they should do a Dungeons & Dragons film based on the 'toon--

Peter Jackson is the first person to come to mind. I loved the cartoon growing up & always wanted to see a live action version with the same characters from the cartoon.

Chris Columbus. Mike Newell and, Alfonso Cuarón would all be a good choices as they did a great individual jobs on the Harry Potter movies.

Some others could be:

Peter Jackson - LoTR
David Twohy - The Chronicles of Riddick
Andrew Adamson - The Chronicles of Narnia
Sam Raimi - Spider-Man, Xena and Army of Darkness

Kiefer Sutherland Headlines Final Movie Cast

Friday, 14 July 2006

Casting for the movie has now been completed with Kiefer Sutherland assuming voicing duties for Raistlin Majere. Sutherland is of course best known as Jack Bauer from TV's "24", however he also has a string of acclaimed movie roles to his credit. Sutherland joins a voice cast which includes Lucy Lawless ("Xena: Warrior Princess") as Goldmoon, Michael Rosenbaum ("Smallville") as Tanis Half-Elven, and Michelle Trachtenberg ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") as Tika Waylan, for the animated movie adaptation of "Dragons of Autumn Twilight".

Other significant roles in the film include:
Fred Tatasciore (Flint Fireforge)
Rino Romano (Caramon Majere)
Jason Marsden (Tasslehoff Burrfoot)
Mark Worden (Sturm Brightblade)

I personnally can hardly wait for this. I read the books and loved them. The characters are very could and just the fact that Kiefer Sutherland is the voice of Raistlin almost garauntees it's success.

again hope and pray that transformers does well then there a chance we'll get all the 80's toons, D&D, he-man, thundercats

Even if transformers does well that doesn't gurantee success for the other popular 80s tv shows. What may happen is, we'll be lumbered with all these retro adaptations of classic shows that'll get ****ed out and butchered in the process.

Well i think shows like G-I Joe and He-Man could be the ones that could have there own movie. I would think Tansformers would be the more pricey cartoon adaptation. I would love to see Venger and Dungeon Master in a live movie version. I know not what the creators of the original live action movie were smoken. Who knows maybe Venger could be cgi and Peter Cullen could do the voice.

When I was a kid I loved the Dragonlance books, I read all the core books and secondary books up to War of Souls Triloy, haven't read anything after that. I loved the two books about Raistlin Majere and Cameron growing up and being mercinaries that was really cool stuff.

DragonLance was real good IMO. I read the 'Dragons of Twilight' series, the 'Twins' series, and 1/2 a book of the 'Meetings' series(although I have all three.) I also have the 'Second Generation' hard cover unread.

The boxed game was nice to look at but I never played. I think I have it packed away somewhere.

The metal figures brought me some joy as well, painting them and stuff that is. It still angers me to think about what happened to them. :cmad:

The director of the original was a D&D geek who used to play the game. Which is why he did the movie. Just glad I never had him as a DM.

I think no matter how crappy the story is Transformers is gonna be huge and we will start seeing an influx of these cartoon movies, that's what always seems to happen. While I wouldn't mind seeing some of them, not sure about D&D.

Personally if they ever redo D&D as movies I would prefer to see them base them off some of the books than the cartoon. Just not sure I like the idea of the little DM dude hanging around. Maybe have the same concept, modern people thrown into that world but without the DM as a guide.

Chris Columbus should not be allowed near anymore fantasy themed franchises.

The possibilies for a G.I. Joe movie franchise are so vast that it is sickening.

I guess since Wonder Woman is going to be ruined by Joss Whedon and Green lantern by Jack Black I will just have to except this.:csad:

Too bad it's animated.

If it's animated well then I will be more than pleased!

whats the skinny on thia animated dragonlance?

Ou very own Jack Baurer is going to be Raistlin...the actress who plays Xena (i'm bad with names, ok???) plays....hmm I believe Goldmoon. Correct me if i'm wrong.
no idea what the final art will be like yet.

og course that possible, but look at comic book movie, due to blade and x-men many studios noticed they were cash cows, and yes we got a few duds, but look at the good big movies that have come from it.

once(if) transformers does well studioswill start to snap up any 80's toon they can, and yes the less known ones many become duds, but a few of the bigger names wont be slap together movies

I don't know they already tried doing 80s cartoons as movies. Inspector gadget, masters of the universe. Now I like the he-man movie but really they were both pretty bad if you think about it. Now Transforemers will it be bad so far from what I've seen yes, yes it will be.

Lucy Lawless is Goldmoon.

I had started a thread on here about the D&D movies, and in it I had suggested a live action movie adaptation of the animated series. This is my dream cast of who should play each character. Some of them might be too old for the roles now though, but at the time that the photos were taken they would've been perfect.

HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN AS HANK THE RANGER

I didn't hate him as much as other people did in Attack Of The Clowns and Revenge Of The S#!t. I just thought the movies could've been better produced, written, and directed. IMHO, HC did a better job in the role than the kid who played Anikin in The Franchise Menace.

LINDSAY LOHAN AS SHEILA THE ROGUE

She's hot, she has red hair, she has freckles, and when she's on her A-Game she's a damn good actress. She's just made some poor professional and personal choices as of late. But if she can stay out of trouble (and rehab) she could knock this role out of the park.

TATIANA ALI AS DIANA THE AMAZON

Haven't seen her do anything since Fresh Prince Of Bel Air ended, but she was really good as Ashley on that show and she TOTALLY looks the part. And she's still young enough to play a teenager in movies.

TAD HILGENBRINCK AS ERIC THE PALADIN

Eric_200x200.png

I totally see a live action movie version of Eric being essentially Stiffler from the American Pie movies. And who better to take on the role than the guy who played Stiffler's little brother in American Pie Presents: Band Camp?

JONATHAN LIPNICKI AS PRESTO THE WIZARD

presto.jpg

He totally stole the show in Jerry Maguire, is about the right age (maybe a little older, but he was perfect in that photo), and has the perfect look to play Presto.

As I can only upload 10 pictures per post, I had to do this in two installments.

RICHARD SANDRAK AS BOBBY THE BARBARIAN
Hercules%203.jpg
Bobby01c.jpg

Too old to play the role anymore (I think he's 18 now, and used to date Selina Gomez from Wizards Of Waverly Place), but back when that picture was taken (I believe he was 10 or 11 at the time) he would've been the perfect Bobby.

VERNE TROYER AS DUNGEON MASTER
verne-troyer.jpg
dungeon-master.jpg

He's 3' tall, bald, and funny as hell. Need I say more?

MICHAEL IRONSIDE AS VENGER

Probably the best villain actor to ever grace the movie screen. He might not be an A-Lister, but he always brings his A-Game.
