Titans Titans General Discussion Thread - Part 1

As much as I'm enjoying Titans, I always feel that it could be better. Honestly I just want to see the team do some more superhero stuff and actually wear their superhero costumes while on missions. In the last episode it's weird that the OG Titans felt the need to be in their civilian clothes when they broke into Wintergreen's place. The new Titans like Raven, Kory and Beast Boy have been underutilized this season as the show seems more interested in the OG Titans. I do hope the show writes off Hawk and Dove as they're not really needed imo.
After this backstory is resolved the show needs some all out team costumed superhero action with everyone involved. Is Beast Boy even on the show any more? :D::csad:

We will see him again in the next episode but it's disappointing that he's been sidelined this season.

Ok good to know. Him and Raven seem to be on the bench for now. Hopefully season 3 has more time to feature everyone without the need for so many flashbacks. I need at least one scene with everyone involved (and in costume).

Thats why Im really hoping this show gets a third season. Seasons 1 and 2 seem to be one big set up and origin of this new Titans team. I’m betting by the end of this season the team will finally be a team with Dick as Nightwing leading them. But it would SUCK if thats where the show ended just as it getting to what we all wanna see.

Has the show had good viewing figures/ratings? There is so much potential here when they make it a proper team series.

Idk about ratings but the show doesnt seem to get any buzz which isnt a good sign. Its not getting the accolades that Doom Patrol for example is getting. That show has been buzzing for DC, thus why HBO Max picked it up, I imagine. But Titans, it pains me to say this but no one talks about it.

The problem with these individual streaming services is that Nielsen's not measuring them, so we don't get viewing figures unless they want us to have them. Netflix releases the numbers for their most-watched shows every now and then. If anything on DCU were getting any kind of numbers to brag about, they'd be bragging. I fear the service itself is not long for this world. Nice to know at least Doom Patrol will have life on HBO Max, though.

There was a report a couple of months ago stating that DCU as a whole was not performing to expectations. But they've picked up DP for a 2nd season and YJ for a 2nd season so they must plan on being around for at least another year. Also probably doesnt help that the entire Arrowverse is off limits to them which when you think of a DC app you think you gain access to all of their media...

Oh that’s a real shame. If Doom Patrol is doing that well then Titans could have achieved that too. If they want the DC app to succeed they need to commit fully. A show like this with a budget meaning nothing had to be restricted could be a killer attraction. Also all DC fans should get to see this version of Deathstroke - amazing for a show.

They really screwed the pooch with the first season. The whole “F Batman” thing was a huge miscalculation on their part on how the fans would respond to it (which, post BvS, idk why they went that route). The whole super edgy violent approach was a complete turn off to most people. Even someone like me who likes dark, edgy things was really disturbed seeing such a bloodthirsty Robin. And its sad because Brenton Thwaites is a GREAT Dick Grayson and he delivers the material he’s given compellingly but its not what people signed up to see.

I disagree Titan's at one point was suppose to link up or match up with the movie world so I can understand why Season one was done the way it was but in the same Season one is also done in the same way the DCCU was supposed to be where it got darker before it got better and I like that. I think both seasons have been great although I am enjoying Season 02 more than one only because of Conner. Really I would love it if they just put John's Titans there and we went from there but I also understand why they can't/wont. However the only person I want to see now is Cassie mainly because I always loved Conner and Cassie together not him and M'gann.

Preferred the episode last week to be honest, though it was good to see Conner go a little rogue, as unintentional as it may have been.

I must admit though, in addition to the secrets, I do tire of teams breaking up and then reuniting time after time.

Both Dick and Conner are now wanted by the police, and Garth can’t get ahold of Bruce. One would assume that media coverage of a kid with laser eyes causing destruction would draw in some big names, but we know that’s not going to happen, unfortunately.

I wasn't really feeling this episode. Way too much exposition. Felt weird seeing Rachel being mad at Dick since she's literally been hiding the fact she can't control her powers. Anyone else feel like Donna is being really hypocritical? She was the only one who still wanted to use Jericho to get to Slade and and then all of the sudden she blames Dick for Jericho's death. I liked Donna in season one but now she's one of my least favourite characters and she's been miserable for most of season 2.

Just tired of seeing Dick constantly feeling sorry for himself and pushing people away. It's annoying seeing the team split up again as we know in the end they will inevitably get back together. Sometime it feels like like the show is desperate for us to hate Dick and that we're supposed to think that he's a messed up person.

This episode kind of proved my point that having so many superheroes if not done right can be very hurtful to the show because everyone needs screen time most of the time but you only have a limited amount of time. So sometimes you'll get jumpy scenes that go from here to there without actually do what they were supposed to. Honestly they really should write out Hawk and Dove.

The only thing I liked was the Gar and Conner stuff. Didn't care for Kory's story regarding her sister as it went nowhere. We are 9 episodes into the season and we still haven’t seen the Titans fight like or even as team.

My brief thoughts on this episode.

The good? Radiohead's "Climbing Up the Walls" plays during the credits.
The bad? Pretty much everything else.

Gar & Connor are fantastic in this episode. Everything else was just okay or not interesting.

Definitely not as good as last weeks episode. Hopefully the next one is better!

I want to love this series, but it's hard not to admit it could be so much better than it actually is. This week's episode was rather disappointing coming off last week. And I agree it would be nice to see, oh I don't know, superheroes being superheroes.

Less team/relationship drama, more superhero business.

I really hope they find a solid direction bc I want this series to continue & succeed.

Wasn't feeling the episode.

Gar, Conner, and Krypto were the best parts.

It's really weird that they made it that Dick didn't tell the OG Titans what went down with Jericho. Up until he told Jason and the "Jericho" episode, I assumed they knew. So, it was kinda funny how they were all mad (again) and decided to leave. Oh, and I'm assuming we won't get Nightwing until the final episode since they have to stretch out the melodrama, I guess.

I still feel they should've shown Starfire actually remembering stuff about her life. With last season, she was gradually learning stuff and now she knows everything. So, it's weird watching these scenes for me.

It wasn't the most exciting episode, but hey at least it wasn't a whole bunch of flashbacks. I really did enjoy the scenes with Garth and Connor bonding, but man do I wish this show would find it's damn pacing already. For every action packed episode there's a slow one the next, and that's what's really been annoying me about this season. Structurally its kind of a mess honestly.

Yeah I think having flashbacks every other episode throws off the momentum of the present day storyline. I wish the Jericho episode was right after the Aqualad episode. Just to get those episodes out of the way.

I agree about Starfire and thought the same thing. It’s weird that she suddenly knows everything about all kinds of things we never saw or heard. Her storyline interests me the least at this point and seemed to take up valuable time that could have been spent pushing the main story forward.

Woof, this was bad. The worst Arrowverse shows write their character arcs/dynamics better than this. At least I still liked Conner and Krypto, bless them. Everyone else on this show has given me zero reasons to care.
