So those are pants?

The fact is for me after looking at Supes that way for years, he looks nude without them. Just my opinion. Honestly, I think there's more things wrong with it but that's number one. I liked the Returns costume ok. It was the script that needed work there....

I think the Nick Cage suit is looking better every day. Hopefully the script and general package will be so good the costume wont matter. Whoever is designing costumes for DC movies lately ought to be slapped.....

The Nick Cage suit wouldn't have had trunks either.

Which means? That they didnt get all that or...?
I'm sure the jets are still in. I read about that elsewhere as well.

Anyways, I'm still getting a HUGE Superman II-vibe here with the small-town backdrop, the army and the choppers. Here's hoping it'll be NOTHING like that.

No, they got all those things. That article was about how Alberta, Canada couldn't provide those things so that's why the movie is shooting in the States, in Chicago. The US military was willing to provide all those things, while Canada couldn't.

I don't see how the options are only either the small-town of Smallville or a fight in Metropolis. Since they have these characters that can fly, why not have stuff like mid-air battles? Why wouldn't Snyder utilise that? I doubt he would limit it to a fight in Smallville. They could move- from city to country, to sky to sea etc.

Snyder isn't going all green screen but I'm sure he can augment realistic stuff with green screen, like Superman and the Kryptonian villlains battling it out in mid-air around these jets and choppers etc.

Check on that article.

I'm sure they'll be all over the place fighting and yeah, Smallville's probably just one of those places. Will it be the backdrop of the climactic Showdown? Who knows...

The only thing we haven't seen is wire rigs. This superman likes to walk. Lol

:p

There are rumours that this is similar to the "Grounded" storyline from the comics. Smallville is the first stop in his soul-searching walk across America.

Does that mean he is literally gonna walk everywhere? I certainly hope Snyder uses as much practical as possible. Obviously a great number of flying scenes will have to be CGI or green screen. But I want a good number of his take offs to be real, have them fling Cavill up into the air with a rig.

Something that I don't see often is Supes just plain levitating off the ground by a few inches. Either standing still or floating in a walking distance. Nothing extravagant, but it's subtly effective in conveying that this guy can f'n fly anytime he wanted.

If I had his powers I certainly would take every opportunity to use it in even the most mundane of activities. It's why I always appreciated small moments like Clark floating above his bed while resting/sleeping.

They did do it in Superman Returns a bit. It wouldn't have looked as good back in the 80s but today it can easily be done.

I wasn't being serious about him walking across the country. It would be good to see some flying on location. We did see pics of Henry in a rig as a younger Clark.

That would be good. We did see some levitating off the ground in the Supergirl movie lol. I know what you mean, small details like that would be good.

Oh yeah, that's right.

Just WOW!!! With all due respect, I ask you... Have you even read and/or comprehended the article in which you are replying to?

Here is the article again (Below in Blue) , it's one of the most AMAZING articles I've read connected to this project. Please read it again, and if you still do not comprehend what this article is telling us, then I do not know what else can help ya with my friend.

This article is revealing to us that when the Producers and makers of "Superman: The Man Of Steel", contacted the Canadian officials about supplying "Fighter Jets", massive "Air Craft Carriers", Big "Cargo Planes", and "Attack Helicopters" (which is needed for this Film), to Canadian officials; Canada could not simply supply these things on this huge of a scale, for this big of a project.

The article also reveals, that Canada's incentives were far more desirable then what the U.S was offering financially, in which WB gave NO CRAP about it! What this shows me is that WB and DC are far more concerned about the quality of this movie then the cost!

So, in the end, WB ended up taking the higher bid, filming in the U.S, as the U.S Military had the means of providing these Carriers, Helicopters, Planes, and fighter Jets.

Get it?

I think the way Cavill appears to be standing and walking in the pictures is very Superman-like... he has that confident look, the Cape looks great flowing behind him, he looks imposing and not silly in the costume. No flying pics yet but so far so good IMHO.

Superman talking with Lois while walking down the street, with Superman quietly hovering along next to her. I can see it already, and I'm liking it :-)

Glad I'm not the only one who is getting the Superman II feeling when I look at the pics- especially the army vs Zod/Faora aspect set in a small rural town. I loved that part of Superman II, but we don't need to see it again.

It's too obvious not to see it. But (the Richard Donner cut versions of) Zod, Non and Ursa were also far more entertaining than Lex Luthor and his overused land plot.

It's way too early in the shooting schedule for me to worry about that.

And these shirts commemorate the end of the red underwear era:

I just want them to be done with the Donnerverse and all of the references to it. Superman I and II were great, but Superman Returns closed the book on the Donnerverse, and I was hoping for a new approach with this movie. I have to admit that I am a huge Zod fan in any incarnation, so I'm glad he's in the movie.

This is in a separate continuity I'm sure, but you can't deny that Donner is the guy who brought Zod to the dance, even if the originated in the comics. And there's nothing wrong with that.

For sure I give Donner mad props for giving the world General Zod, and the perfect casting of Stamp along with it. It's 30 years later, and everyone on planet Huston still kneels before Zod :)

Going with Zod and the militaristic route is safer in a way, rather than going full-on sci-fi with something like Brainiac. But Nolan and Goyer reused the Joker, Catwoman and Bane for Batman, so hopefully they will have a new approach to these characters and will open up the Superman mythology if they make more.

I wouldn't dismiss the sci-fi side of it all just yet...
Remember the guy in the mo-cap suit? ;)
Even if it is Shannon -of which I still want irrefutable proof-, it will be huge, and therefore, not human, and definitely sci-fi :-)

I certainly don't mind Zod being the villain to start things off. But if this leads to more movies we certainly need at least one of these guys...brainiac/darkseid/doomsday...to show up.

The idea of our modern military throwing everything they have at two pissed off Kryptonians, does sound pretty freakin cool.

Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be another Michael Bay/Transformers situation. Which I highly doubt it would.

Not everyone is a 12-year old kid trapped in an adult body. Although it would seem that Bay's entire crew, including himself, is... So that right there sort of messes with the percentage :D
