The Wrestling Thread: Oh Mah Goodness...Part 33

Punk and Cena will have something to say next week. All Orton will do when asked about it is show off an evil stare and mention that he doesn't give a damn about anything else but winning the World Title back.

A train was being run in the back.

Clearly the guy who will save the day!

I guess I'm in the minority in thinking the ending scene was well done.

Some parts don't stand up to "logic" (i.e. the veterans walking out) but keep in mind, most of the talent surrounding the ring was not around for things like the WCW invasion, the NWO, the Kiss My Ass club, women wrestling in pudding, etc.

In kayfabe terms, you could almost liken it to a company with a bunch of Gen-Y employees who have had it real easy for a while at a struggling company, who haven't experienced the real tough growth times, who overreact to change at a senior management level (which happens in real, non-wrestling companies a lot).

Obviously, the villains walk out first, because they have an agenda and will do so anyway. Then the referees, because they're (kayfabe) cowards. After that, everyone will walk out due to groupthink and peer pressure.

It could have been done better, and the absence of the top-tier heroes was glaring, but on balance I think it was well done, and I haven't been as intrigued by a wrestling plotline in years.

I think that's a pretty fair summation.

Punk basically stopped going after EVERYBODY after Hunter kicked his ass. Originally it wasn't even about Hunter but was about making positive changes in WWE. Right now Punk is just another babyface going through the motions. Even if he doesn't think HHH was behind things it's downright odd that he'd have NOTHING to say about what's been going on lately.

Punk was constantly voicing his opinion but once HHH kicked his ass he's been eerily quiet (for him at least).

There have only been 3 Raws since their match, on the first Punk brought up the idea that they were both being played. On the second Punk, Cena and Del Rio were all focused on selling last nights PPV main event. Tonight was about the big angle involving Triple H being undermined coming to a head, neither Cena or Punk spoke, next week we will hear a lot from both IMO.

I can dig the Punk/Cena vs. Awesome Truth main event in a non-sanctioned match. They were already the main event of RAW a couple weeks back, so we need a tornado match or something to mix it up.

Perhaps Punk/Cena/HHH (or Orton) vs. Awesome Truth w/Nash.

Lawler even said it tonight, "CM Punk has been saying there's somebody behind the scenes pulling the strings". Personally I think they're going to go with Stephanie.

A very good reason to miss a meeting of such importance.

Pffft...when the Godfather was still around they were lucky if half the people showed up to meetings.

Hacksaw probably hopped on the HOOOOOO train every chance he got. Thats what happens when you constantly got wood.

The only way I see Orton being in anyway involved with this at all is if Johnny Ace takes over and bans Orton from going after the World Championship as long as Mark Henry is the World Champion. Then he will have something to say about this.

New Thread title!

I need to print that out and get him to sign that photo come November.

I don't neccessarily agree on WHY we walked out, but I am for collective bargaining and workers rights... First step towards unionizing?
From Daniel Bryan's twitter.... along with what I said before, there's another logical reason why everyone walked out.

If the rumor about it being Cena/Rock/Punk/HHH/? leading team WWE against the main rebels at Survivor Series I can see why they might not have been out there. Cena and Punk could have been saving their opinions for next week after seeing what happens.

After watching the rest of the locker walk out, Cena gives a big Superman speech to bring the faces back, while Punk reaffirms his belief that it's not HHH's fault and that he wants to know who really is behind all this.

Rock could then come into this down the line because he "loves the WWE and doesn't want to see it ripped apart," but also just because he wants to make sure there still is a WWE in 6 months so he can get a piece of Cena at WM.

As for Orton, he hasn't been involved in this angle, and going by kayfabe he shouldn't really care much. He's selfish, just wants revenge and his title, and has never liked Triple H anyway, so I could see his character just not giving a **** either way.

Well said! In total agreement here.

With all those people walking out on Triple H, it was like a screening of The Chaperone or something.

With Vince and Nash being involved, they might as well as recycle this promo:

[YT]h-zhlw_hnGU[/YT]

Except replace Ric Flair with Triple H. :oldrazz:

The only thing that struck me as odd in the last segment is that the kayfabe situation in the WWE just isn't that bad right now. I mean, so we have wrestlers who beat up referees and commentators, a bunch of sneak attacks after important matches... and that's about it. That's nothing really audacious. This whole "oh noes, it's a total anarky right now!!!11!!1" thing is like... a regular night during the Attitude Era, and even the later pre-05-06 years. I mean come on, the roster was made to look like a bunch of wussies.

