I wouldn’t go quite that far, but if a younger Andrew Garfield(who quite frankly is a much better actor than Tobey) was cast in the Raimi films first and Maguire was cast in the Webb films then I highly doubt Tobey Maguire would be as beloved in the role as he is now.

Yeah Andrew and Emma were in the unfortunate position of being sandwiched in between SM and the MCU Spidey series. But they are objectively the most talented pairing we've seen so far. I love watching the TASM films just for them alone, story problems aside.

This. I’ve said this plenty of times before when the entire “favorite Spider-Man” debate pops up. Andrew elevated a lack luster script because he just understood the actor and brought this high level energy to the role. It’s not in Tobeys nature and he couldn’t have delivered that interpretation of the character for those films. Not his fault. He doesn’t have the voice for it due to his almost monotone way of talking.

You put Andrew/Emma in those films instead of Tobey/Dunst and everyone would love Andrew/Emma because they are far and away the best pairing on screen for any of the Spider movies. It’s not even remotely close.

It really sounds like they gave Andrew a chance to shine. It’s not just “Tom, Tobey, and that other guy no one cared about”. Andrew’s celebrity is going to shoot up massively after this movie I think

This is more then a grain of salt.

It’s all through Reddit as well with multiple people
saying things along those lines. Usually I don’t believe anything I hear ever. But this seems legit. Spoiler filled reviews on Reddit and posts are echoing sentiments along those lines as well.

Andrew is going to kill it.

So true. I love the Raimi series, but Andrew is my favorite to hone the role and it honestly just feels so vindicating to see him about to get the love he deserves.
