Did JabaR just reference something I like? I'm so conflicted........

You know you're a wrestling fan when you're watching the end of Return of the Jedi and you suddenly hear JR in your head saying:

"Vader! Vader! Vader! The Chosen One has had all he can stand, and he's taking Palpatine to the woodshed, King!"

Yes!

To condense it, he'll now be on Team Blue with the rest of us because he's not quite fond of the new requirements for Team Red.

Team Blue?? Team Red??

is there some kind of Hype competition going on?

As anyone whose watched Foster's home for Imaginary Friends knows, Bloo > Red

Another one down. Sean O'Haire just passed. :csad:

The Boston Herald has an interview with Booker T, who was promoting the new Monday Night War series on the WWE Network. Below are a couple of highlights:

Sting saying he was scared of signing with WWE because of a segment between Booker T and Rock where Rock said that he had never heard of him:

"I've heard Sting make that commen. I was mad I had that confrontation with The Rock because I had to build myself all over again.

"The WCW guys were supposed to be buried. None of us were supposed to make it, but I'm the only guy who was willing to step up to the plate and go in there and survive. I went to WWE to prove something. I had to go through Steve Austin, the Undertaker, Edge, I had to go through all of those guys to prove myself. I didn't want to wake up at 50 years old and wonder if I could have competed with those guys, I wanted to know in my own mind I was just as good."

An important talk he had with Vince McMahon:

"One of the most important talks I ever had was with Vince McMahon right after I'd got to WWE. I had so many different agents telling me I had to go out and work this way and that way, and I knew — if I listened to those guys — I was going to get fired.
"So I went to Vince and explained, 'I've got this agent telling me this, another telling me that, and I know I'm going to get fired doing it their way. I'd like to go out and do it my way. If you don't like what you see, just fire me.' Vince looked straight at me and said, 'Do your stuff, Book.' From that point on, I had the green light to just be me."

Booker also discussed the significance of the nWo, remembering meeting with Linda McMahon more than Vince, the pop he received when he returned at the 2011 Royal Rumble, the difference between the WWE and WCW environments and more. Damn, O'Haire had one of the most awesome gimmicks that was never given a real chance to shine.

They should have asked him how he felt about his Wrestlemania XIX feud.

:o

Sean O' Haire had lots of potential out of the Natural Born Killers and was in a great tag team with Mark Jindrak. He had a graceful version of Jeff Hardy's move called the Seanton Bomb. In WWE, he had the dark preacher gimmick and was aligned with Rowdy Roddy Piper. Retired in 2006, he did MMA, bodyguard, and ran a barber shop business until his passing. He will be missed by the wrestling community and fans. RIP

Damn, he was young too. :csad:

Sean Christopher Haire, 43, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, September 8, 2014, at his home. Born February 25, 1971, in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of John Ernest Haire of the home and the late Sheila Scoggins Zeek.

Sean was a former WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) wrestler for many years as "Sean O'Haire". He was a very gentle and kind person that studied Buddism and was employed as a personal trainer at Exzel Fitness in Spartanburg.

In addition to his father, he is survived by a sister, Erin Alverson Haire of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Andrew Renny Lands of Spartanburg, SC, Shane Cecil Joseph Haire of Rock Hill, SC, Shan Ezra Haire of Statesville, GA; and Theodore the cat.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held 1:00-3:00 PM Saturday, September 13, 2014, at his home at 510 Hampton Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29306.

I thought he was awesome and he should've been a bigger star. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to meet him (ironically, got both Palumbo and Jindrak though), but I've been told by the lucky few fans that did that he was a cool guy. I did get to see him perform live at a house show 11 years ago as he, Chuck Palumbo, Tommy Dreamer, Shawn Stasiak, Mike Awesome, & Hugh Morrus took on The Big Show, Billy Gunn, Albert, Scotty 2 Hotty, and Hardcore & Crash Holly in a huge tag team match.

In 1999, I was in Atlanta, Georgia for my first tryout with WCW. What no one knew was that I went into it with a decimated left shoulder (I had partial reconstructive surgery the following year, which explains the big scar that I wear to this day). I really shouldn't have even been there with the injury.

As part of my evaluation, I was tasked by Paul Orndorff and company with wrestling opposite Sean O'Haire in an amateur-style match. As we were set to begin, I secretly said to him, "Please watch my left shoulder, it's gone."

With everyone watching, he didn't say a word. He simply looked me in the eye, and nodded a subtle "yes" in response.

We had our "match", which I put in quotes because at any point he could've yanked on my arm and exposed me, which would've showed everyone that I was hurt. If he chose to he could've easily embarrassed me physically. He didn't.

Instead, he worked with me. He took care of me, never touching my left arm, and really served to help me look better than I should have. And even though I ended up not signing WCW's contract, I have never ever forgotten what he did.

Godspeed, Sean O'Haire. Thank you again, and rest in peace.

