No, it is not the same in all stores. As I mentioned, we Canadians are missing out on promotions like the advance screening tickets and our Walmarts are probably the closest to American ones, in terms of market saturation and dominance. Moreover, as Denish and other have mentioned Walmart's presence is almost non-existent in continental Europe. Developed consumer nations like France, Germany, and the UK are where the money is. Developing, third world markets like South America, Africa, and even China to an extent, where Walmart has been more effective in establishing itself internationally, don;t have the same box office potential in purely monetary terms.
I can confirm that Walmart does not exist in Europe, but you can find Asda in England ( a Walmart subsidiary, which is also the second largest retailer in England. Im not sure it functions as Walmart in America though).
But you cant find it in the other European countries.
Besides, Warner Bros might want to promote the American market to increase the chances of making the movie more profitable in the USA so they can repay the budget. But this rather sounds insane as a movie of this extent has to be internationnaly promoted.
However, I have to admit that this is a promotion that comes a little late, thereve been a lot of posters lately, but compared to Iron Man 3s ones, who appeared 3 months before the movie release, its far from being enough.
Here in France, the promotion is slowly starting compared to 2006s Superman Returns, we had a huge promotion back then. Man of Steels promotion seems much more measured.
For exemple, you can easily come across Man of Steels latest trailers on movie websites ( in french or with substitles), but within movie theaters, its kind of a disaster. The teaser was barely broadcasted when it was first launched back in july 2012, as for the following couple of trailers they hadnt been broadcasted at all. Some of the movie theaters are just starting to broadcast the very first TEASER only now, only a couple of months before the movie release ( this is crazy since the trailer was launched 11 months ago and it says that the movie is being release next year, since it dated back to July 2012 ).
Unlike Man of Steels trailers, Iron Man 3s ones were widely broadcasted in movie theaters and many months before the movie release. Ive never seen such thing for any of Warner Bross big production, even TDKs and TDKRs teasers and trailers were broadcasted as soon as they were released.
In France, there is a pretty good promotion throughout internet ( the movie is eagerly awaited, all the websites are making good critics about the movie), but the official promotion in the movie theaters is disastrous apart from the posters which start to appear.
I really have the impression that Warner Bros has a problem with promotion ( which is coming late ).
