The colors, specifically for the suit? That seems doubtful. Digital grading is common, but I think that's more of a general color adjustment for an entire shot.

well, didn't Singer use some kind of filter that muted the colors of the suit in SR?

I seem to recall that the FX company that worked on SR released some "unfiltered" footage that showed what the suit was supposed to look like, and it looked better than the official muted colors in SR.......

Colours are generally always tweaked in post prod. I would imagine Snyder will do so. Right now, from what I've seen, the costume looks fairly dark. I think it'd be wrong to go for the "gloomy" look that Superman Returns had. Just a thought...

yeah.....I hope they don't go the "dark and gloomy" route for MOS.....

That was what I was referring to with the color correcting. It didn't seem to be specific to the costume, the effect was on everything. Snyder at least has an eye for color.

Anyone have a link to that, I'd be quite curious to see it...

I hope Snyder gets the color scheme right, not just for the costume but for the overall movie.

oh....and The Watchman, if this is what you were asking for, I believe this Youtube video shows the scene clips from SR without the color filter:

The suit looks way better with the brighter colors!

No 'filters'...all done in color-correction. They purposely wanted that 'muted' look, for whatever reason, on just about everything. The raw shots are pretty 'neutral', as to offer better latitude for adjustment later on in CC.

That's BS. It's not too difficult, but it would be time consuming.

It wouldn't be difficult if they just modeled a CG cape with a yellow patch to begin with, when it comes to full CGI. But if they want to add one frame-by-frame later on, it'll be a pain in the ass. Doesn't really make any sense not to use an actual yellow 'S' on the cape if they intended to have one. Most likely, they just decided to go without one, period, before filming began, and they're sticking to it.

Agreed.

Thanks my man, you're not kidding, looks much better.

so after looking at some other spy pics I think Supes lost his trunks at the dry cleaners...

It's like way back when the movie came out...there were some posters looking to blame the use of lens filters, or 'limitations' of the Genesis camera. When I pointed out it was a conscious decision made in color-correction, and not some sort of oversight/lighting problem/etc., it was met with considerable bewilderment. Albeit, still a rather curious aesthetic decision, but a calculated one nonetheless.

Basically, it's very hard to judge the 'final look' from spy photos for numerous reasons...not only because of color-corrections, but because we're also not looking at it through the lens of their camera. We're seeing how it would look to the 'naked eye' of a bystander, when what we see in most professional movies is anything but.
