Titans Titans General Discussion Thread

Sounds cool I hope they put it on Netflix as the series. A love Titans will be cool. I hope Nightwing, Starfire, Beast Boy, Slade, Terra, and more are in it and guest stars like Batman, Superman, etc. Hope they have one Red X episode of 2 partner where Robin became evil undercover working with Slade to get his plans but nobody new he was the character. My favorite episode in animated series.

I hope they make it available via other means besides the digital service.

maybe there will be a free tier that lets you watch the ep a week later. I'd settle for that.

and as for the roster, based on the casting call released a few months ago, it seems the main/core roster will be Nightwing ( leader ), Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy.

also, I like how they're describing Raven's powerset in the casting press release.

she's a psychic/empath who has her empath powers plus telepath, telekineses, and astral projection. nice!!

I feel like she is a bit young tbh. I don't know why DC won't let Raven grow up nowadays.

she's younger than I expected. I figured they'd probably go for the 16-18 range.

but I guess they're going for a team with a mixture of ages.

in the Teen Titans vs Justice Leage animated film, I believe Raven was 14, so that's around the age she's in this series.

in the original animated series, she was 15 going on 16 ( when the prophecy would come true ), I think.

I'm cool with them being actual teenagers, the team drew me in as a kid because I could relate to them. Make them too old, and you may be missing out on that opportunity to connect with kids

I'd have gone older, but I guess they're not all going to be like that.

A younger, more child-aged Raven would add some nice juxtaposition with her fiend-inheritance from Trigon. A kid who should be innocent and naive, but is instead wary and matured past her childhood? A tiny, adolescent girl capable of making a Gotham vigilante seem exceptionally bright and sunny, even if it is the notoriously affable Nightwing? Sounds like gold. Plus, making her younger and threatened by her father would only increase the protective instinct people would have towards her.

Though now I want Beast Boy to be similarly aged, to further the juxtaposition by being a joyful little pest at times, and to give Raven a peer.

She's certainly younger than I was expecting, but that's not automatically a bad thing (depending on where they go with it). Dafne Keen was younger than I expected when she got cast as X-23, but that worked out brilliantly in the end.

So I'll give this a chance at least.

I agree about the potential for Raven's character. and I, too, want BB to be around Raven's age.

13 episodes in a season is so encouraging.

I wouldn't mind if the episodes were only 30 minutes as well. My main complaint about the Arrowverse and the Marvel Netflix series is all the filler that gets thrown in. I watch the Arrowverse shows on Netflix so I can skip entire scenes if I want to. There's a lot of unnecessary drama in those shows that can be skipped without affecting anything.

with only 13 eps, they'll have to tell a tighter story. And that may be difficult with a group/ensemble cast.

I wonder what the story arc for the 1st season will be.

will it revolve around Raven and Trigon?

It wasn't difficult for the animated series! ^

I'm hoping for more casting announcements this week.

I don't really care who the first season villain is as long as it's HIVE, Brother Blood, Blackfire, Trigon or Deathstroke.

Never seen her in anything but good for her. Will be interesting to see her all oranged up. Hopefully they give her a better red wig then Medusa got.

Hmm. Acting-wise, I couldn't begin to say. Looks-wise, she's not who I'd have chosen.

If they want minority representation, I don't think they're going to get as much credit by making the black actress orange. They already did that sort of thing with Gamora, and it's something I could see some people getting annoyed with. Unless she's not going to be orange at all, but that would be its own questionable decision that combined with other details could mean that they're shying away from the source material.

So, I don't know, she could turn out good, the show could be good, but all I can do is shrug at this.

So ya'll really paying for this?

I do DVD rentals, so...

I've seen people hoping that they don't paint her orange but then there is no use in using the character. Cast her as Barbara or Donna Troy or some other character.

Anything you say about this casting can and will be held against you in a court of social justice.

Well, it is what it is. Somebody is gonna ***** about her being cast, somebody is gonna ***** about them making a black girl orange, and so on and so forth.

The age thing is so bizarre. Raven looks like a little girl. Starfire looks like she is well out of college. :funny:

Well, maybe she's a kid at heart? Though is strange that we've got a 13 year old playing Raven and a 29 year old as Starfire.
