I actually really love the new poster, finally something with an iconic feel to it.

I saw a pic of Clark over in the other photo thread and he has an unmistakable spit curl. Now why can't they do that with Superman's hair?

I dunno. I can understand past criticism of the curl based on Reeve and Routh's hairstyles as Superman. Both looked like extremely artificial hair helmets created using an excessive amount of product. It makes sense that people would thus associate the curl with an outdated, ridiculous form of hairstyle. However, Cavill has naturally curly hair, which is part of what makes him look like a living embodiment of Superman to someone like me who grew up with the Post-Crisis version of the character. As a result, the curl looks incredibly natural on him. It seems a little odd that Snyder with his affinity for comic book visuals and iconography did not exploit such an opportunity. Maybe it was interference for the higher-ups who associated the curl like the trunks with a "lame, out of date" interpretation of the character. Yeah, it is a missed opportunity (damn, it looked awesome on the ComicCon poster) but it won't affect my enjoyment of the film.

Reeve was not near as muscular and did not have nearly as much muscle mass as Cavill did for the shoot, I'm sorry to say but its really just an obvious observation.

Typically when a man is very tall and does have some muscle mass it makes him appear much larger because of it, but overall as far as pure muscle goes Cavill clearly has more of it.

Fitness and bodybuilding now is a whole different world than it was then and fans now expect actors playing heroes to look exactly like their comic book counterparts, while Reeve absolutely looked the part for the time period he wouldn't fit todays standards.

Maybe the clothes hide it really well, but Cavill doesn't seem particularly big outside the oil rig clips and pics they've shown so far, and the Superman suit seems to have some padding. Muscles don't show through fabric like that in such detail. They're going to claim over and over again that he's the real deal but they're trying to sell us a movie. How do we know they aren't padding the hell out of the suit? How do we know he didn't buff up just for those shirtless scenes?

I really shouldn't justify such a ridiculous comment with a response but you can't just buff up for a couple of scenes. It is a months long process that involves a lot of hard work and dedication and muscle mass doesn't just disappear if you stop training. Also, superhero costumes aren't exactly the most forgiving of fluctuations in size. (see the Batman Begins costume in TDK) Cavill needed to maintain relatively consistent size throughout the shoot since Superman scenes were filmed through out the shoot. Of course, the suit had some padding and that was necessary to accomplish the effect of having Cavill's physique "show through" the suit's material. It doesn't mean that he was smaller than they claim or that he needed help from the suit to look big.

Have you seen his neck? That is all the proof I need.

Probably because at some point in the action, after Superman has been smacked about a bit and is about to go (Kryptonian) medieval on someone's ass, he'll look up pick himself off the floor with a pissed determined look on his face. His hair will then fall into a classic spit curl, and a roar of collective approval will erupt from the theatre goers. At least, that is what I'm hoping for lol!:yay:

Like DKD said, it's not possible to achieve this kind of physique on the fly. That only works for Popeye!

[blackout]He's Lex. At least I'm still hoping he somehow is.[/blackout]

That makes no sense, [BLACKOUT]why would he be Lex? It's like when people thought Anthony Michael Hall was Edward Nygma. [/BLACKOUT]Pulled right out from the ass...

And Meloni wouldn't have left Law & Order if there wasn't something else connected to his role in MOS.

Super Kal?

Stephen K?

...

Hmmmmm

Wow! I'd like to say that your powers of deductive reasoning rival those of Sherlock Holmes, and that you are B R I L L I A N T. I'd like to say that, but I can't. It's hard to believe I know, but that was actually another poster agreeing with me who has S and K in their user name. You would think that with 26 letters in the alphabet, the odds of that poster and me sharing two of those letters has got to be simply astronomical. By any chance are you a mathematician as well as an amatuer sleuth?:cwink:

I tip my hat to your haughty derision, kind sir. It is amusing and satisfying.

A lot of people believe that the MOS suit is the best live action superhero costume ever. What about this?
