"Thrasher"

'Thrasher' has cetainly got potential and yes, I think he's ripe for a reboot.
Not a big fan of his current costume though - always preffered the costume Bagley drew in issue #1 of New Warriors.
I also think he could do with some sort of name change is i've never been to keen on 'Night Thrasher' (I used to do plenty of 'night-thrashing' around when I turned 12 - and it had nothing to do with putting on a costume and fighting criminals, I can assure you!! Lets just say my Optimus Prime was no longer my favourite toy.)

Would love to see them go in a different direction from the tons of non-powered vigilantes out there - although I cant imagine what direction (but then again - I'm not a comic book writer!!)

how about using him as a professional body guard for the president or something? Or he would look like the every day average vigilante but he is really an agent of SHIELD sent to become a mole in the New York superhero community?

i really like that one. Dwayne has all of the skills (natural and through training) necessary to be a S.H.I.E.L.D agent; plus his 'mutant' psi shield. maybe they'd be able to hook him up with a cooler costume.

he's a character who could go in many different directions if they'd just stop treating him as a poor man's batman. and, for the life of me, i'm not sure why they keep saddling him with foster children. all they really do is keep him from being mobile. and Microbe has to be one of the lamest characters to come down the pipe in recent memory.

Microbe is so pathetic as to be lovable because I really feel for the guy,....

What's the deal on the psi sheild? He's a mutant now? I didn't read the latest series so this is news to me...

it's unclear. there are definately a few web sources that list his psi screen as a mutant ability. it hasn't been stated as such in the comic and there could be a couple reasons why telepaths can't read his mind (strong will, mystical ability, etc). at any rate, Emma Frost nearly gave herself a stroke when she tried to read Taylor's mind once. hope that helps.

That's the only costume that hadn't been shown up 'til now, right?:D
I can't say I'm one for vigilante comic books, but I'd definitely like Thrash to come back (no, I don't count the current "animated" version), preferably in a New Warriors comic that did justice to the original team. In regards to his mental resistance, I see it as a side-effect of Tai messing with his mind and his own strong will. So it might be a strong will bolstered with mystical tampering.

Well,.. the "animated" is better than "None"
So I can't complain.

i like that costume for some reason. anyways, the psi-shield might be mental tampering but that weird geneticist lady said there was something weird about Dwayne's genetic structure as well. it was a subplot that was never followed up on. she made it sound like he has powers naturally that he hasn't used.

"(NW#64)-Psionex make short work of Eugenix while Genecide tries to flee, taking Firestar's doctor as a hostage when Firestar and Night Thrasher follow her. Meanwhile, the New Warriors, alerted by Firestar, arrive and attack Psionex, assuming their old sparring partners are the aggressors. Genecide holds Night Thrasher and Firestar at bay while she explains her actions, but Night Thrasher shoots her in the neck with his machine pistol, and a stray shot hits the doctor in the shoulder. Genecide heals her injured neck, and tells Thrash that perhaps he isn't as advanced as his DNA, which makes him uncomfortable."

Whatever happened to the scar on his face?

it's more of a decal than a scar. as for what happened to it, beats me. he's wearing a full body mask now.

No, I mean the scar that Midnight's Fire gave to him in the early issues of the first New Warriors series. It seems to be gone in that picture...

i wouldnt love to see unused characters in the mu be used again. as long as thrasher doesnt follow the batman formula/. i rather see the night thrasher in this years mini, then the old. i also like the costume!

Of course in Pure Marvel Tradition,...

Somehow Night Thrasher has "Lost" his Millions in what appears to be an idiot deal with a media company,...

Annoyed at Marvel sticking to the stereotype leaves me almost speechless on this topic.

Ive heard of Night Thrasher before,he seems to be an interesting character.

He was,... Until Marvel ruined him thru lack of interest ON THEIR PART.

You misinterpret me (thought to be fair thats probably my fault).

I'm not saying that good, brilliant, great or even genre defining stories cannot be written for the character. All i'm saying is that his most defining traits are a batman rip off and thats what has probably relegated him to fourth stringer status. Practically every post mentions his on the surface similarity to batman.

So I put it to you why bother?

If the general public looks at him and says "batman rip off" (as they apprently have) why not use whomever can create those brilliant stories on a truly original character and not one that is a a grab bag from many other characters.

To restate EVERY character has untapped potential, they are only as good as their writers, what makes him merit the attention over say......(this is completely at random) ...taskmaster????

it's true when was the last time we actually had new great characters hit in a big way?

A better question is, why make new characters when there are plenty of perfectly good, un-used characters that are one revamp away from greatness. I mean, look what Bendis did with Sentry? He's more popular now than he's ever been.

this is true also now i'm conflicted:(

LOL
the bottom line remains that Marvel dropped the ball with Night Thrasher.

I rather like the shield agent thing that could work.

Hey but this might be a moot point cause didn't thrasher die in the civil war thing?
