Winona's a good actress and it's a shame that Burton won't use her just because she's Depp's ex. That was almost 20 years ago anyway.

Burton has said that Depp was always his no.1 choice to play Wonka.

As for Winona - she was offered Christina Ricci's role in Sleepy Hollow, but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts. That was the official line anyway.
