My biggest gripe, even though the 1990 flick did the same thing with another character, is that April pulled a Sam Witwicky.

What do mean... she kept screaming other character's names?

Would anyone like to give an overview of the "new" origins for the turtles?

Spoiler tags if you like. I'm curious what exactly they changed. Really want to know how the "alien" thing tied in, ion the end, if at all. IIRC, in the original books, the ooze ended up being tied to an alien race.

Splinter and the Turtles were experimented on in a lab with the ooze which was developed by Aprils dad and Eric Sacks. Young April considered them her "pets" as she hung out in the lab alot videotaping them. When he discovered that Sacks planned to use the ooze for evil, Aprils dad set the lab on fire. He was later shot and killed by Sacks. April rescused the Turtles and Splinter and led them towards the sewer where they grew up. Splinter learned Ninjitsu from a book.

Overall, it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would...

Seen it at 7pm last night.

It's terribly dull. Not "a catastrophic disaster" like many thought it would be but not "so bad it's good" either. It's just completely forgettable.

The turtles are just ugly looking, the storyline and score is generic, the action is shaky cam nauseating and at it's core the movie is just empty.

It's also not funny. Unless constantly reminding you how ridiculous this all is counts as "humor" or hearing Michelangelo talk about how he wants to climb into Megan's foxhole every second onscreen is "comedy".

This film doesn't destroy the TMNT legacy or anything like that. But it doesn't add anything to it either other than failing at capturing the lovable goofiness and heart of the characters.

Did anyone else really love the references? The hip hop Christmas album and the Turtle Soup line were unexpected and awesome.. and the way they used Cowabunga I thought was perfect and made me happy as a Turtles fan. This movie was fun I don't know how someone could say it lacked that

After the critic reviews I thought this would be terrible, but this was twice as much fun as the original TMNT movies. The characters may look different physically but they were spot on personalty wise. The movie also had a lot of heart which I also wasn't expecting. I really liked it and will be buying it when it releases.

That said I still hope GOTG beats it at the box office. I'm excited for a TMNT sequel.

The movie was what i expected. The two things i hated was the score…which sucked and the fact that Shredder looked like Silver Samuri from The Wolverine.

The movie had the action, the heart of what make TMNT great and despite Splinter learning how to fight from a book…everything was pretty much spot on.

Oh, for those who said that the turtles are barely in the movie. We must have seen two different movies because after the first 15 minutes they are in just about every scene throughout the rest of the movie.

7/10.

Just got back really enjoyed it, simply put it was a fun film that made me feel like a kid again.

I liked the turtles looks and personalities, thought those were pretty spot on. Their voices were good as well, something I was nervous about going in. Knoxville took me out of some Leo dialogue since we was all I could hear, but most of the time it wasnt noticeable it was him. Mikey and Raph were perfect, thought Raph sounded like Mark Wahlberg which was cool. Donny took a minute to catch on but I liked him.

April and Vern (is that his name? Lol) were good, Sacks was decent, Shredder was scary but a bit bulky in armor form.

Only one I didn't like both looks and voice was Splinter, the personality was good but didn't care for his look or voice.

The action was incredible and fun, loved the interaction of the Turtles with each other and with April. Thought the plot was just fine and managed to tell the origin and relate to their present day nicely.

I had a fun time, the Cowabunga was perfectly used twice, and probably my favorite scene was when they were running from the rooftops into the sewer and it kind of looked like the opening to the cartoon.

Rated it a 7/10 -- will certainly watch again when its released on dvd

Vern is short for Vernon.

The character is from the 80s cartoon.

Havent seen that since i was prolly 6 or 7 in the 90s lol. But no doubt its what started my love for the turtles :)

Loved will arnett in the role.

So the line that's in all the tv spots - "... there is nothing as strong as family" Where does that appear in the movie, I think I missed it

Haha i instantly remembered him. Call it what you want but this was a fun movie :) I think it did the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle name and history justice.

Loved the look of the Turtles, and all the voices/characterization except Leo and Splinter. Knoxville took me away from the character, and Leo didn't act or feel like a leader. Splinter didn't feel like a wise mentor, but shredders new gear made sense, but lacked any real presence. Sachs should have just been Baxter, and the NEW origin sucked. Also it felt like they were too lazy to embrace story-telling, and just wrote stuff around cool action scenes. I did like the Easter eggs though, especially the reference to what Eastman and co-creator almost went for originally. "And to think we almost used rabbits." That was a fun nod, overall I agree with most of you. It was a good movie, but not great and the end lacked a real threat. I would have used Krang as a puppet master to shredder, and had shredder want Baxters ooze to make a hybrid army of mutants. IE we could have had a beepop and rocksteady, even if for just a fight scene. Just my two cents, but the film wasn't a disaster piece like we all feared...

Splinter vs Shredder was cool.

A lot was lost though in them having no connection or backstory between one another...

Pros:
Shredder vs Splinter cool
Mike, Raph, Leo
Vern xD
April 11yrs TCIR? (Ooze)
Karai :3. hnnngggg

Cons:
Shredder, Sachs FAINTS? :/
The 'Foot' :/

The mountain scene was probably one of the top action sequences I've seen in a movie ever.It was that fun.

I agree, reminded me a bit of the river/barrel scene in the Hobbit2. On top of just a great action scene it had a ton of great interaction between the Turtles. Easily the most memorable scene for me.

Can't wait! Loved the barrel scene in DoS. That was incredibly fun.

"Raphael - And every time I talked about walking away it was because I was scared! I just can't that I was good enough to stand next to you and call you brothers and tell you... I love you, I love you guys so much."
xD hehehe

The payoff to that was hilarious even if you did see it coming.
