I don't think there are any Wal-Mart's in the UK. They own the supermarket chain Asda, that's about it.

Ah okay, I didn't know that. But hey, I have almost no knowledge of Walmart because we don't have them here in The Netherlands and most of Europe.

What I think he means is that he thinks the MOS posters that WB brought out recently are I guess.. ****? And that he actually likes the "posters" for MOS that are in the marketing campaign for Walmart.
Buttttt the thing is that Walmart is almost no where in Europe except for the UK so most of us Europeans won't see any of the Walmart marketing stuff
You stole my words..that was I was trying to say..The problem is that this isn't my language..

Yeah, it's the same here really.

how can you be so sure of that?? Do you work for WB? Wal-Mart? I'm sure the Wal-Mart marketing is going to just fine abroad as well as it will in the States. Hell there are Wal-Mart stores in AFRICA for crying out loud and I'm sure they will do the same damn promoting as Wal-Mart in Florida, Missouri, and California. One Wal-Mart isn't going to do something different from the next. It's all the same in all stores

No, it is not the same in all stores. As I mentioned, we Canadians are missing out on promotions like the advance screening tickets and our Walmarts are probably the closest to American ones, in terms of market saturation and dominance. Moreover, as Denish and other have mentioned Walmart's presence is almost non-existent in continental Europe. Developed consumer nations like France, Germany, and the UK are where the money is. Developing, third world markets like South America, Africa, and even China to an extent, where Walmart has been more effective in establishing itself internationally, don;t have the same box office potential in purely monetary terms.

The promotion is excellent for us here in the states, but it might not help with the foreign folk.

yes, i meant great for marketing the film over there in the US .. i am also hoping for a surprise on the upside on the international figures though

I can confirm that Walmart does not exist in Europe, but you can find Asda in England ( a Walmart subsidiary, which is also the second largest retailer in England. I’m not sure it functions as Walmart in America though).

But you can’t find it in the other European countries.

Besides, Warner Bros might want to promote the American market to increase the chances of making the movie more profitable in the USA so they can repay the budget. But this rather sounds insane as a movie of this extent has to be internationnaly promoted.

However, I have to admit that this is a promotion that comes a little late, there’ve been a lot of posters lately, but compared to Iron Man 3’s ones, who appeared 3 months before the movie release, it’s far from being enough.

Here in France, the promotion is slowly starting compared to 2006’s Superman Returns, we had a huge promotion back then. Man of Steel’s promotion seems much more measured.

For exemple, you can easily come across Man of Steel’s latest trailers on movie websites ( in french or with substitles), but within movie theaters, it’s kind of a disaster. The teaser was barely broadcasted when it was first launched back in july 2012, as for the following couple of trailers they hadn’t been broadcasted at all. Some of the movie theaters are just starting to broadcast the very first TEASER only now, only a couple of months before the movie release ( this is crazy since the trailer was launched 11 months ago and it says that the movie is being release next year, since it dated back to July 2012 ).

Unlike Man of Steel’s trailers, Iron Man 3’s ones were widely broadcasted in movie theaters and many months before the movie release. I’ve never seen such thing for any of Warner Bros’s big production, even TDK’s and TDKR’s teasers and trailers were broadcasted as soon as they were released.

In France, there is a pretty good promotion throughout internet ( the movie is eagerly awaited, all the websites are making good critics about the movie), but the official promotion in the movie theaters is disastrous apart from the posters which start to appear.

I really have the impression that Warner Bros has a problem with promotion ( which is coming late ).

Well since its my opinion, I'm just saying I like the current comic book suit sans the collar.

That's fine. I was just expressing my opinion, same as you.

We actually have quite a few variations of the suit.
Some of which suck. Some of them are okay. And some I actually like.

God, I hate that word.....opinion

Now before anyone jumps down my throat, I'm not talking about any particular opinion, I'm simply talking about the word.

Agree. Still haven’t seen the trailer in the cinema. And my local cinemas are still showing the teaser trailer and poster. And still haven’t seen any MOS billboard. (We have Ironman billboard since last year!!!) If I’m not a superman fan, I will not know that there is a superman movie out next month!!!

Same here in Italy..Haven't seen nothing..I mean..nothing..No teasers, no trailers..no posters anywhere..On tv they're showing World War Z spots, and that movie comes out later than MoS..Warner Italy is really lame..At least this year they decided to release the movie 6 days later than USA..last year we saw TDKR on 29th of August..If internet did not exist, we wouldn't have known about a new Superman movie coming out in a month..

Well, trailers at the movies, the one thing that pisses me off. I only saw the MOS trailer (second one) once, with Evil Dead, and I go to the movies at least once a week.

There are old MOS posters (the very first ones). I dont know what the hell they're doing, but it annoys me, I only get crappy trailers all the time. The Great Gatsby comes out next week here, and I never saw the trailer in theaters, except yesterday when I saw Jurassic Park 3D and it was a totally different trailer from what's online with tons of new footage and stuff.

Have no idea how they choose to attach trailers, but they're doing a terrible job here. You guys are lucky to be in the US (for those who are).

For examples though, I did get the first World War Z trailer a while back, like 4 months or something, got Star Trek and Iron Man with The Hobbit, got Star Trek quite a few times lately (comes out mid June here), but that's it for big releases.

I cant even imagine when I'll get the Pacific Rim trailer (hell, it will probably be just the teaser :D ), or Lone Ranger, or Wolverine, Elysium, Kick-Ass 2 or that kind of stuff......

I keep seeing a two-second slot in the UK, just the shield briefly on screen.

...with the words "Booking Now" every now and then? I saw that last week. Even just seeing the shield was bloody awesome! Lets hope we start getting some TV spots soon.

Not sure. I didn't notice it said that.

I seem to recall a 2 second teaser on UK television for TDKR last year. Just a shot of the symbol smashing up.

On avait eu des exemplaires de Daily Planet et une avant premiere de malade: )

Damn you WB with your pathetic marketing for this film (cinema wise) I want people to believe a man can fly again but your ridicously ******ed approach is not hitting my cinema with the latest trailer's, instead i have to put up with non competing junk with plots so hollow that the whole place echoes with stupid one liners. this comes out in 4 weeks time (UK) fix the **** up and start delivering for the general public, they need to realise this films potential . I want this film to be film of the year and be accepted amongst the public so they can get rid of that nightmare of SR. I Know this will be my film of the year thats for damn sure. By the time i watch Hangover 3 there better be trailer 3 on schedule if not i will shout abuse at the screening, simple as that WB.

It's so weird that a lot of you aren't getting the trailers in the theaters.

I've seen the third trailer in theaters twice as well as the the second one. A total of 4 times. In different theaters too.

What's that all about? Just weird.

You do know that it's up to the individual theaters as to what trailers are shown before movies, right?
