waiting to do that with Daniel Bryan :hehe: he has history with the WHC, make it a thing. If this is a big era shift, then let's give WM30 a main event to remember. Title unification, Bryan vs. Punk, given by what many people are suspecting as a Punk turn.
