I'm walking by the front door when I see something in a crack between the door frame and the wall where the frame has separated from the wall alittle. I bend down to see what it was and it moved. Well once I saw what it was I pulled it out by the tail and placed a fireplace poker on it's head, Just in case it was poisonous, It wasn't. It was about 5 inchs long and turned out to be a northern ring necked snake. He wasn't the only one in there. It looked like there might have been 2 more in the crack but they got away before I could pull them out. The one I had I took out and let go in the woods out by my house but I think the others may still be in the wall somewhere.:wow: :woot:

This is what the northern ring necked snake looks like.

 Damn, that must have been a bit of a shock. It's good to hear that you treated it in a humane way and released it back outside, as opposed to killing it. Steve Irwin would be proud. :(

are you looking to peacefully extract them without causing them harm or perhaps getting an exterminator?

I think they will just go away the same way they got in. They just came in because it's been cold here. I'm not too worried about them. I pluged up the crack so they won't be coming back that way. If I find them I will catch them and take them out but I'm not going to pay an exterminator to put holes in my wall to kill some harmless snakes.

Your luck I had to adult Copper Heads in my house and tried to get them but they were poisonous so I trapped them and had to have a pet control take them away.

I had a close call w/my dogs a couple of summers back. One morning they were madly sniffing at a raft that was lying on my dock. I lifted it up and sure enough, there was a fat 2' copperhead sleeping underneath. Fortunately, it made a b-line for the water and swam off.

My mailman was bitten once and treated w/anti-venom - he was pretty sick for a while but eventually recovered. If a dog gets bitten it's "Goodbye Fido."

Make sure it doesn't eat Ice Cube or Jennifer Lopez.

It's okay if it eats Owen Wilson, though, he wanted to stay.

Wonder how long before some sicko redubs Woody's line into, "There's a motherf***ing snake in my motherf***ing boot!"

I am glad you didn't kill it. They really mean us no harm and most are not poisonous. They actually help control rodents and other small pest.

Good work Superman  It's nice to hear about people respecting the animals and habitats around them.

The snake is cute, glad you didn't kill them

Animals that aren't harmful to you, shouldn't be harmed by a human that thinks it is bigger and better.

make sure to put a barrier between you and the snakes. luggage would be best.
