Which kind of atmoshpere to you prefer when you watch a film?

Do you prefer a sit down and shut up approach?

Or do you prefer a more vocal audience, Cheering and laughing?

I prefer a sit down and shut up environment, was weirded out when I went to see X-me in Florida when I was on holiday. The audience laughed and cheered. I was like ****! I'm trying to watch the film!

But recently with Crank, the audience really pumped me up for the movie. The UK audience was wetting themselves, and I enjoyed it more.

So which do you prefer?

Sit down **** STOP LOOKING AT YOUR DAMN CELL PHONES EVERY five SECONDS (can't stand those bright ass blue lights)... and watch the F###ing film

It depends on the movie. With 300 I totally grooved on the audience being vocal, when I went to see Zodiac and some ass was on his cell phone for a good two minutes and another guy was snoring up front. That was a put off for. Zodiac really requires a quiet, need to get into and follow this movie closely environment. But somehow I still managed to really love Zodiac.

People can laugh at jokes and stuff but if you talk during a film I've waited months to see they shall die!

Respectully responds to what's happening on the film is what I like...

It depends on which film and what mood I am in watching it.
Horror movies are a must for people to be in it and talk, for example.
Movies like Snakes on a Plane and The Grudge 2 were GREAT/VERY FUN because of the movie audience.

Obviously it depends on the film. If you're watching a comedy and it's dead silent, that's boring. If you're watching a horror flick and nobody jumps/shrieks, that's lame. And of course they have to be appropriate crowd reactions. If it's just some lone d!khead talking on his phone, then yeah, no ones gonna like that. But for the most part, yes, crowd participation is a positive thing. That's the best part of midnight premiers. You're with the hardcore fans that know how/when to enjoy the movie.

only vocal when its suppossed to be....... (comdeys... amazing fatality...etc)

I wouldn't want to see Spider-Man 3, and hear "OMG, itz teh Venomz!"

I thought you meant vocal like talking with your friends, saying hello to everyone... no one wants that!! :P

no but, now that you explained it, I prefer the crowd that cheers and laughs and gets all into it together... I wouldn't call that vocal, but I love when the entire theater cheers at moments like in 300 or the upcoming Spider-Man 3... it's just awesome!

I can't enjoy a film unless I'm able to make comments during it. Me and my roommate got into an argument over this when we went to go see TMNT.

It depends on the movie. When I saw Batman Begins and the Spider-man movies, the crowds were very vocal, which I liked. Laughed when they were supposed to, the revals and what not, it added to the experience. But for most of the movies I see, I want people to shut the hell up. It's annoying when you hear people talking all the way through. I saw 300 and some goons in the back wouldn't shut up.
