It's funny how even after how many movies I've seen of hers, anytime I see Joan Cusack in anything all I hear in my head is:It’s great that Ricci is in the mix, but we really need a surprise hit of Joan Cusack.

Dude, you're making me want to watch that movie again right now. The first of the Raul Julia/Anjelica Huston/Christopher Lloyd movies is the more faithful "Addams" movie but Values is absolutely hysterical and one of the best comedy sequels of all time. And I hear:

Oh yeah?! SET THIS!

Apart from Cusack crushing it as Debbie and the camp stuff being iconic, I will never not crack up at Gomez's monologue here:
One time about 8 years ago a buddy of mine was dating a girl named Debbie. You already know what I said to him.Driz they don't make sequels with the same heart and caliber like they did 'Values'. It was all so over the top, but in a satisfying way. I'm sure Catherine Zeta and Guzman will bring their A-game, but following Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston is a tall order.
BTW, I have a friend that whenever we get heated about someone we act like Gary and Becky. "Don't we just hate that?! Dont we wish they just DIE!?" and then I'll be like "Oh no we dont!"
LOL

Okay yeah, this looks awesome!
The only thing I think they could have improved on was Pugsley. Between the two kids all the good stuff went to Wednesday which is understandable because Christina Ricci nailed it but Pugsley's just kinda there as a result of that. Grandma also felt like a non-character in the first movie but they improved on that in Values when they recast her with Carol Kane.It still blows my mind how good BOTH of the Addams Family films are. Just absolutely perfect casting, top to bottom and an beautiful aesthetic. It far surpassed the old show. This new show has a lot to live up to but the trailer is great.

“Well, it's, I mean, you know, it's such a fun world. And, you know, it's sort of I've always viewed myself as a kind of a natural contrarian. And so being in a world where everybody's just like thrilled to be doing the wrong thing. It's just great for me, I love it. So that is what that world represents a lot for me emotionally.”
Besides being ecstatic to return to the franchise, Ricci feels fortunate to work with a talented cast and crew. As Ricci tells us, she knows her name brings something fans are looking for, but she still feels honored with the opportunity to be part of Wednesday. In her words:
“It's Tim Burton, I was so honored to be asked by him because he is just, you know, a genius. And then also to be a part to be asked to be a part of the new version of this thing that is a huge part of my identity and my history in my life. I mean, I know they didn't do it out of the goodness of their hearts, but I was really touched by it, and I felt like it was very nice. And it's such a fun world, and my character is outrageous and fun and different than anything I've done, and it was really great. And I just had a really lovely experience on that with Jenna, who is amazing, and I think now people have a taste of her Wednesday, and it's gonna be fantastic. She is really incredible. And Gwendoline Christie, I love working with her. She's my favorite.”
I actually forgot that Lurch wasn't a mute and had lines in the original show because the first thing I think of when I think of Addams Family are the '90s movies. He was still utilized in funny moments, though.Yeah, I suppose Pugsley could have been better. And I remember Lurch being a total mute for some reason. But other than that, the movies were fantastic.
