I enjoyed it, overall. My kids loved it and that's about what you should expect from this movie. Without question, the best TMNT movie to date, IMO.

Goods: Action & CGI were very good. Turtle personalities were great representations of their cartoon counter parts. Megan Fox put in her best performance (please consider her past movies). Left the movie generally satisfied (entered not expecting much).

Bads: Splinter. Shredder's everything plus the kitchen sink, predator suit (a lot less would be a lot more here). Shredder/Sachs TASM plan. Vern's character annoyed me more than succeed with his intended comic relief. I know we're watching a movie with mutated ninja rats & turtles but I didn't like how the emotional link between the turtles/splinter & April were shoehorned into the story.

You've heard this a gazillion times with Bay movies: check your brain at the door and you'll enjoy it. It's true here, but I will admit I loved it compared to the last three TF movies by a longshot. I'm looking forward to a sequel.

5.5/10

Pros: Mikey, Raph, Whoopi
Cons: $achs, Verne, Foot mercs, Shredder/Splinter, "Sammiches"

In spite of the flaws it totally disappoint or amaze either. 6.5/10

I loved it. My friends loved it. I wish it were a little more traditional with Oroku Saki and Hamato Yoshi but I'm cool with what they gave us....a new interpretation. I give it a 9.95. I hope y'all catch on

Donatello just seemed off to me; the other's, personality-wise, were spot on.

A 9.95? lol It was only .5 away from being a perfect movie for you? :p

Found this and thought it deserved a repost:

"An open letter to those involved in the production of 2014's Teenage Mutants Ninja Turtles:

Watching a movie is an act of trust on the part of the cinema-goer. Not just in the context of the money and time we surrender, but in the emotions we invest. Cinema is an direct line between creators and viewers.

So, when Michael Bay (Rotten Tomatoes average 31.6% Fresh) taps Jonathan Liebesman (30.8%) of Battle: Los Angeles fame direct a script by Applebaum and Nemec, whose only films are Mission Imposible: Ghost Protocol (93%) and Now You See Me (50%), and Dauherty, whose only films are Snow White and the Huntsman (48%) and Divergent (41%), and they place Megan Fox (37.5%) as the lead we are well within our rights to question whether we should give you our trust.

In response to our doubts, Megan Fox has told us "Let me tell you something about those people. How much money did Transformers 4 make? Exactly. Those people can complain – they all go to the theater. They're gonna love it – and if they don't love it, they can **** off, and that's the end of that."

You know what, I'll take your advice. I'll **** off. You can take everyone else's $8.50, but you're not gonna take mine. You could have challenged me to give your movie a chance, to see it and make my own judgment. But instead you used the very mature and well-reasoned argument of "f___ off".

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opens this weekend. I'll take my $8.50 and watch Guardians of the Galaxy a second time. Because it's a great movie, made by a studio that doesn't treat me like a piece of **** who has no choice but to see their movie.

Signed,

Someone who finally took your advice and gladly f___ off."

I see what you did there ;)

I think you are taking all of this alittle personally old Greg.
Her's was actually a response to what her and the interviewer called 'haters'.

I didn't write it, I think its truthful and funny :)
Seeing a movie now a days seems to be turning into what yelp did for restaurants.
Makes sense to me. Ill wait for it to be on netflix.

I think this movie was awsome and I can't wait to see it again. I think it lacked some character development.

I see. Well then that person is.
I personally don't blame fox for lashing out at her haters. It's actually been confirmed that she frequents various internet site and to think of the mass vitriol she must see hurled at her. She's pretty lucky her kids are probably too young to read it. I suppose she knew what she sighed up for, hate.

The thing about actors is that they aren't actually in politics, they don't actually owe us anything and we are free to take our business elsewhere. Like the commenter said.
No fuss no foal(but there will always be fuss).

Seems like a lot was written and edited out. With that much post work required and the tedious shooting style, and the rewrites, I can only imagine how ruthless they had to be in the editing room.

I heard the trenchcoat scene as well the as dora scene are no shows. Probably would have been more turtle character time.

I wished it was a tad longer, but since it's mainly for kids - they take that their attention span isn't as long as adults.

Well that was fun. There wasn't one human character I cared for but the Turtles and Splinter were great in every moment they were on screen. For that reason alone, I want to see a sequel.

Damn, if I would've loved to have seen Anna Kendrick as April.

Already repeated this, but whatever. .

Love the hell out of this movie. Best tmnt movie ever made to this point. Didn't like splinter's voice n thought shredder's gear was too much, but that can't out weight the good that's in this film!!

Bring on part 2

Also:
Why the f Bay n crew couldn't do TFs like this!

Favorite scene: (out of many!!!)

The whole down the snowy mountain scene

I liked Don's little snorting laugh when his trick flipping the jeep with his staff actually worked.

Regarding the success, the two times I saw this thing the theatre was packed to capacity so it's pretty safe we're getting a sequel. Lots of potential in the universe.

I have to see this again. This was the point in the movie when my daughter decided she needed to go to the bathroom.:yay:

I definitely see the potential in this universe. My hope is that they set out to make a genuinely good movie and not be swayed into countless rewrites. I have no idea if that's what happened this time, but it certainly felt like it.

They really need to delve into the mutagen's origin. Little April saying her dad told her it was from space may imply something.

Favorite scenes:

The subway attack
Raid on the Turtle lair
Shredder vs Splinter
Snow chase sequence.

Didn't really like the final battle.

Took my kid to see this because he loves the turtles. He enjoyed it, I did not. That's the story of this film and why it's doing so well. This is the kind of film, that you remember as a kid being totally awesome, and then you see it years later as an adult and realize how bad it sucks and your child hood memories are destroyed.

What bothers me most about this movie is just how creepy and disturbing the turtles look. I never thought I'd long for the days of animatronics.

Nice touch at the end extending the staff to get back on the top of the building.

Shell Shocked was catchy as hell. :o

So, just got back and I wound up liking it alot more than I thought I would. I mean, I really liked it. No, it's not as good as Guardians...but I still really liked the movie.

I'm not entirely sure if my very low expectations played a big part in that, though. I was expecting it to be as bad as the Transformers movies. I was expecting Shredder to be white washed, too, from the trailers I had seen. And I thought Fox was going to be horrible. On all counts, I was wrong. Fox was good. I think her not being hyper sexualized like she was in the first two Transformers movies went a long way for me. It's no where in the vicinity of levels of badness that any of the Transformers movies are. And...Shredder, well, I was wrong there too.

Mikey was great. It kinda felt like he was the Tony Stark/RDJ in Avengers with how he stole the show. It was pretty much funny everytime he cracked a joke. I think the retooled origin made sense for this film, while I know that's what will anger purists. But, I didn't think the changes were anything offensive (ie: aliens) and seemed to serve a purpose for the film's story. And the Turtles and Splinter felt all spot on in terms of their personalities. And, they were the focus of the movie, not the humans (which has always been one of the complaints about Transformers).

There's some stuff I did't like, Iron Man Shredder and what felt like a shorthand version of the Foot Clan. But, nothing they did in this film is a deal breaker. I think alot of the missteps can be corrected in a sequel, like re-tooling the Foot Clan.

And Will Arnett was awesome. The movie really was funny and fun to watch.
