Last month, it was announced that Shadow of the Tomb Raider would receive seven new DLC stories, and next week the first of the seven—The Forge—will officially launch and introduce several new modes to the game.

One of these new additions include the highly anticipated co-op mode, which, as the name suggests, will allow two players to work together as they explore new tombs and face new challenges.

Now, ahead of the DLC's release, the developers have shared a new featurette that promotes the upcoming game mode and highlights some of the new gameplay mechanics.

As explained in the video, the developers put a lot of work into level design, as the levels needed to work in both solo and co-op mode. The footage also makes it clear that certain challenges or puzzles will require each player to take up different roles in order to move forward.

Check out the featurette, which includes some exciting gameplay, below:

The Forge was only the first of seven monthly Shadow of the Tomb Raider DLC, with six more to come. In December, players will channel their inner Lara Croft to venture into the game’s newest challenge tomb known as Path of Huracan to discover the truth behind the legend of the Maya apocalypse. The Pillar expansion is now available through the Shadow Season Pass, but you can buy it separately.

To reclaim an ancient treasure, Lara Croft must defy the treacherous storms of an all-new challenge tomb, all while fighting the forces of Trinity, a mysterious and fanatical militant organization that sought control over the world in the complex Tomb Raider universe. The Pillar also offers some smaller updates and additions, including new customization options with the Tunic of the Shorn One outfit, which reduces damage from projectile weapons and allows additional ammo to be crafted.

In The Pillar, Lara Croft can now equip The Oathtaker’s bow to deal greater damage to heavily armored enemies, as the new A Thousand Eyes skill allows Lara to use her deadly Survival Instincts when moving through tree canopies or concealment walls. Be sure to take a look at the latest Shadow of the Tomb Raider expansion and try to solve yet another ancient mystery with Ms. Croft down below:

Experience Lara Croft’s defining moment as she becomes the Tomb Raider. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hour. The Forge
and The Pillar were only two of the seven monthly Shadow of the Tomb Raider DLC, with five more to come. The good news is that you won't have to wait for the third expansion any longer, as this all-new content drop, titled The Nightmare, is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

In The Nightmare, players channel their inner Lara Croft to venture into the game’s newest challenge – facing off against familiar enemies and fallen friend. In this new DLC, you can explore Croft Manor in a harrowing trial unlike anything she has faced before. The Nightmare also offers new customization options with the Scales of Q outfit, whose thick hide and solid bones provide twice as much resistance to melee attacks. With the inclusion of the unique and fresh White Breath skill, Lara can now use it to create a cloud of hallucinogenic vapor on impact, poisoning her enemies to fight against one another.

The Nightmare is available for the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X, the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC/Steam and you get it for free if you purchased the game's Second Pass. Take a look:

The fifth major Shadow of the Tomb Raider DLC is available now worldwide on Xbox One, PS4, and PC (Steam) for free with the game's Season Pass (that will grant you access to all seven SOTTR expansions for $29.99) or as a standalone for $4.99. Titled The Serpent’s Heart, the DLC sees Lara Croft infiltrating an enemy fortress to stage a daring prison break and engage in a battle against evil Kukulkan cultists.

Still playing through Rise so not got to this yet, but is this franchise essentially over now? Would be a real shame if so.

No, SE said they wanna continue to support it.
Shadow is the final of their Origins trilogy, i assume the next games will be standalone games that have a more confident Lara in it now that they have told her origins story.

Can we end the piranhas??? They are ruining my progress in Deadly Obsession. :argh:

That's a good thing.

But I do hope they keep Camilla as Lara though, she does a beautiful job. I would be so bummed if she didn't stay.

Earlier this month, Square Enix launched The Serpent's Heart, the fifth major DLC for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and now they have followed this up by officially releasing the documentary The Making of a Tomb Raider online.

This special documentary, which originally aired in select theaters as a special fan event, sees professional stuntwoman, base jumper and model Clair Marie step into Lara Croft's shoes as she attempts to recreate some of the iconic character's most daring stunts.

The Tomb Raider franchise was created in 1996, but in 2013 the video game franchise was rebooted by Square Enix, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that the documentary only focuses on action sequences from their three games: Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Check out the incredible documentary below.

The new Shadow of the Tomb Raider DLC, The Grand Caiman, is out now, giving you a chance to battle mercenaries and face a Maya god 's wrath before his vengeance rains destruction across the world.

The Grand Caiman is technically the sixth story DLC for last year's Tomb Raider, and as always, it's free with the game's Season Pass (that will grant you access to all seven SOTTR expansions for $29.99) or as a standalone purchase for $4.99. Considering that there's only one DLC left, there's a chance that Square Enix will stop supporting Eidos Montreal's project after the launch of the April expansion.

Those who successfully complete the challenge will be rewarded with the Reptile Hide outfit, which heightens resistance against projectiles and boosts XP gained from assault kills. That's obviously not all, as The Grand Caiman also includes the Whispering Scourge, a suppressed shotgun, and the Volcano skill that enables crafting incendiary shotgun ammo, which sets flammable objects and enemies ablaze.

Be sure to take a look at the Shadow of the Tomb Raider - The Grand Caiman gameplay trailer below:

Eidos Montréal Is "Super Happy" With How SHADOW OF THE TOMB RAIDER Turned Out
While Shadow of the Tomb Raider didn't manage to live up to Square Enix's initial sales expectations, Producer Jonathan Dahan is "super happy with how it turned out, both on the critics side and performance."Read more

Shadow of the Tomb Raider
launched in September, largely overshadowed by other major releases that would hit stores last fall, including Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Call of Duty: Black Ops IV, and Red Dead Redemption 2. The fact that you could buy Eidos Montreal’s title for half price two weeks after its debut would suggest that the game was a failure – but it's not the case, at least according to Producer Jonathan Dahan, who had a chance to share his point of view on that matter at PAX East 2019.

"We're super happy with how [Shadow of the Tomb Raider] turned out, both on the critics side and performance," Dahan said in an interview with USgamer. "That's why we continued producing DLC, because we're excited about how it went." When it comes to the post-launch DLC, players can download six SOTTR expansions right now, with one more set to come at some point this month.

"We've had to learn to work with multiple studios, and we've come to have a very good relationship with Crystal Dynamics," Dahan added. "Hopefully that's something we're going to continue doing because it brings a very nice feel to the games to have people with different experiences and backgrounds working on the game." Considering that Crystal Dynamics, the makers of the series' acclaimed reboot and Rise of the Tomb Raider, are working on The Avengers game, it’s rather safe to say that Eidos will have another shot at making new entries in the long-running Tomb Raider series.

As a reminder, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is currently available on the Xbox Game Pass. Check it out:

I hadn't heard much hype around that game. Not nearly as much as the first two. I wanna say there was more talk on the film.

It's a pretty great game. I think it took the best parts of the first two games, and produced something worth your time. Not perfect, but really, really good imo.

I love how positive they are about the game, it makes me feel good to know the developers put their hearts into it and are happy with the results.

I just hope it means that there is another one coming.
Same. I'd be happy for another one real soon too.

And I kinda hope what they would do is make another trilogy off of the survivor timeline, but it'll be her next adventures after SOTTR.
