Tim Burton's Dark Shadows

It totally belies the tone of the footage, though. It'd be like watching the Batman Begins trailer with Superfreak dubbed over it. :o

Eva Green was the one thing, besides the cinematography, that I really liked in the trailer. She can steal the show. I just hope the show is better than what we were shown in the trailer.

It's like part "Charlie and the Chocolate factory" and "Beetlejuice" with Burton's typical gothic look.

Knowing what's under the hood from movies like "The Dreamers" and "Camelot" She's even more hotter as a blonde.

Like I said in my first post, the visual tone of the movie is definitely different than the tv series, and if someone had a complaint with that, I could at least understand their qualms.

But what these dudes are saying about camp and comedy is ridiculous. :o

Eh. Would they rather it looked like a daytime soap opera from the 60s/70s? :o

The classic, black and white show from the 60s looked nothing like a soap opera.

Until they switched to color.

I didn't realize that Eva's role was that fun so it was such a pleasant surprise.

Just seen the trailer and... I LOVED it. :hrt:

Truthfully I have never really seen anything from the show so frankly I don't care how faithful Burton is to the material. But for me, as a stand-alone Burton experience/movie this looks pretty darn fun.

Michelle Pfeiffer was great of course, but it looks like Eva Green could steal the show with this one.

Fans complaining about the trailer is like if they made a Power Rangers movie as an intentional comedy and people started complaining because it lacked the drama, action, and oriental philosphy of the series. At that moment you'd turn into Chloe Mortez and ask if they were stoned. In fact, let me do that right now, "DACrowe, are you stoned?"

;)

No, but if you're comparing Dark Shadows to Power Rangers, you clearly are. :o

There wasn't much Michelle in the trailer. And yeah, Eva appears to be a scene stealer. I loved every bit of her scenes in the trailer. :hrt:

While I liked the trailer there's a part of me who is sadden that Burton - with all of his visuals - has never made a straight up horror movie. While some of his films have horror elements, like Sleepy Hallow or Sweeney Todd, they're not considered genuine horror flicks.

Except for the fact that, no, it isn't.
Yes, it is. You're trying to antiquate that fans of the series should prefer the latter half of the series over the first portion. Which is ridiculous.

That is a good point.

Where in the hell did you get that from? :o

Burton's never made a straight up anything. He can't just stick to one genre.

That wasn't the point of his analogy at all.

Wasn't it that complaining the trailer for Dark Shadows look like a comedy is akin to complaining about a trailer for a supposed Power Rangers movie being too campy?

That is, IMO, a terrible analogy.

Let me make an analogy that belies my disappointment with the trailer better. Saying it doesn't matter because you thought the TV show was silly/dated/cheesy/whatever is like you shouldn't complain about Spider-Man 3 having Spidey dancing to James Brown down the street and having emo hair because the '60s comics were shallow with cheesy dialogue. Who cares. Let Raimi be Raimi.

Loved the trailer even more now in HD.

This steadily climbed up to one of my most anticipated movie this year. The footage looks so great and I loved what I saw of the performances.

Like I said before Eva Green looks absolutely amazing in this. Both in looks and acting.

Eva doesn't like doing American projects, usually, because she wants to stay in Europe. That's why she took Camelot. Hopefully, this will give her a boost.
