Tim Burton Developing ‘Addams Family’ Series, 'Wednesday' Starring Jenna Ortega

Jenna Ortega carrying this show like Brady did his team. I keep watching cause of her. She is a great-great actress. I do hope she goes more indie/A24 type route in the near future. ATJ has some great competition with her in the same field.

Loved the creature design. Very unique. Tim Burton said he drew on the original Outer Limits and Weird-Ohs Cards

Watched the first episode last night and enjoyed it for the most part. The cast is great, and I’m intrigued by the plot. The only thing that kinda bugged me was the relationship between Wednesday and the rest of the Addams especially Morticia being a little contentious. I get what they’re going for with the whole teen daughter/mother thing but the Addams have always been a loving, caring, openly affectionate family who have always been there for each other. At least as far as my knowledge goes. So that felt a little weird. That and Wednesday having powers. But still, I enjoyed it. Will try to watch another episode tonight.

To be fair, we’ve never seen the Addams kids past childhood, so I understand why they’d evolve them a bit from that.

Just watched the episode with the dance scene, great stuff. Jenna Ortega, really carries this show. Also, as a Finn, I of course recognized this immediately it started playing in the previous episode:

Finished season 1.

Jenna Ortega deserves an emmy/golden globe etc. The romantic moments kinda brings this down, but it is what it is. Some moments and characters feel straight from a CW show tho, but Ortega and her adventures keep ya watching. That dance sequence alone deserves an emmy.

Finished it late last night so i might need to let it sit in my head for a while...but boy was that Fun.
Jenna Ortega carried the show for sure, but the casting in general imo was very well done.

Its always tricky to get a show like this right because characterwise we only know Wednesday when she was younger, so you gotta move the character forward but you risk kind of messing up the character as people knew it.
I felt like they did a great job at characerization, you gotta move forward even at the risk.
And i feel like they managed to hit a sweet spot there with how they did Wednesday.

Dont have a problem with the Romantic stuff, that too is part of evolving a character i think.
But it was a bit too much going into a normal teeny drama direction, on that they could have done better...which i hope in a second season they do.

Speaking of second season, they need to greenlight one ASAP...we need more of this, alone for Jenna Ortega who did a incredible job.

The rest of the Addams Cast was well done too imo, i really liked them and would love to see more of the Family in the future.

All in all a incredible good show that i really want to see more of.

I’d be interested if Tim Burton returns as he really elevated the material. Millar and Gough’s writing is kind of meh.

Liked it.
Wednesday was great, the actress did a great job.
The hand was the brain.
Kitty Wolf was a good side kick, the right amount of cutness without being annoying.
Teen drama was fine with me and I'm an old fart.

Jenna is just FANTASTIC in this she is just so damn GOOD as Wednesday, her and Christina are to me the PERFECT versions of this character. I am only on episode 3 (near the end of it) and loving it so far.

Finished this and while I enjoyed this immensely overall, there’s some stuff that I’m still a little eh on. The relationship troubles between Wednesday and her parents grew on me and apart from Pugsley who I think they made a little too meek, I liked their interpretation of the rest of the Addams family. Thing especially was great. The romantic leads were unfortunately very boring and some of the really likeable side characters were shafted a little bit in their favour. I especially wanted to see more of Enid and Bianca. The mystery itself was really fun and engaging. But I thought the finale felt a little rushed. We needed more time with the villains.
Tyler seemed less under control and more outright evil so I would’ve liked to see a little more of him post-reveal. I don’t know what else they could’ve done with Laurel but I would’ve liked to see more of Ricci post reveal too. Crackstone was fine for what he was and served his purpose.
All in all, a fun show made entirely more watchable by Jenna Ortega’s performance. She’s an icon, she’s a legend, and she is the moment.

Finished the season last night. Very entertaining. Some funny moments that come out of the blue. Thing's and Enid's friendship. :funny:

yeah that is pretty good I am partway into episode 6 god this show is SO good!

I was watching the dance on YouTube again and noticed this little detail. It passes by so quickly. Knowing Jenna choreographed this herself and added this in is just so cool. Bit of a shame they didn’t let the shot linger for just a second longer so that it was more obvious.

wow did not know it went longer than that I thought it was just the leg moves nice!

Really enjoying this so far, as I’ve just finished up Episode 7.

so, Morticia was said to have had visions/ communicated through crystal balls, suggesting she (and most likely came from a family line of...) psychic mediums

so, I can see that securing her a spot at the school (as an "outcast")

but, was it said what Gomez (and his family line) were to make him/them "outcast"

Goody Addams seems too also have visions or some psychic ability (deemed a Witch in the witch-trail days) so, if she was a psychic/mediums-ish is it like a skip a generation thing or only effects the woman of the family

or does he also have similar abilitys ?

not going to lie... didn't even realize that was, Legally Blonde, they were watching

also
him playing that movie for her, and his reaction to her face, should have been a red flag/ hint to the plot twitst
