I think even without the cape, there is something about the lines and texture of the suit that really "pops" from each picture of it. Thor's suit is pretty sweet too.

I like how the cape covers most of the piping, so I find it kinda of essential. His wrist look like he is wearing a child's foam toy. That and the color of the suit (not the cape. The cape's color is amazing) keep me from falling for it.

New poster, from the Man of Steel FB page.

I'm a huge proponent of keeping the trunks, but that is without doubt the best picture of the new suit that I've seen so far. The designers did such a great job of adding visual interest to make up for the lack of trunks that it works beautifully imo. This is just another version of his costume, and if losing the trunks for this movie makes the GA take the character more seriously, and in turn that translates to bigger B.O. so be it. That means there is a greater likliehood of more Superman/JL/World's finest movies. Anytime we get more CBM movies, be they Marvel or DC, is a big win afaiac.

I will say that from a distance, this version doesn't work quite as good as the trunks do in balancing the red with the blue, but when you see the (tramp stamp as some have put it) details and the gauntlets in this picture, it is truly magnificent. Hopefully one day someone will figure out how to incorporate the trunks again, perhaps in comics or a different TV/movie series but as of now colour me SUITably impressed. Speaking of colours. Count me as one of those that likes the colour palette of this movie, and specifically the suit with it's muted yellow on the \S/. From my perspective it just seems to add another layer of that gritty realism that made TDKT so visually appealing.

Just let it go, trunks are silly, Batman looks better too without them. I agree with Grant Morrison when he says:

Any fans who cling on to maybe a version of something they read when they were children are really just hanging on to a past. The world's moved on. There's new children. They want their version of it. So I think it's very important to freshen these things up and to update them and to move them forward and to look at them in the context of all the things we're interested in now."

I like the concept of the poster...it's a good idea, just needs less motion blur.

that's a much better poster

The posters are slowly improving, but it would be nice to see one with Superman face to face with Zod, and his hands around his Zod's throat. Or perhaps a crouching Man of Steel being blasted by the energy beam fom the Black Zero.

I thought I just endorsed this trunkless look for MOS, or did you not bother to fully read, or comprehend what I wrote. BTW I don't have to give up my preference for trunks, in order to be totally on board with ZS and his designer's vision for the costume in this movie.