Christian, Regal and Booker T walk out? They were here long enough to see the same stuff happening in the early 00s. They didn't complain then, and sometimes they were part of it.
Mark Henry walking out? He's the World's Strongest Man and prides that he fears nobody (and actually was the one who put the King trough the table thus adding to the feel of fear and chaos among the staff just 2 weeks ago...), but he's concerned about "safe work environment"? That's bull****.

And the cherry at the top - HHH himself. The whole thing makes no sense with his character. He's beat up referees, he's beat up JR at least twice, he's jumped people from behind. One of his signature moves is hitting a guy with a sledgehammer. And if we look at the storylines he's been involved with (running Stone Cold over with a car, drugging and maybe even raping Stephanie back in '99 and more assaults than I care to count), his character should be, like, in jail if the whole thing was realistic. But now he fires the Miz and R-Truth because they punched a referee?
Not to mention that for a guy whose character was built to be, essentially, an evil mastermind, he's actually kinda dumb lately. I mean, seriously, I called it that Johnny Ace was a traitor secretly working for Vince months ago. And yet HHH, who is supposed to be Smarter Than Thou, just stands there dumbfounded and everyone wonders what the hell is going on and who pulls the strings. It's like a Scooby Doo mystery for Pete's sake...

The last segment might have worked if the situation was really hazardous. The attack of the Miz and R-Truth at Hell in a Cell was good in and of itself, but it wasn't a danger enough to warrant the whole roster walking out. But the situation just isn't dangerous enough. Now the roster looks like a bunch of cowards and HHH looks like an idiot. Nobody came out looking good out of that segment

I'd be happy with anybody behind the conspiracy, but Vince. Unfortunately, I won't get my wish.

Very true, but its nice to see the Cerebral Assassin gets a taste of his own medicine.

C'moooon winged eagle WWE title belt!

Keep hope alive!

Yeah, when I read that KK didn't lose clean I rolled my eyes and lol'd.

She's the female John Cena and since the b*tch wouldn't stay down, Natalya had to resort to drastic measures.

I'm a little confused by Kelly's "heel turn" though (lol sore loser which reminded of Michelle McCool's heel turn she did upon losing the Women's Championship). Does this means a face turn for Beth in return?

Glad to read he won clean over Orton. Twice in a row now.

Yeah, no kidding. Who else could say they did besides Cena, Helmsley, and Batista?

- As noted before, WWE has written The Great Khali out of the storylines by announcing that he suffered a fractured fibula at the hands of World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry.

Word going around at Hell in a Cell was that The Great Khali is done with WWE and it will be a long time until he returns as an active wrestler, if ever. Khali's deal is expiring and will not be returning anytime soon.

The feeling among some of the WWE writers and wrestlers is that Khali's run with WWE is finished up so he's headed back to India to focus on acting. The talk is that Khali, a one-time World Heavyweight Champion, will maintain a relationship with WWE to possibly work on WWE Studios projects and other things.

- While it may appear to some that WWE has halted CM Punk's push or put him on the backburner, sources say that is not the case. WWE officials were very surprised at new merchandise numbers for Punk. Punk is now one of the company's top sellers and is neck-and-neck with John Cena. In one demographic, likely males, Punk is on pace to pass Cena in sales.

Because of Punk's success coming out of the summer storylines, WWE officials are now actively looking for ways to monetize him. WWE Studios are looking for projects that Punk could star in and there is talk of doing a CM Punk book, in part because the company hasn't had many books lined up as of late. There are also plans to release more Punk merchandise soon. Punk is also planned to be a bigger part of WWE programming and pay-per-views going into 2012. Word is that the company will be going "full blown" when it comes to Punk.

Regarding creative plans, Punk is scheduled to headline several upcoming pay-per-views with WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio. There's no word yet where John Cena will fit into the feud, if he will at all. Some have questioned WWE's booking of Punk as of late but it's said that WWE is trying to build sympathy for his losses as a part of something bigger.

and having the Diva's chim in with the "but we're girls" comment is counter productive.
Beth could probably kick some of the mens rosters asses. It would of been a better arguement if she complained about the divas not being given their due and her her having to face Kelly Kelly every other week.
The camera man? Really?
I liked the camera men walking out I also liked Miz and Truth giving the camera men a beat down at HITC.
Barrett talking about unsafe working conditions was ridiculous. Triple H acting like he's not a hypocrite was ridiculous as well considering he's done much worse things than Miz and Truth and gotten away with it.
Miz and Truth should comeback saying that beacuse Triple H is the chairmans son-in-law he never got punished as bad as they did.
The show felt like it was missing something--and that's not just my "CM Punk should do all the promos, forever" bias talking.
It would of been funny to see CM Punk comeout and just pipebomb the entire roster :woot:

His got enough dirt to destroy most of them.

