You really should if you get the chance.
First chance I get. Can't wait to see Nicholson in anything!

Everyone who hasn't, should definitely check out The Proposition.

I saw the prestige the other day, pretty good movie, quite a bit better than a lot fo the movies released this year, but then again, movies this year: Aeon flux, ultra violet, and I don't even wanna carry on:(.

I liked the prestige, but it's not as fantastic as I was led to believe, it's very pretentious, the whole strength is in the narrative, which is great, but it let's itself down on a few points,

I did my usual full review on my blog for the prestige if anyone cares.

I'm intereted in your opinion on this, however....

I understand your point of view but I do not agree with it. Costello was showy yes. But he was pretty ****ing scary aswell. He could kill you without blinking. (He shot two women and cracked a joke about it). He was funny in some scenes but he was an absolute madman. It's clear that no one is safe when Costello is around. He doesn't care for any human life but his own.. He could do anything he wanted (the tagline ''unrestrained that was on the Nicholson poster was spot-on) Such a character is intimidating.

Silent Hill comes in a close third.

reviewing my list...

The Prestige
Pan's Labyrinth
The Departed
Casino Royale
The Fountain
Brick
Art School Confidential
Hollywoodland
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Snakes On A Plane

1. Superman Returns-By Far the best movie of the year Nothing Tops SR

I"ll add more soon

A restructuring to my list:

Match Point(released this yr in UK)
The Proposition(Say no more)
Pan's Labyrinth (Fantastic, makes a change to the epic fantasy of late, and Sergi Lopez is amazing as captain vidal, it didn't live upto expectations, but blew away almost all other films this year)
The Black Dahlia(The first third of this film was sublime, however halfway through, the film deteriorates rapidly, but for the first third of the film, it's amazing)
V for vendetta(good film, loses something on later watchings but still very good indeed.
The Prestige(The wriyting in terms of narrative etc was prob the best of the year, I just think it's a shame it was poorly executed, not a great film, but compared to most of the years stuff)

A sidenote: I have not seen tideland yet, although I want to REALLY bad, but it's on DVD in Jan over here. and the fountain is out next month in England, and that looks to be better than all those in the list(except match point).

Taking note that i never got to see The Departed

MI-III(Action packed thrill ride and the best of the series IMO)
Brick(quirky and hard to access but very enjoyable modern noir)
V for Vendetta(Thoughtful and visually stunning with 2 great lead performances)
Maimi Vice(Intriguing cop thriller with a subtle central romance and a cool shootout)
The Prestige(all round excellent movie)
Casino Royale(One of the best Bonds to date, feels fresh with great action and towering performance from Craig)

Also the first half of silent hill was good, but the second half was terrible and ruined it!

Figured I'd return to this thread once more to update my list:

10. Little Miss Sunshine
9. Apocolypto
8. The Prestige
7. V For Vendetta
6. Stranger Than Fiction
5. Casino Royale
4. The Departed
3. Children Of Men
2. Pan's Labyrinth
1. United 93

I'd write little summaries, but everything that I'd say has been written elsewhere in better words.

The Prestige
V for Vendetta
The Departed
Casino Royale

I wish to add Brick and of course, Renaissance to my list
