He was enormous in the movie. I would go do far as to say that he was slightly more jacked than he needed to be. I tend to think of Batman and Superman having a similar boxer/track athlete kind of build.

He was almost 'too' built and sculpted to look natural in the film. But I guess that's part of the overall aesthetic for Superman in this.

I think Snyder wanted him to look that way. He said he wanted Cavill to look like a "freak", and to be in "crazy shape". Cavill did look "freakish", he looked so cut that it was jarring, you could literally see that he had no fat on his body. But that was the intended look it seems.

That seems to show that his cape is a two-piece cape, overlapping just under the shoulders? Probably a guide for the CG guys where to insert the CG cape?
