The Dark Knight Things that make you want to watch it over again

Welcome to the pretty world of blu-ray on HD. The Dark Knight is truly droolicious on it.

I don't know how to explain this, but the further away you sit from the television, the "faster" the characters seem to move. It's as if everything is moving at a slightly faster rate. It's almost like a home movie with Hollywood-quality picture. Does that make sense?

But yeah. Consider me 100% on board with Blu-Ray.

I just recently rewatched it. It's been almost a year and I popped it in on a whim. It's still a wonderful, wonderful film. The Joker is just mind blowing. And Two-Face it fantastic as well. I still hate Bale's Batvoice though

Honestly, I view The Dark Knight as one of the most rewatchable films of all time, and it isn't even one of my top favorite movies! I just don't know what it is that compels me to wtahc this film so much...Christopher Nolan has made one heck of a film.

Yeah, but in fairness the internet isn't the best medium for sarcasm.

But with no sarcasm, that's my answer, and the obvious one: The Joker. I'll watch the movie all the way through somewhat frequently, but I'll often just pop it in to watch a few select Joker scenes.

It's funny...I'll occasionally get in the mood to watch it and then say to myself, I'll watch till the mob meeting, or the montage of the Loeb/Surrillo/Dent Party scenes, or then I'll watch up to the Chase, to the Interrogation, then past the Hospital Explosion, usually up to the ferry scenes. So basically I've sat through most of the movie! The sonar sequence is the only part of the movie I'm not crazy about, but then the final showdown between Gordon/TF/Batman is terrific! Nolan crafted such an entertaining and riveting movie, it's hard not getting caught up in it every time! Very few movies I own I can say have that same replay value...

The thing that always brings me back to TDK is the score.
Whenever I listen to the cd, I'm inevitably putting the blu-ray in shortly after.

The ferry and hostage scene in the end are still unnerving as hell, and the final montage still works as a satisfying release valve for all that pressure in the film.

After re-watching it last night (on pretty Blu-Ray), I couldn't agree more. Far more emotional impact in this movie than any live action Batman movie yet. That final scene alone with Two Face, Gordon, and Batman is just epic.

OMG This movie owns!!!! I re-watched it again, what genius!!! I can't praise TDK enough!!! My only gripe with Batman was that they will end the franchise after TDK Rises. How totally awesome and pwnareffic would a Justice League film look through Nolan's eyes? The realism and special effects could usher in a new era of film making that could bring back memories of when I watched Star Wars for the very first time. DC why couldn't you have given Nolan the Green Lantern film?

I never watch just one scene alone, I just like the whole experience. What makes me want to rewatch TDK? Well, whenever I rewatch Begins I watch TDK shortly after.

I'd rather think it's not just quality (how can you get that by just copying Nolan anyways?) but the level of seriousness. I mean, you have a character, then let's truly explore him, let's see why he does what he does. As you know I didn't think much of Batman Begins, but I always could see the idea behind it and that alone made it worthy for me.

Exactly, my point, if you examine TDK it's a thriller, not a tongue in cheek concept that exists to make fun of itself. It was a "real" take on fantasy. Exactly what the first 3 Star Wars films gave us before Lucas went into a CGI frenzy. TDK is film making at it's best, and should be the standard format all comics should follow. Take Flash for example, I could see the Nolan format working for his film, the first couple of scenes can be comedy, but slowly gradually inching towards seriousness.

What I loved about the first 3 Star Wars was everything tried very hard to look real, the Death Star gave you a feeling you were there, all of these concepts are missing with the new 3 Lucas films. I'm just saying that someone with the right vision could integrate Nolan's level of seriousness with fantasy and it would look crazy effin cool!
