What is the problem people are having with the CGI, exactly? Wonderland isn't exactly supposed to look "real". It's supposed to be "surreal". Things should feel odd and weird and not quite right.

Yeah, I don't understand the complaints of CGI considering the quality the teaser is in. It's not bad, but it's obviously not that high of quality.

Completely agree. Just like Mirror Mask. There's something oddly creepy about real interacting with surreal.
You guys are mixing up visual style with technical realism.

Responding to Johnny Depp''s wish to portray her in a film, the legendary Carol Channing has given her approval, saying:

"It is not a new concept to me. Not at all. Men have been imitating me for as long as I can remember. In fact, most of the impersonations I have seen have had a five o'clock shadow. I imagine, when or if Johnny should portray me, he will succeed. Because a true artist, such as himself, is one who loves his or her creation and therefore represents their honest view of that which they are creating. I think he is a gifted performer and I would be very proud, as well as interested in seeing what his vision of me would be. Johnny is someone I would very much like to help me and my foundation to bring the Arts back into the the public school system in America."

I'm trying to imagine Depp as Channing... it disturbs me.

this book was written for someone like burton to take on. that trailer just made me even more excited, i may have to read the book all over again.

Like Quagmire said, if he could sleep with Johnny Depp or Richard Grieco, he'd go for Depp because he kinda looks like a chick.

meh, this looks exactly how i imagined it would. which bores me. burton hasnt developed in the least as a director or artist in the past 20 years or so.

this is damn good for a first trailer. i expected a few shots of the rabbit hole, maybe some scenery of Wonderland with some voice-overs.

i wasnt too sure i liked the look of the Mad Hatter from the pics, but now i love it. the Tweedles are way better than i expected.

the 2010 turning into the eyes of the cat is absolutely brilliant

Alice's face looked really fake when she was falling down the well. Could they not have went semi practical and had her hanging in a green room?

The motion capture usage does seem kind of random. I'm guessing those scenes are that way so the 3-D affects the character and the background.

i just have to say..lots of people seem to have many problems with tim burton. but if your a fan of his..you absolutely love everything he does pretty much. thats because he has a certain style and way of doing things. he isnt going to change. when i hear tim burton is putting out another movie..i pretty much know what to expect from it. to some people..thats not a good thing. but to me..its a great feeling. :D

i heard he was doing this film and i got so stoked. ive been waiting for a trailer to this movie for over a year now..its finally here..and it didnt disappoint.

Now we're looking for 'realism' in an Alice in Wonderland movie? :csad:
Why don't you read? :(

Technical realism as in photorealistic textures. Nothing to do with visual style, which for this film, should be surreal.

That's how I responded in the first complaint I saw about the CGI complaint. All movies use a base texture, and usually in post-production, they replace the base texture with the photorealistic textures, so it doesn't look too fake. Considering it's a teaser trailer, I won't hold unrealistic photo textures against it...unless it's in the finished product; Then I'll have the same complaint.

This trailer just once again reinforces why I hate J Depp & why I think the guys an overated weirdo. Stop doing Burton movies!!!, try branching out some more for god sake. it's like Dicaprio & Scorsesse, just freakin rediculous. Talk about actors with no range. It's easy to play characters who are far fetched & accentric, but try actually playing ppl who are salt of the earth, with weight to them then I'll maybe give the guy a break. Public Enemies didn't impress me either so don't throw that one in my face.

Steve

He's always done numerous projects, including Burton's. You didn't see him in Mars Attacks, Big Fish or Planet of the Apes did you? How about the Batman movies? So he's been in Burton's more recent popular movies. What's wrong with that?

Depp has range in his acting skills its just the weird roles he takes that get noticed more.
