There might be a more serious FF3 and here's why.........

A Johnny Storm spin-off film? VERY Doubtful...

As shown in the movie, contrary to how Reed thought Johnny felt, Johnny is all about the team. Hence why he was so hurt at the notion of them separating and going solo.

If there's anything FF:ROTSS showed, its that Johnny is a team player. A solo movie on his own would complete contradict his attitude portrayed in this movie.

I'm all up for a more serious F4 sequel, and I'm surprised to see Evans agrees on this. It's great to see that someone who receives the most development in these films is willing to use some of that influence to see to it that a sequel is made with more weight and less camp for the sake of camp. I also agree with what Willie mentioned- this movie was good, but the Barbershop moments are still plaguing what could be A material. They don't need to kill the family feel, just try less harder to appeal to people with bad additions to the film.

With Evans I agree.

This movie may have been a little less sitcomy but it was still shallow. I think he and Chiklis are great in these movies and if there is a third (not a garuntee at this point) let them fly away with it.

I want to see a more serious film that while funny can explore these characters in a more complex fashion. I just think Fox is lazy to get a product out qick and afraid the audience will be "lost' hence the dumbing down of X3 and both FF movies.

That's just a hinderence and outside of Alba and amybe Grufford being unable tok eep up and I'd like to see this new take.

But even if there is a third, I doubt we will at Fox.

Oh well.

Sounds great, but I still could care less if there is a 3rd film one way or another. As long as FOX is at the helm, the F4 will never be what it could. Don't get me wrong I would more then likly go and see FF3, but I'm not hyped or waiting for another to be made. It's kind of like Jurrasic Park at this point for me, I'll more then likly see it if the trailer interests me, but I'm not looking foward to one.

Also since evans is wanting a more serious tone, I hope FOX reads this and for the LOVE OF GOD JUST LEAVE ALBA HOW SHE NATURALLY LOOKS. Chris Evans isn't blond haired and not sdure if he has blue eyes, but that full Anglo look on ALBA is just terriable.

What do people want ? A Batman Begins type movie ? :csad: The formula has worked for 5 decades. They go all Ultimate FF, the'll lose many of the fanbase that has made the comic great. Me for 1. KISS, keep it simple stupid. They go dark and serious it goes down the tubes guaranteed. Keep what has worked for so long.

Yeah, why change? It's just a 75% down from Friday to Friday. It's going so well now. They should make it even lighter. Maybe if they make it lighter they can have an 85% drom from Friday to Friday for FF3.

Sarcasm over....

Keep what has worked? Gimme a break. It's not working. No one cares. room 1408 is beating FF2 in 1000 fewer theaters.

It's going to turn a profit. I'm not even worried about that. I saw what I liked, and that's whats important. As did many others. The fan does not worry about the box office. That's for the bean counters. That's for Fox, and Marvel, not the fan.

For the last time serious does not have to equal Batman Begins. Buffythe Vampire Slayer is a humorous series with an edge.

But I agree, changing the formula this late in the game might be a huge risk.

Yeah Jessica would want a lighter FF3. She won't hurt her pretty little head trying to actually act instead of just being hot.

Oh and Chris Evans is the man, that's why he can flat out say that.

It doesn't have to be "dark" to be more "real".

For example: Think about Jaws. There are a lot of very funny moments, but those funny moments are based on reality and people being people in extraordinary circumstances . . . not overdone reaction shots and goofy music.

Consider the scene in Jaws in which Brody says: "We need a bigger boat." If, instead of playing it the way he did, Spielberg had cut to an overdone reaction shot from Quint and played goofy music after Brody says his line (and done similar things at other similar moments), that would have gone from being a funny, real moment in an otherwise serious film to a goofy moment in a goofy film.

As I mentioned in my first post, it's not that the film isn't dark enough, it's that Tim Story overplays the "funny" moments and ruins the sense of drama.

X2 had humor, as did X1, and both were serious movies. Heck, the SM movies have some cornball humor in them, but they are quite serious.

..what does doom mean with "marco polo"? ..it's some kind of slang or what? ..i don't get it. i just know marco polo was an italian trader and explorer of the XI century famous for his travels. i don't remember exactly the context in which doom says the words, i think he was trying to find sue while she was invisible.. i see everywhere that this marco polo thing is considered ..campy ..corny or something like that... why? what the hell does it mean???

Marco Polo is a children's swimming game where you have one person with their eyes closed, and others will say "marco" someone else says "polo" and the person with the eyes closed tries to catch them. When you are caught you become the "blind" person .... and so on......

Sue was invisible and he couldn't see her, so hence the stupid line.....

oh thank you very much! ..now that's all clear :O

I think they already took a move in that direction in this movie. Jonny's story arch is going from this hot headed kid with no discipline and no responsibility, to someone who wants to be respected for doing the right thing and a team player.

Well, that's the first time I've heard what that line actually meant. Now I know...

Thanks for the explanation!

However, since people obviously don't know the meaning, the line didn't work at all. As humour, it's shaky, and if people don't get the humour, it's not so much shaky as vibrating itself to nothing.

Bad line, bad bad line, needs a good spanking...

It's not that the movies are lighthearted, it's that they're camp. That's why they are so lame.

Chris Wants More Serious Fantastic Four

Chris Evans has been speaking out about The Fantastic Four films, and he's been quite honest about their lack of weight and the less than serious tone. It seems he wants them to change, and is promising it will for the third outing.

Chris Evans has said that there are a lot of people involved with the film and a lot with their own opinions, so it's tricky when all these opinions are fighting to be noticed. He says that they are getting there and everyone is making revisions. However his comments on what could be coming are the more interesting.

"I think I’d just like to see the characters grow up. I like to see them more mature. I think that we’re starting to see [with "Rise of the Silver Surfer"] that if we give these guys depth — if we don’t shy away from taking a more serious tone — it will still work, it will still be a family movie. We can make it real...I think that if this movie does ok and people respond with the appreciation of a more serious tone, hopefully [with] the third one we can inch closer to a legitimate cast and a legitimate film."

So he's after a film that we all want to see, something far more serious and darker, and yet still managing to be a family film. Well, a bit of a family film, not the kiddie friendly film we've seen in the first two outings.

In his comments over at MTV Movies Blog he has some other comments about one of his fellow actors

"Chiky [Michael Chiklis] does such a good job with The Thing...I think they should throw him a couple more bones with the plot and let him show some more depth [for part three]."

I think they could all do with some serious bucketfuls of levity. I've never really taken to the Four because of their childish appeal, but if they were to darken it more, bring more reality and seriousness to it, I could see myself being drawn in. Would you be?

Sorry, Chris! Can't have that. Maturity, depth, and seriousness are definitely a no no.

Such a film might actually score well with the critics. And if it scores well with the critics, everyone here will hate it, because everyone here hates the critics.

Hopefully, they can find a middle ground where a majority of critics and fans are relatively happy...and the film does well.

Spider-Man managed it, until the third instalment where things went a bit wrong. X-Men also managed it, until the third instalment.

But I think the world the FF exist in is fine, and I wouldn't want to see it imitating Spider-Man or X-Men. They just need to ease off on the campy humour and add to the emotional moments.

Isn't this what they promised for the second time around?

I dont want to see a darker FF...I just want to see a really good FF movie (I like FF2 but there is still room for improvement)...Just look at the incredibles, the movie is really light hearted and has lots of camp but its still great!

Its such a fun game :O (I dont care I still play it :o )
The line isn't that bad to me...I dont care for it, the really bad line was:
"susan, lets not fight"
"no.........................LETS!!!!!!"
lol
