I almost choked on my gumbo, oh my godddddddd.

Was just coming here to post it. I knew you and BigThor would be very happy with the news.

Yes indeed I've been in bed ill all day and this definitely brightened up my day.

I remember when he showed up in Wakanda and jumps into the air I was thinking "Ohhhhh hell ya here we go!!!!!" Then the Russo's quickly cut away from him after he smacks Stormbreak on the ground. Like seriously?

also that TERRIBLE Black Widow reaction shot

What the hell was she reacting too because it certainly wasn't a friend coming to the rescue

Same here, I was like wow what a way to ruin the moment I was hoping for a Bifrost bridge style action scene to follow.

It was called AVENGERS INFINITY WAR not Thor Kicks Everyone's Ass.

I'm sorry, I love Thor. But... It was a film with a HUGE cast other than just Hemsworth's Thor. He actually got A LOT of focus and a great entrance and moment with the big bad. I mean... What more do ya'll want?

Definitely, I could see him playing Thor for another 10yrs. He was 26 in 2010 when he first played Thor.

Yeah, he’s still young. I want him to look older when it comes time to play King Thor (if Marvel plan to go there and if Hemsworth plans to hang around that long). I mentioned before many times during Phase 1 that I wanted to see both Cap and Thor as aging veterans and the journey from their fresh-faced origin films.

This is the 2nd time you've said this and it's just as extreme of an overreaction as it was the first time.

A two minute one on one fight scene wouldn't have made it any less of an Avengers film. Iron Man, Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Doctor Strange all had one on one fight scenes. From what I understand the movie isn't called "Iron Man, Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Doctor Strange Kicks Everyone's Ass".

In the future, I'd like Thor to lose that fake eye. He looked much more badass with the eyepatch.

That would mean no more double lightning eyes though.

I know I'm in the deep minority, but for me Ragnarok was one of the worst MCU movies. I personally found the humor not only sophomoric but also incongruous with the overall story.
IMHO, it cheapens the character when he loses his father, his hammer, and is about to lose his homeworld, yet somehow he is in the mood to crack jokes about Hulk's dick.

Don't get me wrong, some of the humor was really hilarious, especially whatever had to do with Korg, Miek, and Loki. But the rest was just garbage.

It's not like MCU is gonna reach some amazing dramatic heights like Logan did, it just won't. So it may as well go full comedy instead especially since it does it so well

It’s not going to have the drama of a smaller personal film but it can have Star Wars OT level drama IMO. The audience cares about the characters and their fates, and the characters themselves have bonds between themselves built up over a long time that can contribute.

I would love to see an older Hemsworth gradually turn into King Thor.

You mean in terms of physical appearance? I only say this because he already became king at the end of Ragnarok.

I disagree with that. Just the last act of Civil War is as dramatic as anything in Logan, Dark Knight, or any other comic book movie.

Hmm. You can still have serious storytelling in a superhero film without it being niche à la Logan or the TDK trilogy. As far as the MCU goes, I'd say that a number of films including Winter Soldier, Civil War, Black Panther, Infinity War and Captain Marvel accomplish this; they just balance it with levity or what some consider cheese. The only entries I'd classify as full-on comedies are the Guardians films and the aforementioned Ragnarok.

For the most part I think the comedy works.

Just as something is getting too corny or pretentious... they undercut it with comedy.

And that's fine. It happens in real life all the time. Go ask a soldier how they coped with the **** out there. Never heard someone try to ighten the mood at a funeral?

Humour is probably the most natural human reaction of all. Even in bad moments.

Yes. As in Old King Thor. :cwink:
But old king Thor will have to be set thousands of years in the future since Asgardians are basically immortal. If they could pull that off I would love that.

Just because a movie looks gritty and throws in a bunch of foul words doesn’t mean it’s deep or thoughtful or even good or interesting. I tuned out in mid point barely dragged myself through its pretense of what it wants to be but it is not. Thank god the Oscar voters had their senses in place to overlook it too.

I remember a quote from Feige that things will be very different after Endgame and many more kinds of films will be possible - and I believe the conversation was leaning towards time (ie past and future) and parallel universes. I really want them to keep hold of Hemsworth as there could be great opportunities down the road.

Kind of arguing against a position that was never taken.

Point is - they didn't give us the battle vs. Thanos and the Black Order, basically skipped over it entirely. Then once he finally shows up they quickly cut away from him. I couldn't understand it from a directorial perspective especially given all the cool things they could've done with him, the weather, and the Outriders.

It was an opportunity to give us another memorable MCU scene like his moment vs. the Einherjar on the Rainbrow Bridge, but they missed the mark IMO. He's a powerhouse of the freakin' MCU! It's my hope that this kind of stuff gets resolved in Endgame.

As someone who absolutely loves Ragnarok - I do see your point. It's not wrong to have wanted more emotional weight given what transpired. But I do think you marginalize the moments Thor did have, especially when Odin passed away in Norway.

You have to remember he was thrust into craziness once Hela arrived and kicked him out of the BiFrost. At that point he was just trying to survive. Allowing Hemsworth to play around with his natural comedic timing and charisma finally breathed some life into a character that personality-wise nearly hit a dead end in The Dark World, which was a movie that suffered from having too many scribes.

The final act of Civil War would like to have a word with you.

As my parents would always say, "You can't please everybody."
