I liked the movie; but I know that some people were not too fond of it. Some of those people are probably on this board.

To those who disliked Begins:

Why did you not enjoy it?

yes my good sir the movie was that good...... :D

Because there were no Bat nipples or neons.

Too Hollywood:-)confused:)
The Batmobile looks weird, lolol
His voice sounds weird
The camera was kinda shaky sometimes
A few lines of dialogue were lame

...Yeah, I don't get it either.

I liked Begins, but I don't think it was the greatest comic book movie ever, like some people do.

For one, it was a little slow in the beginning, bordering on glacial. I thought the Bat-suit should've been more streamlined.

I thought it was a little ironic that Bruce didn't want to take a life, but when he caused a fire that killed at least several people.

I didn't care for Begins take on the death of Bruce Wayne's parents. It just didn't flow right for me. Tim Burton got it better, even if Nolan's depiction fits more with the comic.

Rachel Dawes was a waste of space. Should've made her Rachel Caspian-daughter of the Reaper as a nod to Batman: Year Two, or Talia al Ghul.

Overall I liked the darker tone. But last summer I enjoyed Fantastic Four more. It whizzed alone, while Batman Begins moped a little.

You're like the only person who didn't like the first half. the general consensus is that the first half is what makes the movie and it's twice as good as the second half. Different strokes I guess.

Huh? Fantastic Four was like a big loud cartoon, entertaining to watch but not worth repeated viewings, except to watch Jessica Alba.

Batman Begins is like the comic books come to life and with better acting and storyline.

This thread is a magnet for Burtonites.

He burned down the temple to stop the evil terrorist organization from destroying an entire city. It was about more than just saving that one guy after he learned Ra's al Ghul wanted to take out Gotham.

That's justice?

I had some problems with the film too and it's just going to lead to flames to say what they are so why bother?

All dissent has been suppressed pretty heavily of late by flamers all over the place. it's just too much trouble to speak freely anymore.

Farenheit 451 couldn't have been more right about us. It's probably film studio employees posting on forums nowadays.

Honestly, after visiting the other boards here, that's sorta actually enjoyable.

You go into the Superman boards and say you like SR, you get called an idiot. You go into the Spider-Man comics boards and say you like JMS, you get called an idiot. The BB boards are - at least - one place where some positivity still remains. Not that it's right to try to snuff out someone's opinion, mind you.

There's a whole thread dedicated to liking Superman Returns so i don't know how you can get called an idiot in there.

and it's not right but I've lost hope that there will ever come a time when everyone's voice is valued equally. Some common respect and all that.

And this is a thread dedicated to dising BB, yet you assume you'll get flamed in it.

Yeah, that's uh, what they call life nowadays. :o

Honestly, I assume so because this thread's not nearly as moderated as the ones in the returns forum. Based on reading the begins boards I figure this place isn't as flame proof as the one in returns. Flame someone in the like thread and c.lee will slam you, but flame someone here and I don't know... i could try posting my criticisms but I just don't feel like taking the risk right now.

And about the last part, Why do you say that about life nowadays?

Let's see.

The action scenes very VERY bad and badly filmed (it's clearly Nolan's weakness). There was the promise of a better suit for action and moves : nope.
Most of the action relied on the Tumbler, which was pretty stupid (jumping off roof tops, yeah suuure).

The plot was bad (aside of adding some responsibility from Bruce's side in the death of his parents - thank you Spider-Man) and overcrowded with villain (so little time for the best of them all Cillian Murphy/Scarecrow).

Katie Holmes' character-I-only-exist-as-the-love-interest.

Christian Bale played Wayne too much like Patrick Bateman.

The film has some qualities as well of course, but here's the answer to the original question as to why some don't like the film.

To me the film is barely ok nothing more, on par with Punisher, for example...

Good luck I hope you're wearing a thermal suit.

I still have the one I picked up in a Bomberman game ! ;)

But you know, it's just answering honestly a question, debating and flaming won't change the opinion of those who loved it or mine. :)

I liked BB. For the most part is awesome and put some great standards for new superhero movies to come. Even so, I have like 3 big problems.

- The edition. That eventually doesn't ruin just the action but the finale. First time I saw BB I was just tired of it and the explosions. Felt like BB started magnificent and ended as an average action flick with bad edition.
- Katie Holmes. Amongst such acting monsters as Freeman, Caine and Bale, Holmes ends being the black spot.
- Scarecrow. Muprhy wasn't scary or interesting. He barely ilustrated what's "being scary", like opening your eyes, talking low and affeminate and stretching words: theeeee bbbaaaaattttttmmmmaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnn. Not to mention the way he's defeated by a girl with a common self-defense device and ends screaming like a school girl.

Other than that BB deserves positive comments.

Jeez, quit overreacting. If you post a negative comment, the most that can happen on this forum is someone addressing any unwarranted criticism not flaming the poster for criticizing the film. There have been lots of discussion on the topic that have gone by without turning ugly. It's only when either side becomes too defensive about their opinion is when it starts getting rough, and frankly, that happens on every forum.

You are not alone.yeah those seem to be the most popular answers.Sounds like pretty queer reasons to me. Except for the batmobile one.i agree on that one.

Uh dude. There is no evidence that Batman killed anybody in that lodge. Its not like in batman 89 when he busted into the jokers hideout and obviously killed several goons of the jokers dropping a bomb in front of them.Come on,when he first lit the lodge and made it catch on fire, everybody was running to get out.Bruce was the last one to get out because he stopped to help get his mentor out.He got out so obviously everybody else had to as well.:down You liked Burtons take better on the death of Bruce waynes parents than Nolans? your definetely one of those burtonites phaseer mentioned. Burtons take was not loyal to the comic at all.

I dont think it is the greatest comicbook movie either by the way.Superman still holds that honor for me.But its better than most though.

Not really overreacting. I've witnessed and been harrassed/flamed (even recently) for disagreeing on some silly issue. It's usually not about debating, just combative posters wanting to have some insane fun by being ***** online. There really are flamers just lurking about and ready to pounce on people for the slightest dissent. Maybe you've never met them, but there are. And they're insane. It's just too much of a pain to deal with that. I've been to friendlier forums that don't resort to belligerant behavior such as that in any form of discussion. It's never necessary.
