The Wrestling Thread Wasn't Actually Drafted...It Just Showed Up! - Part 241

The heat keeps up, I don't think the WWE fires JBL, but I do think he'll resign.

The talk about video games the other day got me thinking of a legends only game with gameplay more like the older WWE games.

If this gets out to the mainstream press, but it probably won't.

Deadspin and Forbes are the only ones who have covered this so I don't think WWE is feeling significant heat.

they should bring back the All Stars game and make that a secondary franchise that focuses on fast, fun, arcadey action vs the sim approach of WWE 2K.

That crappy mobile game is probably the closest we'll get to another All Stars.

Gruden isn't all that great either, he likes everyone and everything

IMO the best NFL broadcast team just got broken up last year

Kevin Burkhardt and John Lynch were Fox' #2 team until Lynch took the GM job

Aikman is bad, Simms is horrid and Im happy Romo is replacing him, and Jim Nantz blows the Patriots every time he calls one of their games

Nantz has an err of pretentiousness about him because he covers the most boring sport on TV: Golf.

The reason JBL is going to get away with it is because he did it to a guy that no one cares about. If he had harassed a star then it would be a different story.

JBL would never harass a star because either A. they'd have more clout than him or B. they'd whoop his @$$.

I hope JBL harasses some guy who unbeknownst to everyone has rich parents, and can then sue the **** out of WWE for this kind of BS. WWE is a publicly traded corporation now, shareholders aren't going to want to keep funding legal settlements for the sake of one non-essential employee.

I don't mind the sim approach if they actually make it fun, but in my opinion developer Yukes hasn't made a good game since NJPW Toukon Retsuden 4 on SEGA Dreamcast. The first WWF Smackdown game was a very, very glitchy and watered down Toukon Retsuden game, and the rest of the series follows suit. Even 18 games later, the WWE 2K series is still missing basic features from NJPW Toukon Retsuden.

AKI Corporation made the good sims in the series: WWF No Mercy, WWF Wrestlemania 2000, WCW/nWo: Revenge, WCW/nWo: World Tour, etc.

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier comments on the reaction Roman Reigns got last week:

"I was watching WWE WrestleMania last weekend and I said 'Wow, it would be great if Roman Reigns pins The Undertaker, clean. It's how the 'Old school' guys do business. Monday night, Roman Reigns walked out to the ring and they booed him for ten minutes, would not allow him to talk, it was the most organic crowd they've had in a really long time. He said 'This is my yard' and he left. It was perfect, because they were playing the game for him."

Cormier would be dead right IF the WWE's booking of Roman actually supported that. But it doesn't; they're still trying to make him a vanilla hero, and it hasn't been working for years.

Been hearing that the SuperStar shake up is now going to be a 2 night event it will be happening on Raw and on SD.

I would think that champions, the injured/inactive and recent NXT call ups would not be moved.

The Mortician debuts in Impact Wrestling

An eerie chill fell over the Impact Zone tonight as an ominous newcomer, heralded by the toll of a bell and wispy smoke, slowly made his way to the six-sided ring of Impact Wrestling.

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Lashley stood in stunned silence as the towering, tattooed rookie ascended the ring steps and, simply by raising his arms, illuminated the soundstage.

“That’s… that’s… that’s gotta be The Mortician!” bellowed an incredulous Jeremy Borash on commentary. “I thought he was only a myth!”

The Mortician rolled his eyes back in his head, revealing only the whites, after removing his wide-brimmed hat, causing thunderclaps to echo throughout the venue.

The dozens and dozens of fans packed into the Impact Zone erupted as The Mortician attacked Lashley, hitting him first with an elevated powerbomb dubbed The Final Ride, followed by an inverted piledriver called The Gravestone.

The Mortician then grabbed the microphone and vowed to make the entire Impact roster “Relax in solace.”

That's what bothers me too. He's not booked like scum or even an antihero but as an invincible superhero I'm supposed to root for. People trying to act like what happened last week was a great thing make me shake my head.

Depends on where they go with it.

If they go the heel route, it's great, if he goes back to being a broke man's Cena then it's just as dumb.

The heel route really is a believe when i see it situation. These are really stubborn people.

Vince is surrounded by yes men. Anyone with some common sense would of told Vince years ago that carny hazing/bullying s*** doesn't fly anymore. It especially is a bad idea when your trying to present your business as professional and family entertainment.
