The Wrestling Thread Mustache You a Question

That's pretty much where I'd put him. He was third tier in the Attitude Era behind Austin and Rock. That's not a bad spot to be in, but when they make him out as some sort of icon, they're overrating him.
Exactly. Austin and Rock were like the Warrior and Hogan in terms of top two. Although I don't think I'm compared Triple H to Macho Man in this comparison. I'd still say Shawn Michaels was a bigger icon in his short time in that era than Triple H ever was. And personally I've never cared about somone being a World Champion 10+ times.

Because all it mean is that you lost the belt ten times. :funny:

It's better to have a long reign as CM Punk did.

Shawn Michaels was more like Ric Flair, though he didn't make it to the top in a flourishing time as Ric did. But he did keep WWF afloat during a rough period, and put on some all time classics.

Happy 26th B-day to AJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I saw the Bret/Shawn Rivalry video a while ago, and I remember Bret talking about how being the Champion meant you were the man, and you were carrying the company, and it just seemed to have so much more importance. Whereas in most of Triple H's feuds, it seemed like the title went back and forth just to keep things interesting.

As for Shawn, I was never a Flair fan, nor did I really watch most of his matches in his career, but I know Shawn himself said how much he was looked up to and was influenced by him. And that's why Shawn is my favorite wrestler all-time because he didn't always win, but he always put on a show. But with Triple H, I usually got bored with his matches in the same way I would with Hogan because those were matches sold more by the character than the ability.

WWE Raw on Monday, March 18 scored a 3.09 rating, down nearly three-tenths from a 3.36 rating last week and way down from a 3.54 rating two weeks ago for The Undertaker's return.

Five-Week WM29 Season Trend:

2/18 - 3.30 rating
2/25 - 3.46 rating
3/4 - 3.54 rating
3/11 - 3.36 rating
3/18 - 3.09 rating

- Raw averaged 4.26 million viewers, down nearly 12 percent from last week's average of 4.81 million viewers. Also, Raw was down 800,000 viewers compared to two weeks ago when Undertaker returned.

Hourly Break Down: 4.25 million first hour viewers (fewest of 2013), 4.42 million second hour viewers (second-fewest of 2013), and 4.11 million third hour viewers (fewest of 2013).

Raw was affected by the Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics game on ESPN, with the Heat continuing a Streak of their own. The NBA game started when Raw started and came down to the final possession during Raw's final quarter-hour before the Triple H and Brock Lesnar over-run segment. Although Raw outdrew the NBA game in viewers, Heat-Celtics topped Raw in the key male demos.

I miss the Rock of this time period. Haven't been digging the new guy. :csad:

Middle-aged Rock is still cooler than just about anyone else, but in-his-prime Rock was a sight to behold.

I rewatched Scoprion King last night. It was solid, and I miss Michael Clarke Duncan. :csad::csad:

Exactly what I say to myself when they big up guys for being 10 time plus champions. :hehe:

I saw a pic recently comparing him from 2003 and the pic from his bodybuilder movie, and I was shocked at how much smaller he looked back then. But I agree, he's still great now, but back in the day he was definitely something else.

- A lot of creative changes went down within WWE around the time of this year's Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Vince McMahon hasn't been happy with the booking of WWE's undercard for a while now, which is the main reason why Eric Pankowski got fired two weeks ago.

- As noted before, the current plan is for Triple H to defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 29. The big issue is that WWE officials want Lesnar to headline WrestleMania 30 against The Rock so he shouldn't be doing any jobs now. Regarding Rock vs. Brock, the plan is to do a subtle tease with the two on the RAW the night after WrestleMania this year. The idea is to only do a tease and not push it too hard so fans won't expect it's happening at SummerSlam.

- In an update on Rey Mysterio possibly leaving WWE soon, word now is that he may be looking to be released and WWE is considering granting it if they can keep merchandise rights. Other sources indicate that WWE really wants him to stay and will be doing everything in their power to keep him.

- As noted earlier, Booker T stated on the WWE App last night that his brother from Harlem Heat, Stevie Ray, will be reuniting with him at the WWE Hall of Fame this year. The plan had been to induct Harlem Heat as a team but apparently Stevie didn't get the call to be inducted in the end.

If they want to go with Rock vs. Brock for WM30, then Punk vs. Cena surely has to be on the cards, please.

Speaking of Punk, there were a lot of people not happy with his backstage segment at last night's RAW where he juggled around Paul Bearer's urn to taunt The Undertaker. The feeling was that it wasn't as good as the Punk-Bearer-Taker stuff from the week before and that this one was bad for WWE and just bad in general. On a related note, it's said there is some kind of issue between Punk and WWE creative right now but we don't know what those problems might be.