I can get why Henry did it, he just doesn't like HHH and would like him removed, same with all the heels. But yeah, some people walking out made no sense, like Air Boom. And what about Santino, is he going to blame HHH for his car accident?

WWE Hall of Famer Knocks a Top WWE Star, Has Brief Exchange with Jericho

Posted by Marc Middleton on 10/04/2011
- WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Von Erich had some comments about some of the top WWE Superstars on his Twitter account after watching the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view this weekend. Here are some of his comments:

"The WWE supercard last night was bad. The cage used to be for the blow off to a big feud. Now they use it to set up the next TV taping.Sad

Texas has produced some great talent................. Mark Henry is not one of them. Damn he is boring. Texas produced great talent like @ShawnMichaels_ . Although he was a real jerk as a human being. Undertaker is a true pro.

@WadeBarrett is a guy who would have fit in great in the old territory days."

Von Erich also had a brief Twitter exchange with Chris Jericho after some comments he made. Theirs went like this:

Von Erich: "Chris Jericho is another guy I never saw anything in. He is a prima donna."

Jericho: "At least i wore boots in the ring :)"

Von Erich: "But you didn't wear a good attitude. I don't mean to come down on @IAmJericho but he has an exaggerated opinion of his abilities. I might not have worn boots when I worked but I also didn't get blonde highlights in my hair when I was in my 40s."

Hasn't Kevin got some graves to visit? I mean that must take up best part of his week.

With Vince and Nash being involved, they might as well as recycle this promo:

Vince doing his best Emperoor impression! :lmao:..........Man that angle went nowhere.

This sounds right to me, I don't see any halt on his push, God knows we don't want them to do what they did with Cena and shove him down the throats of the audience. He has been protected well in the losses, he's hugely over and selling more merch than anyone, Rome wasn't built in a day and all that.

who here thinks Triple H will start turning more "heelish" after what happened last night?

I have a feeling he's going to start taking a more hardline approach......iow, no more "mr. nice boss."

Cm Punk has headlined 4 straight PPVS I don't know how anyone can say the push has been halted.

John Morrison cries about Triple H not mentioning his birthday...and other stuff...

Monday was WWE Superstar John Morrison's birthday where he had another loss on RAW to Mark Henry. Morrison then went on Twitter and let some feelings out via @TheRealMorrison

"Thoughts I had tonight during RAW tonight in Lafayette… Damn, I just got my ass kicked…

…I wonder if John Laurintis’s current promo work is any indication of his aptitude as a wrestler during past in ring endeavors…

...HHH says we work for the WWE universe. Hmmm, yup, I agree with that… I wonder if he’s going to mention my birthday… nope.

…If the WWE universe is paying our checks maybe the pay scale among us independent contractors should be a bit more evenly distributed…maybe forming a union is a good idea… all other entertainment and sporting entities have them…getting an individual health insurance policy after neck surgery is not easy...I wonder if HHH has an individual health insurance plan, or gets group coverage because he’s classified as an employee…

...Wait a minute, when did we nominate @wadebarrett to speak on our behalf? … haha, Barrett talks like a pirate… I like chaos! If they all leave & I stay, maybe HHH & I could do 5 backstage segments, an in ring promo, and an hour match next week! who am I kidding, HHH is a narcissist. He doesn't think I'm at his level- His main concern is positioning himself as the center of attention …maybe walking out will get HHH to realize he can’t do this alone, the WWE Universe wants to see different people in the mix… there's a roster full of superstars that want chaos, that want the ball, that want to be on the road at every WWE event...

…the past is always afraid of the future… HHH’s ego is hungry. He’s got a steak dinner every Monday night!

The only people who looked good during that segment were Cena, Punk, Orton, K Dub, Sheamus and I think Eve, of course, that's because none of them were out there. Punk and Cena will have something to say, while Orton won't give a damn.
