Fantastic Four: The Herald

Don't take this the wrong way, as It's a cool freaking title, but it's WAY too Fanboy-ish. You want something the average moviegoer can understand. I doubt the movie will start with Norrin and Galactus (although it could?), so you don't want people scratching their heads trying to figure out the title. If Galactus plays an important role in film, You almost have to defer to him.

Galactus is most obviously not in 2 and will be in 3. Well probably seen at the very end of 2. Not sure in what capacity but I'm sure he'll be seen, like in the last page of Surfer's first appearance kind of thing.

The Surfer story is uber science fiction, one of the best IMO never told on film. And that title is science fiction. I hate fanboyish titles like Doomsday and stuff like that. It just generates the stereotype that comics are corny.

But whatever...thank what you think, not like they're really going to go with fan titles anyway. Fox will probably settle on FF & SS...god I hate that title...next they'll meet the smurfs!

"The Herald" is fanboy-ish? It might not be the best title in the world, but it's certainly better than "...and the Silver Surfer", IMO (unless you're going for a retro 60s crappy thing).

Neither title strikes me as very fanboyish.

But FF2 is an action adventure picture. It requires a title that implies action. "The Herald" sounds like some Merchant-Ivory snore-fest. By that mode of thinking, Spider-man 2 should have been subtitled "Requiem for a Scientist" and X-Men 3 would have been called "The Cure." (zzzzzzz)

"Doomsday" is a title that screams action. It implies not only action, but the impending end of the world. And it refers indirectly to the FF's arch nemisis.
What more could we ask for?

My money says "FF & the Silver Surfer" will remain the title for FF2, since they're using the film to introduce such a heavy-hitter character.
(Personally, I would prefer "FF vs the Silver Surfer," so it sounds more like they're dealing with an actual threat and less like they're having a picnic.)
But if FF2 ends with Galactus' arrival and Dr. Doom is involved, then "Doomsday" will surely be the title for FF3.

Well..between Doomsday and The Herald, I prefer the latter. Doomsday is too generic for my taste, but it's kinda hard to decipher at this point, since we're awaiting the expected script review. I like something that nudges toward Silver Surfer, vice Doom.

I wouldn't call the last 45 years of Fantastic Four "science fiction" at all.
It's fantasy. Even the Galactus trilogy.

Upon further reflection, I think "The Herald" would be a fine title for FF2.
As long as FF3 is the actual battle with Galactus and is called "Doomsday."