They have a lot of nerve to bash Punk. He was given the urn to taunt Undertaker. There is only so many things he can do with it. I was sorta expecting him to toss it off a bridge or bury it in cement. I'm sure the issues with creative are the same as they've always been. The creative team works best when they stay out of the way.

Exactly what I say to myself when they big up guys for being 10 time plus champions. :hehe:

I think it's more impressive when Ric Flair says it, just because it indicates how many different World Titles in different promotions he held.

Just watched RAW. That crowd was so terrible, holy crap. Whether it was being dead for 90% of the show or chanting USA just to be *****, they sucked and sucked hard.

I think it's more impressive when Ric Flair says it, just because it indicates how many different World Titles in different promotions he held.
In a case like that, it's impressive. But I may be wrong, but I think it was Booker T who first started coming out with the "Five time World Champion" bit that people like Triple H have used and that's not impressive, especially when its in the span of a few short years.

I saw a pic recently comparing him from 2003 and the pic from his bodybuilder movie, and I was shocked at how much smaller he looked back then. But I agree, he's still great now, but back in the day he was definitely something else.

I remember reading at interview with him in 2004 or so where he talked about losing his muscle mass for auditions after several directors told him his size would resign him to action roles and bit parts. At one point, he was under 240 and looked bizarre.

I guess he's not worried about that any more since he's living in the gym again.

With a 3 hour show why don't the Divas get anytime to get a story or promos going.
TNA give the Knockouts alot of time.

I feel sorry for my love Kaitlyn since she has being champ she's done nothing, we get the wooden Layla doing this awful in awe of the belt shtick and Tamina somehow getting a shot. Now we have the Bellas back, while looking nice aren't that great.

If your not gonna use your women on the primary show why have them at all, as filler for Smackdown or the other 4 or 5 filler shows.

The less Divas the better. BOOORRRRINNNNGGGG

That's my best guess on what would happen too. Team Big Celtic Viper almost has a win but Orton screws it up for the team and The Shield gets the win.

I just wonder what Show will be doing now after WM 29 if Orton and Sheamus are going to start feuding. Hopefully Big Show doesn't end up being the next Ryback who feuds with Shield to just lose over and over :funny:

That's surprising to hear.

Everyone turns heel but no one will answer my prayer of turning Cena, lol.

Well, I know when my pee break will be.

It does kinda give a prediction already of who will win, haha.

How can you turn Kofi heel when he has no personality to speak of? Weak.

I don't think what makes this Wrestlemania lackluster is its predictability as much as the fact that there is no reason to get emotionally invested in any of the matches. I remember when a main event at wrestlemania was teased and built for months.Even the undercard got weeks of build up. It seems WWE is really confident in the drawing power of Cena/Rock II, so much so that they have put no effort in building any other matches. The Paul Bearer stuff should have been the focus of one promo, not the entire fued. Ziggler deserves more than a tag match and Jericho deserves way more than Fandago. I would have loved a Ziggler/Jericho match up for the briefcase. Aw this mania is going to blow.

They've already done Jericho v. Ziggler for the briefcase, and Ziggler has already had another briefcase match on top of that.

Jericho deserves better, but not a rehash of something already done.

Yeah you're right. Jericho does deserve a better match, like Jericho vs Fandango.....wait.

In a case like that, it's impressive. But I may be wrong, but I think it was Booker T who first started coming out with the "Five time World Champion" bit that people like Triple H have used and that's not impressive, especially when its in the span of a few short years.

It's been done by numerous wrestlers. I remember Bret Hart used to hold up his hand to show the amount of times he had been champion. Triple H wanted a high number of reigns to compare himself with Flair , but as you said , it's hardly as impressive when it's just a combination of short reigns.

Jericho does deserve better than against Ziggler yet again..But out of those two option I pick the rehash in an instant than agains Fandango and likely putting him over!

I would rather see Jericho vs Undertaker and have Punk work the main event with Rock and Cena.

You know I wouldn't be suprised at all if the reason punk is upset with creative is because he was scheduled to win his match vs Taker at WM before Pauls death, then they suddenly changed it ,with the thinking that Taker must win this match for Paul.

Ugh. Jericho vs. a rookie who's yet to have a match on either show. I was deep down hoping for a Jericho/Ziggler match, and it's going to be much worse if Jericho ends up getting pinned by Fandango. How nice.

I've always thought they had a plan, but every week, it just seems like they change their mind on this undercard. They've mostly been treading water.
