To Believe or Not To Believe? (SHOW RESPECT, OR RISK A BAN) - Part 2

Where does it say she is required to marry the guy? Everything related to the case says "He must". The man is being made to "do the right thing". There was no requirements made on the woman. (I.E. It doesn't say "She must". People read into many of these things simply what they want to see.)

It doesn't even consider her. She is not a person in what the Bible outlines here, she's an object. A "you break it, you buy it" where you buy her from her father. Not shocking, coming from the book saying (paraphrasing) "no woman may speak over a man."

Can we not rehash the "does the Bible condemn homosexuality" argument for the millionth time?

Apart from the same few people who constantly rehash it....nobody cares.

That's so broad that it could be applied to artificial limbs or even pacemakers. Did God mean for us to replace our body parts with machinery?

But weren't the guidelines in Leviticus fulfilled by Jesus, in the eyes of his audience? Why then did they still cling to the part about homosexuality?

1. That has nothing to do with homosexuality whatsoever.

2.The prohibition against homosexuality did not change any more than the Ten Commandments or prohibition against incest. Only the "regulations" of the law were changed. (Again, not wearing two different fabrics, etc)

But some want to make the bible say what it clearly isn't trying to say. In no way does it make any requirements on the woman. If it did,it would say so. This was intended to provide for the victim. Not punish them.

I think it's pretty clear that at the time, women were expected to obey men. When the Bible says "do x with a woman" it's pretty much implied that the woman has no choice.

Leviticus 20:13 does more than simply condemn homosexuality. It provides a precise punishment for it.

And if we're going to excuse the punishment as being a product of the culture of ancient times, why can't we excuse the condemnation of homosexuality as being a product of the culture of ancient times?

They weren't expected to obey a man they didn't belong to. She was under no requirement to the rapist. I'm sure there was some pressure for them to marry since they were not generally given many options, but it wasn't mandated. You have to be reading into the text what isn't there to come to any other conclusion.

My favorite is the text which states daughters should drug their fathers and rape them so they could continue their bloodline, provided they never find a man.

I heard of that before, I don't really know what I was thinking at the time when I first read about it.

So I have a pray request. So today I found out about a car crash that happened in the town I live in. 3 people where involed a 92 year old man or was swerving hit and killed the driver of the another car but the 92 year old man survived and so did the passenger in the another car. While today I found out that the guy who passed away was the dad of a guy I used to go to school with and the passenger was his son I know:csad:. Just fell bad for him that he lost his dad but glad to hear that he is ok. Just has to be a shock to Michael and just goes to show how quikly life can end. Just praying for him and his family though this hard time in life.

Wow this thread is on the homosexuality issue again. Christians who believe in the bible aren't all hateful people. We just believe in the word of God. At the end of the day, no human is in any position to judge or condemn anyone, that's God's job. Yes, God loves everyone but he does not love sin. And that's how I live my life as well. I have respect and love for everyone as long as they show me respect as a fellow human being regardless of their beliefs ( or lack of beliefs) and sexual orientation.

In the case of the bible on the subject. To be honest, the bible does indeed call homosexuality an abomination. I don't believe it was God's intent for mankind. Not to be graphic but to me that's clear because only two people of the opposite sex can reproduce and they have sex organs that compliment each other ( penis and vagina).

But again, I do not hate anyone or believe in condemning people. My job is to love on people, live my life according to God's word, and let God take care of the rest. That's pretty much all I have to say on this subject.

Wow.. I will be praying for the family in this situation.

I was saying like how some frogs and fish can change their gender in order to reproduce.

Oh, okay.

What do you think about homosexual sheep? Were they born with a mental defect?

Ugh, so sick of coming in here and the same people are having the same debate about gays. It seems readily apparent that nobody that argues for either side plans on changing positions anytime soon so can we just agree to stop bringing it up? It's getting really old and very annoying

I just came in here to talk about that, DD and the inclusion of his Catholicism was done extremely well. There is one part where his priest ask him:

"how you holding up?"

DD: "Like a good Catholic boy"

Priest: "That bad huh?"

Haha it was great

I've asked this before, and I'll ask it again: how would you vote on a prop 8-style ballot proposal?

Instead of complaining about an old topic, talk about a new one...

I did, I came in here to talk about Catholicism's role in DD which I thought was done very well. Exactly what the next statement I made was in the same post with the complaint

As a Catholic I'd happily take Daredevil as the poster boy of my religion.
