Me too. In general, I love how everything in the flashbacks to Clark's childhood seems to have a period appearance, included the kids' clothing and Pete's glasses. Granted, it seems that even present day Smallville will look like it is stuck in the past to an extent and that is extremely fitting.

I have to admit that one of the things that bugged me (in a very small nerdy, pet peeve sort of way) about Batman Begins is how no efforts were taken to make anything about the flashbacks to Bruce's childhood look like they happened 20 years earlier. Thomas Wayne has an extremely modern hairstyle (should have had a Yuppie mullet ), the Gotham skyline has some very modern buildings, and people are driving late 90s/early 2000s cars. Also, Alfred hasn't aged a day, but ages rather considerably in the "decade" that follows.

Guess it was just on my mind watching the latest Movie Moan and remembering how much effort was put into that aspect of Superman: The Movie. I'm glad to see that Man of Steel has similar attention to such little details (not that they will make a huge difference in the quality of the film, but they help establish atmosphere and passage of time).
Begins looks fine. It is not set at any fixed point in time. It is suppose to be timeless. Just like the comics.

Not sure how much "period" there is in MoS, considering Johnathan's truck.

Lara is a major milf.

Superman has the best mothers. :woot:

I think General Zod has the hots for Major Milf... but that may be just a Private Joke...

The discussion of Ma Kent as a MILF always reminds me of this segment on Conan (in particular 5:40 onwards):

And to think we could be seeing it ..

Hey -- I don't want to start a political debate here but it's weird that Warner promotes Man of Steel with the same American flag on two official pictures.

We are not in the 1940s or the 1970s anymore, the Cold War ended more than two decades ago...The U.S. flag is no longer an integral part of the visual identity of the character....

Remember, two years ago Superman renounced his U.S. citizenship in 'Action Comics #900.' written by David S. Goyer (who wrote MOS). Superman appeared in Tehran to non-violently support the protesters demonstrating against the Iranian regime. Superman renounced his American citizenship at the United Nations to continue working as a superhero from a more global than national perspective. "I'm tired of having my actions construed as instruments of U.S. policy".

I know it's a fictional character created by Americans, for Americans. But the image of Superman has changed during over the years. He's not the symbolic concept of "the American Dream" anymore, but a symbol of hope for the entire world.

People complained about Spider-Man 3 and the fleeting shot of a waving U.S. flag. I hope Man of Steel will not have this kind of unnecessary scene :yay:

I'm all for a big glorious american flag behind Superman in a shot. I hope they do one actually, but I doubt they'll have the balls to.

I'm just going to assume that Wayne Enterprise built the Daily Planet in Metropolis after their iconic building in Gotham City.

I want the Daily Planet to look like to be an all glass building. Hehe
