Tim Burton Developing ‘Addams Family’ Series, 'Wednesday' Starring Jenna Ortega

Sounds like it's kinda meh otherwise but I'm seeing nothing but praise for Ortega.

Sounds like Netflix wanted 8 episodes and they stretched it out. Still looking forward to the Tim Burton-directed episodes which sounds like they'll be the visually impressive ones.

I wonder if it was always meant to be an original Netflix movie.

Just got done watching the first episode. Loved it! If the rest of the show maintains this type of quality, I'll be really happy.

Not gonna lie, I was a little bored with the first episode, but then it picked up in the last half. But this show does feel like a better made, CW show.

However, Ortega is spot on as Wednesday. She's entertaining as hell.

Just finished this and yeah, this show is insanely entertaining and fun. Jenny Ortega's casting is just perfection and while I've always liked her as an actress this is easily her best role IMO.

The writing, the dialogue and the attitude is so on point when it comes to her performance as Wednesday and I hope we get more interactions with the rest of her family in future seasons.

I loved her interactions with Thing and damn is Catherine Zeta-Jones still killing it in her 50's. Seriously, I swear the older that woman gets the more gorgeous she gets.

I dont really like how Nevermore is basically normal acting people but they just have powers. Wednesday shouldn't be THAT MUCH of an outcast compared to them that it even puts her at odds with the headmistress. There's pastels!

I'm kind of surprised that since Burton directs the first 4 episodes it doesnt really have that Burton feel to it?

Wednesday is definitely the highlight of the show and feels the most Addams of all the Addams.

Considering that we're introduced to a new Addams ancestor...idk why they didnt have Christina play the ancestor instead of some normal, mousy teacher?

Halfway through, and its a good show that I am enjoying. I do think it is running into the same pacing issues that The Boys season 1 and 2 ran into, in that it didn't know how to pace its episode screen time.

And yes, Ortega is amazing in the role, but I am finding that I want to see more of the supporting cast. I love Enid, and I want to see the little bits that she implies on how she and Thing are becoming besties. See more of Eugene as a Pugsly fill in. Gotten enough that I would like some time with Bianca outside of general antagonist. Also, Yoko's name keeps getting tossed out, who the hell is she?

I will say, as someone from Michigan who loves Mackinac Island, that bit with Pilgram Land and the fudge, I felt that in my soul.

The wife and I finished the finale this morning. I loved it. Some nitpicks, but really no big notes. My wife isn’t an Addams Family fan, but she gave it a 10/10 the instant the credits rolled and demanded more. Jenna Ortega was a freaking star on this show. The prom dance sequence was absolutely enthralling.

The only thing that I don’t like is that the whole conceit of Addams Family is they are the “weird” ones in a sea of normal. Having Wednesday go to basically Hogwarts takes the fun out of it.

Just finished episode 5, definitely a bit more of what I wanted. And I do love what the new Addams cast and their dynamics

But really, the reactions I've seen really weren't overreaction. Enid is some of that hardcore coding Elon is looking for.

Yeah, she's still by far the weirdest. :hehe:
