My Raw thoughts:
-Great to see Shawn back. Punk's promo was pretty good. Unfortunately the match he got put in, and the whole "Raw Roulette" thing is so utterly predictable and obviously scripted. I mean, at one point, I literally saw Eve slowing down the wheel.
-The show got pretty boring from here. Evan Bourne v. Sin Cara was a good match. Ziggler v. Kofi wasn't all that great. But I think I am just so over Kofi at this point. Everyone will be happy to know that Dolph is growing on me.
-The Del Rio v. Big Show cage match was boring. But Mark Henry getting involved was good. They are really pushing him. He's doing good with it.
-Miz & Swagger v. Mysterio & Riley actually turned into a solid match. Real torn on seeing my current favorite team up with quite possibly my current most hated. But I am loving Riley. He's not flawless in the ring, but I see a lot of potential with him. I think he's gonna be good.
-Booker T was an idiot all night. He had me rolling. Seeing DDP was nice. HBK straight burying McIntyre with a beautiful Sweet Chin Music from off camera was welcome.
-John Cena v. R-Truth was of course utterly predictable. Until CM Punk came out and cost Cena the match. Which I guess is predictable, but it was good to see Cena lose.
I was wondering why they were showing the WWE closing credits logo during the match tho. And then, I realized why.
My feelings towards CM Punk have not been a secret on this forum. I thought CM Punk was over rated around here on the microphone. I guess I was wrong.
That promo that Punk cut... that is by far going down as one of the most memorable promos I have ever seen. That promo was absolutely classic. Yes. Better than anything Miz has ever cut. Them cutting off the microphone, and then cutting to dark is obviously part of the storyline. And I think this storyline is incredible.
The best thing WWE could ever do is let CM Punk win the title at the PPV and then let him "walk". He will get so much heat. CM Punk will be absolutely rocket launched into perma main event status, and the heat he gets will be catastrophic. The way he went off on even the people who are CHEERING him makes him even that much better. It's not often, especially anymore, when I turn off a Raw in absolute awe of what I just saw. If CM Punk does *not* win the title, this will be the absolute biggest missed opportunity I have ever seen in WWE. And the sad part is, I'm not putting it passed them to miss it. In fact, I'm still not betting against Cena. In fact, watching this promo, the first thing I thought of was the Batista "kissing babies" promo as he was on his way out.
CM Punk just won me over with that promo the way Miz won me over with his promo work leading up to Wrestlemania. CM Punk just entered "He's the reason I'm buying the PPV" status. Kudos to you, Punk. Absolute kudos.