I just read about the passing of a 43 year old Sean O'haire. We die so young. You never know when your match will get cut short and you're gonna have to take it home earlier than planned. Tell your people that you love them. And make sure your affairs are in order. It's a pro wrestler thing. Life is beautiful. Appreciate it.

Apparently O'Haire's death was a suicide:

As we reported late Tuesday night, former WWE and WCW Superstar Sean O'Haire (real name Sean Haire) was found dead at age 43 at his home in South Carolina.

In an update to this story, TMZ is reporting that Haire committed suicide. Below is an excerpt from their article.

"According to local police, O'Haire was found in his bedroom, beside his bed, with a red rope tied around his neck and connected to the bedpost. His body was discovered by his father, who then called 911."

Damn. :(

Triple H hosted a conference call with WZ and the wrestling media earlier today, and fielded questions on a variety of topics relating to NXT, the Performance Center and the WWE Network series “The Monday Night Wars.”

Below are highlights of the call as well as audio of his opening remarks where he touches on the state of NXT and his excitement for NXT Takeover 2 this Thursday on the WWE Network:

- Triple H opened with a joke about he was the one playing the piano music we heard while on hold waiting to begin.

- He says he doesn’t really like to use the term “developmental” anymore with NXT because it’s become its own brand.

- Triple H compares NXT to what ECW was. He noted how it’s a feeder system for talent to move up in the business. He repeated this comparison several times throughout and also stated if NXT is ECW right now, his goal is to make it to the level of what WCW was.

- Compliments were given to the Adrian Neville, Tyler Breeze, Sami Zayn and Tyson Kidd for their recent performances and his excitement for what they are going to do Thursday night in the main event title match. He spoke on each of them.

- Zayn has been impressing Triple H and he’s proud of how much more Zayn has grown as a performer going from wrestling under a mask on the independents to the facial expressions and stories he tells now.

- He said Tyson Kidd is using this as an opportunity to catapult back to being a regular on the main roster.

- Praised Charlotte and Bayley and how at a recent NTX live event they had a women’s match for the main event.

- Promised someone will be bald by the end of Thursday night after the hair versus hair match involving Enzo Amore and Sylvester Lefort.

- Puts over the debut appearance for Kenta Thursday night

- He was asked about recently signed guys like Kevin Steen, Kenta and Prince Devitt being referred to by their names they used outside of WWE and if they will get to keep them. Triple H noted it’s likely we’ll hear changes but there’s a lot of factors. He talks about intellectual property business and branding them as WWE guys. He notes that he feels it’s pointless to pretend like people don’t know who they are and he wants to embrace their past that got them to NXT.

- Talks about the Performance Center when asked about possibility of working with NFL or other organizations. He said talent is talent and talked about how they will find talent anywhere as long as they have something to offer.

- He told a funny story about he was ringside for a live event not long ago at Madison Square Garden where Bray Wyatt wrestled John Cena in the main event. Triple H said he leaned over Wyatt’s shoulder during his entrance, Wyatt was still in character but Triple H asked him, “So, have you ever been in the main event at MSG?” He said Wyatt’s facial expression had a big change and it was like a kid at christmas because he realized how cool of an opportunity and experience this was.

- He talked about enjoying the Monday Night Wars series on WWE Network. He spoke when asked about Mick Foley and said how important he was to the time period, as well as Foley was one of his favorite opponents ever.

- Triple H talked more on the growing following for NXT. He said they can run live events at 300 person armories or civic centers and sell the place out. He noted how NXT talents have their own merchandise now and it’s become a legitimate place to be and still grow.

- He closes with a nice thank you to us for taking part in the call. He says it’s important for these open forums with him and would rather us communicate than assume the answers or the worst.

- His final remarks were condolences to Sean O’Haire’s family and had some genuine words to say about O’Haire and his unfortunate passing.

He's like the complete opposite of Vince.

I can't wait for the day he has 100% control. Wrestling will be a major deal again like it was in the 90's.

Goddamnit, I love how Triple H the executive thinks. I wish it was translated more often into the onscreen product.

Ouch. Hate to see someone go out that way.

Trips in charge is best for business.

Who else is scared Dean Ambrose may turn heel at NOC? I know it sounds Russo-esque, but I can see them turning Ambrose under the guise that he is mad Reigns didn't help him. Why, because I can see the front office wanting to kill Ambrose's popularity so it doesn't take away from Reigns. Just like they did with Cesaro.

I may be being paranoid, but I see just as much money in Ambrose as I do Reigns. He has the Stone Cold, Mick Foley, Brian Pillman quality. Not only that, I feel like Ambrose is a guy who could wrestle Brock before Mania, lose, and come out looking better in defeat. Just like Cesaro could have and I hate the idea of wasting Brock matches on guys like the Big Show.

I currently see more money in Ambrose than Reigns right now.

Reigns is still too limited on his own. He needs more time to refine his in ring skills to match his charisma.

Ambrose has the right balance needed right now. He should be Reigns' spot.

TNA's gotten pretty entertaining for me. Tonight I got to watch Tajiri, Rhino, the Dudleys, and Hardys. Never thought that would happen again.
