Cleaned up Mad Hatter ;)

i wonder if his skin is that white or if it's male make-up... like a rich aristocrat from the victorian period.

Possibly... he looks like Bowie.

I'd like to see him push himself further artistically. Enough of this pseudo-Gothic film design and all the re-makes. Give us another Big Fish or Ed Wood, Burton!

if he's got another Ed Wood in him, i would gladly fork over any amount of cash for it. ****, i'd pay arclight prices

Mad Hatter is permawhite!

And the Bat fans go crazy...

How much do you wanna bet he'll be doing Wizard of Oz within ten years?

I hope he keeps doing his own stuff as well as putting his own twist on others.

i was actually just talking to my girlfriend about this last night. it wouldnt surprise me at all if he ends up doing a twisted version of wizard of oz. i would like to see what he does with it.

BUT

on the other hand..i think he needs to take a break from re-makes. do something original. like a lot of people here have said in the last couple pages.

He needs to work on original stuff.

Besides Ed Wood and Nightmare Before Christmas (which wasn't directed by him), the last movie that was completely original that he did was...Edward Scissorhands.

Was Big Fish not original?

UGH NO.

I'm not totally anti a Wizard of Oz reimagining, but I don't want to see it in his style. And he would force his style on the property. And cast Depp as the Scarecrow and Carter as the Wickid Witch, I'm sure. Plus we already had a darker Oz in Return to Oz.

If there was a re-boot, I'm going to be unoriginal and suggest Del Toro should helm it. Pan's Labyrinth was already kind of a twisted Oz story.

Correction: 2005's Corpse Bride, which he DID direct and got his first and (so far) only Oscar nomination for.

Anyone know of a good forum dedicated entirely to alice in wonderland, or tim burton movies in general?

You could start a thread in this section for Tim Burton movies.

I still haven't gotten a chance to see Pan's Labyrinth, but I LOVE the whole elf/fairy/fantasy thing he did in HBII. I could dig that.

Make-up I'm pretty sure. In the close-up picture of the hatter you can see his fingers and neck are flesh colored.

Wikipedia says the Hatter is going to be a love interest for Alice...don't really like the sound of that but I'm still curious to see how that plays out if it's true.

Disney's theme parks have always kind of pushed an Alice/Hatter relation with their face characters and in their parades, so doesn't bother me too much.
