Titans Titans General Discussion Thread - Part 1

http://deadline.com/2014/09/titans-show-dc-comics-tnt-pilot-order-833189/
Warner Bros. TV is rapidly expanding its live-action DC Comics TV universe. This season, it is going from one to four primetime series, returning Arrow and freshmen The Flash, Gotham and Constantine, and already is prepping another major broadcast franchise with Supergirl. Now the studio is expanding the DC brand to cable drama with Titans, a project that is nearing a pilot order at TNT. Titans is one of three TNT drama pilots stuck on the runaway, awaiting a formal green light as the network is undergoing a regime change. The other two are Lumen from Amblin TV and the Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay-produced Cocaine Cowboys.

Written by Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman and executive-turned-scribe Marc Haimes, Titans revolves around the eponymous group of young Super Heroes-to-be from the DC Universe. The action series centers on Dick Grayson (probably best known for his alter ego as Robin), who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new Super Heroes including Starfire, Raven and many others. Goldsman executive produces, with Haimes serving as co-executive producer for WBTV’s cable division Warner Horizon.
WB is going H.A.M. on TV.

Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment Announce All-New Live-Action Series “Titans,” from Executive Producers Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, To Debut In 2018

Series Will Air Exclusively on Upcoming DC-Branded Direct-to-Consumer Digital Service

Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment today announced that executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are teaming up for the all-new live-action drama series “Titans,” which will debut in 2018. Additionally, Warner Bros. Animation’s “Young Justice: Outsiders,” the highly anticipated third season of the popular “Young Justice” series, is also ramping up for its first mission next year.

Both fan-driven series are in early stages of production and will air exclusively on a DC-branded direct-to-consumer digital service in 2018. Operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks Group, the new digital service will deliver an immersive experience designed just for DC fans.

“Titans” follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. “Titans” is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever.

“Titans” will be written by Akiva Goldsman (“Star Trek: Discovery,” “Underground”), Geoff Johns (President & Chief Creative Officer, DC Entertainment; “The Flash,” “Arrow”) and Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl”). Goldsman, Johns, Berlanti and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl”) are executive producers of the series from Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Holy hell, is this trying too hard. “**** Batman.” I don’t even know what to say. It’s like someone parodying Snyder’s movies, but somehow making it worse, so congrats in that regard I suppose.

I'll help you with that:
This makes All Star Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder look tame in comparison.

Honestly, the "**** Batman." line is the last thing I'm worried about. Obviously Robin and Batman have some beef, and why is Robin not allowed to vent his frustration with some colorful language? But the excessive violence, Robin apparently straight up killing people, discount Raven and Beast Boy and stripper Starfire, those things I can't deal with.

How's this even possible? I thought they were planning to course correct after the BvS backlash and now we're getting Teen Titans mixed with Watchmen.

I don't think I've read any plot details. I've seen the disappointing images, but had no idea in which direction they were going to take the show.

Anyone else willing to make fun of the "You were the kid in that circus, I need you to help me" line?

This was disheartening. I see no distinguishable difference between this and what an unrestricted, "edgy", CW show would be like.

I was hoping under the streaming service we'd get mature, adult-driven content. Something to rival the phenomenal TV shows that are out right now. Guess I'm moving on to HBO's Watchmen for that wish.

This looks about as bad as I thought a Berlanti streaming show would look. Funny people bringing up Zack Snyder and forgetting who is actually behind this show.

But will we get the never repetitive opening narration?

I know. It just seems like such a dumb move to take the show in this stupid, edgelord direction, when all his others tread the line much better.

Am disappoint.

<watches trailer, makes incoherent spluttering noises> I...I...I...can’t even...I mean, what the actual ****? <stuffs tissues into ears to stop brain leakage, shakes head real fast and makes wobbledy wobbledy wobble sound> Where to st...uh...um...what... <screams repeatedly, is dragged out by men in white coats called by coworkers>

Robin looks fine. Is he Damian or Jason ?
Raven is meh. As much as it sounds creepy, she was my crush back in Teen Titans.
Beast Boy looks bad.
StarBurn :funny:. I'm out of words.

Trailer Link? is it on YouTube or are the stills from CC?

Did you not notice the obvious, literally in giant texts "Grayson's" in the trailer and the again, obvious allusions to losing his parents in the circus?

Yikes.

It's a joke. I know he's Dick by name, but not by personality as far as I can tell from the trailer

It's like watching a bad fan film aimed for DCEU edgelords.

If it was Damian, I'd have no problem with the characterisation. But it's Dick.

Edgy, dark, murdery dick.

My only issue with the trailer is the killing done by characters who should not be killing
I mean Robin okay he can be brutal at times if you are looking at a Jason Todd
Dick though no brutal fighting style with him
Dove no way should she be going for lethal takedowns that's a Hawk move
